Mario Chat / Re: os x mod?
« on: July 11, 2006, 11:45:12 AM »
I've used both, but I'm mostly a windows user simply because I'm more familiar with it.  While Mac's don't have the security issues that Windows computers do, I tend to circumvent most of Window's security holes (especially those in Internet explorer) by using a different browser.  Even after all of this, Apple tends to make the best computers, rated best in both reliability and customer service for desktops, as noted by Consumer Reports, for the last several years.  As for laptops, they are also at the top in service, but reliability-wise it is a close second to Toshiba (quite a surprise, if you ask me).

So, closing word, getting one computer over another is entire your preference.  As for why this topic is getting, well, off-topic, I don't know.  And, if you really want to run an editor on a Mac, try these three options:

1) Get virtual PC and run a version of windows.
2) Learn C++ or another coding language, get the source code of the program you want, convert it so that it will run in a Mac environment, and recompile into a new program.
3) Get a cheap, used,  windows PC, use it as an editor, and transfer files between the two.

Mario Chat / Re: Is Game Boy dead?
« on: July 11, 2006, 11:18:02 AM »
I doubt that the "new gameboy" that Nintendo was talking about was the micro.  However, with no word of it during E3, I wonder if they canceled its deveolopment, or just put it in the backburner to increase the impact of the wii.  I know they aren't related systems, but the more systems a company discloses, the less of an impact each one will have.  We can still hope, therefore, that the new GB has not been abandoned.

It is hard to say, but their should be something.  I mean, it would add to gameplay value by making someone wonder if their is something up there.  I'd be very disappointed if they didn't do this.:(

I just found out that no quick-game modes (including the Star Tournament) in AT will gain you any star holes.  Darn...

Two of them are possible members, but Vivian is DEFINITELY an enemy, as with the other two.  However, as is the case in a lot of Japanese Anime, enemies can change sides at unexpected times.  DBZ (I know I'm off topic) fans should agree with me.

Mario Chat / Re: What do you consider canon?
« on: October 05, 2004, 06:55:01 PM »
No games can truly be considered "canon" since, as stated earlier in this thread, the Mario series doesn't have a definite timeline.  Thankfully, since this allows the Mario series to vary so much.  Mario will rule forever, even though, by that time, his games may follow half a million different storylines.

In short, if Mario needed a consistent timeline, he'd be gone long ago.  Which would be hailed as the beginning of the end of the universe *insert spooky music here*.

Video Game Chat / Re: The new redesigned PS2...
« on: October 05, 2004, 06:34:45 PM »
The new PS2 looks good, but it is not worth the money (I believe it is $200), especially since I have a PS2 (I don't play it).  Also since the PSP was mentioned, I'll state a few potential problems for that

1)The fact that it has a light disk drive means that it will take up more battery power, and give off more heat, which may lead to malfunctions

2)Price- No way it will NEAR $200.  It will be higher

3)The buttons are recessed right into the system.  For those of us who don't look at the buttons on a controller, but instead feel for buttons, this can lead to a problem.  Besides, that D-Pad looks like it will be tough to use.

Back to the subject:  Save your money.  Don't buy the new PS2, but instead get either a DS, PSP (if you want to), or a few good games for systems you already have.  Such as Paper Mario:).

I don't remember exactly what level this was on, but I do remember it was in SMA2, Super Mario World, and in Vanilla Dome

I was in an underground area, near two charging chuck's guarding both sides of a medium slope.  I jumped on one, and aimed for the center of the slope, fell through, and died.

The reason I don't remember the level- This happened over a year ago.  But it still haunts me at night.

The Xbrick is the world's heaviest system, weighing in at only 26 lbs.  Not great for videogaming, but very good for self-defense.

*hey, watch where you're swinging that thing!*

Best of all, it is only $599!  It even comes complete with a lawyer in case you "accidently" injure someone, and a do-it-yourself window-repair kit.

Here are several ways to earn holes:

1)Win tournaments in Advance Tour
2)Get Memorial scores in Advance Tour
3)Beat all characters in both Advance Tour and Toadstool Tour
4)Beat mini-games in both Advance tour and Toadstool Tour
5)Just Link up to Toadstool Tour.
6)Gain exp. in Toadstool Tour? (I think that just gets you Luigi's star character)

As a final note, I don't believe that the hole you get depends on the mini-game (though the course it is on does), so, if you run out of ideas, play tournies over again.

The New Super Mario Bros.  TV Show!

First Kirby, then Sonic, Now none other than Mario!  Nintendo, partered with DIC (which produced the original 3 Mario cartoons), has decided to produce a regular series that stars the famous Mario Brothers in their adventures in the Mushroom World.

Although mainly consisting of original episodes, there will be seasons based on Super Mario Sunshine, Super Mario 64, and other games.

There is still no final word on cast and producers, but this will be finalized shortly, Nintendo says.

This threat actually rated NT- "Not There".  Despite the obvious oversensitivity of the ESRB, Nintendo will still try its best to keep the games "E" rated.  I'll guarantee it.

Video Game Chat / Re: The DS is coming out- Nov. 21!
« on: September 22, 2004, 03:53:24 PM »
There's more.

The DS is coming out in North America BEFORE Japan.  It isn't to be released in Japan until early Dec., making the DS the first system to be released outside of Japan before being released within the country.

There will be at least 4 million units shipped by March, and the financial backing of the DS (advertising, etc.) is more than any other system that Nintendo has produced.

Also, if you haven't checked the links in my previous post (you should), I will tell you that the color scheme is slightly different as well as the shape.

My advise: Either reserve a DS, or hope beyond hope that there will be some left after the reserves that you can get your greedy hands on.

You stink.  I could beat him at a level 5.  Now I will prove it.  After I find my Game Shark.  If I can find it.  If I even have it.  If I even know it exists.  If I even know I exist.  I think I'm going nuts.  Mmmmm, nuts...
