Amazing Mario Bros. Record!

Well, this time in Mario Bros. Classic on Super Mario Advance 2, I made it to Phase 73!  That's right.  73!  Wow.  I surprised myself.  This was on easter.  In fact, I still had 5 lives, and I had gotten no Game Overs.  However I had to quit, because we had early church.  Then after that I thought to myself "Why didn't I just pause it?  I have an adapter!  Because I'm a stupid idiot!"

73!? I can't get to phase 12 without Game Overing. I know I suck, but it seems I have been cursed at video games. I play them 24/7, yet I don't get any better. I played my friend at Mario Bros. once to see how far we could get before one of us died. I got to phase 11, while he got to 42(although we could've played 2 player if he'd only get a ****** link cable!).

My record for the first bonus round is 6.2, although I know anyone can beat that. If you're looking for someone who actually DIED at phase 1(not on purpose), here I am.

I'm even MAKING a Mario Bros. clone on my computer, hopefully with AI(so I can play SOMEONE I can actuallly BEAT!!).

ok, I don't have SMA2, so explain this "Phase" thing to me, and I will say how far I think I can get in the mode.

Ok, Mario Bros. consists of phases(levels). It gradually gets tougher as you go, at about phase 8 you get fireballs, and I never got far enough to know, but my friend said there are icicles dropping from the ceiling around phase 15.

iv'e gotten far...but not THAT far

Phase 72 is a bonus level, but I didn't get a chance to play Phase 73 because I had to quit and go to church.  The levels around there include:

4 icicles falling at different areas
Fireballs coming every 10 seconds
Enemies get up after being stunned for 7 seconds
Freezies come more frequently
2 floors are automatically frozen at top.

About 10 minutes before I made this post, I MADE IT TO PHASE 77!! I was kicking myself in the head for not knowing was I was doing wrong(constantly using the screen edges). I had to pee around phase 65, so I think that's what jinxed it. Oh yeah, these things also happen.

An annoying red fireball bounces around the level.
It takes longer to get to bonus rounds.
Icicles come from the pipe bottoms that you can't see starting when you're at the bottom.
All the things on the ground make it hard to see which the way the enemies are going.

Here's a good tip: NEVER totally destroy the lower POW Block. You need it to hop on to avoid enemies occasionally. Also, the risk taken to activate the upper POW Block will usually kill you, so leave it alone in the higher phases unless there are absolutely no enemies around it.

My new time record for the first bonus stage is 10.0, and my highest combo is 6(I got 3 lives for it!)

Here's a good rating chart for how far you can get without a Game Over
10 - Ameteur
20 - Average
30 - Good
40 - Veteran
50 - Advanced
60 - Expert
70 - Grand Expert
80 - Master
90+ - Grand Master

Anyone who gets farther than phase 50 should be considered an elite MB player.
