Mario Chat / Re: How old is everyone on this board?
« on: January 29, 2002, 11:36:41 PM »
I'm 18. My Mario playing days started with Super Mario Bros. I've played the older games (Donkey Kong and Mario Bros) but I can't really claim to have experienced them like I have all the other Mario games.

Sometimes people wonder why Mario games are my favorite games. Why don't I go for something more "mature" or "edgy"? I'll tell you why, because "mature", "edgy" games SUCK. They are meant for lamers that are ashamed to admit they love the bouncing Italian plumber. Poor twisted souls.

Ludwig or Roy. Ludwig is the most like Bowser, in my opinion. And Roy..well..I've always liked Roy.

Well, for me, it's always been about the games, not the hardware (you'd have to be stupid to say that hardware was more important than games). I look at it this way: Nintendo (including its second party development houses) is the single best video game developer. No disputing it. It just is. Heh. It's not even a matter of opinion. No other one video game developer has as many high-quality best-selling games per year as Nintendo does.

As a result, I buy the consoles that will have Nintendo games. It goes without saying that that means I buy Nintendo consoles. Simple as that, eh?

Whoops. I confused Goompapa and Goompa. Geez. Maybe they should have just given them real names, eh?

That would be pretty funny, but I've heard that same thing over and over again. Old joke.

Seriously, Mario has much more to do with Japanese mythology than drug abuse. Actually, mythology is one of Miyamoto's biggest idea-banks.

As far as we know, we don't know anything about Bowser's parents. All we know is that Kamek raised him from an early age. ..That is, unless you consider the comics. According to the comics, Bowser *did* have a father (I'm not sure he was named) that was a fearsome Dragon that terrorized the Mushroom Kingdom until a great knight ("The Mushroom Knight") vanquished the great beast. But before this happened, the dragon and his wife ( get this, a koopa ) hid away their only egg (Bowser) in the dragon's huge castle.

Bowser Koopa, the "Trouble King" himself, on Mario's side for good? That would be revolting. Mario games need to keep their old tried-and-true stories. Bowser does something evil (steals a castle, the princess, magic wands, whathaveyou and turns the good guys into stones, plants, story-book cut-outs, emotionless drones, paintings, whatever) and Mario and/or Luigi and friends have to defeat him to set everything right. That's the basic formula. It needs to stay that way.

About that Wario Bros game...That sounds like a very good idea. It should explain Waluigi and I would love it to be a NGC game..even though the chances of that are slim.

Perhaps Goompapa was just too old. Having taught the master everything the master knows, Goompapa is probably even older than the master. While the Master has just started to become weaker and feeble, Goompapa is already too old to even fight anymore.

Uh..I have to agree with Frostbite on this one. ..I even have to echo his desperate cry for everyone else's sanity.

If what Red_Yoshi says makes so much sense, would someone that can type like an adult and express their thoughts in complete sentences please sum-up Red_Yoshi's Mario theory? Maybe when we can understand just what it is, Frostbite and I might just agree. For now, I don't see a grain of sense in what Red_Yoshi has said.

Game Help / Re: paper mario..how to beat bowser
« on: March 04, 2001, 05:54:52 PM »
Bowser's sorta tough to beat. This is what I recommend:
Of course, when he turns "invincible", use the Peach Beam to break the spell.
Stock up on Life Shrooms. Have about 3 or 4.
Also bring other FP/HP resorting things.
Don't forget to use Smooch when you're low on the great items you should bring.
Mostly Tayce T's dishes. Items are important in this battle. Equip the Double Dip badge.
Use Bow. Sure, she can't do much damamge but she's great for dodging Bowser's massive HP-killing attacks.
Bowser will Heal himself. Don't get discouraged, just keep going at him.

That's all I can say. Good luck, restore peace and save the princess! We're all counting on you.

Game Help / Re: Lemon Candy?

Yep. Get it by having Tayce T. cook a Lemon (found at the oasis) and a Cake Mix (taken from your very own Shy Guys). I wonder why Russ has anything to say about this item...it doesn't seem to be any more special than others. Oh well. BTW, I think you can also make Lime Candy.

Forum Games / Re: Super Mario RPG 2 (my version)

Mario and Luigi rushed out to the garden and saw Peach who was kneeling and sitting on her feet. In front of her there was a small white "chompy" plant. The "villanous" plant was fast asleep.

Toad: Oh, my Princess, are you all right?

Peach could do nothing more than let out a few pathetic tear-choked squeaks.

Mario and Luigi looked at each other and shrugged.

Luigi: Umm..Toad..what's the problem?

Mario: I'll save you, my love!

Mario jumped in a heroic pose and landed right next to the little plant that didn't even come up to his knees. Mario then grabbed the little weed and violently yanked it from the ground. It was dead instantly.

Mario: Hah, I've got you now, you vile weed! I'll make your reget what you've done to the fair princess!

Mario then proceeded to wave the dead plant around, shaking it and punching it with his free hand. Then he fell to the ground and wrestled with the plant and yelling heroic-sounding lines until there was nothing left of the plant but grass stains on Mario's gloves. Meanwhile, Peach stopped crying and was looking on these theatrics with starry eyes.

Mario: Haha! I am victorious! Eternal peace has returned to our fair kingdom! Come, Peach, and let us celebrate the vanquishing of another dastardly evil-doer!

Peach: My hero! I'm going to bake you three thousand cakes!

Toad was hopping around happily, singing Mario's praises.

Toad: Mario is the hero of all time! God bless Mario! May his life be littered with riches and good fortune! Three cheers for Mario!

Luigi was so dumbfounded by these going-ons that he couldn't speak. He just stared at his friends who seemed to have lost their minds with an open jaw. Something was wrong here. Very wrong.

"But what if you've got the fungus flu that's been going around?", said Toad.

"Yeah? So what if I a-do?" Luigi said right before sneezing again.

"Well, what if I get it?!" said Toad as he took a few steps back.

"Oh, calm down. -*sniffle*. Let'sa just get to the castle."

"Yeah, and maybe Peach will make you some chicken soup once she sees how sick and pathetic-like you are." Toad said with a smirk.

"Yeah...", dreamily said Luigi, "Maybe she will.."

Toad just rolled his eyes.

By that time, they were standing before the warp pipe that would transort them right to castle's front gate. They were about to jump in when they saw that the pipe was full of water. The downpour had flooded the underground.

Mario Chat / Re: Paper Mario: Great or Crap?
« on: February 21, 2001, 07:22:10 PM »
In my opinion, Paper Mario is an excellent Mario game. I like it much, much. Sure, it didn't live up to what "MarioRPG" was, but it is great in it's own right. It has a classic Marioesque feeling that I've been missing. It is a long game, 30-35 hours long. There are several "real" RPG's that are shorter.
Now, here are what's wrong with it:
Mosty Character problems.
-Where is Kamek? This is the worst crime against a neglected character. They didn't just leave him out of give him a minor part, they *replaced* him with, what I think, is just a warped version of what we already knew. My friends and I decided that untill Nintendo explains such blunders, they will be ignored. Kammy is Kamek. Simple as that.
-Why can't Luigi come? Come on! Sure, at least he's in it, and at least we get to read his diary and talk to him and other silly things, but why can't we just play with him?! Would that be so bad?
-Why so many different party members? Come on, half of them don't even have personalities. Bow is the only "baddie" with a personality that even comes close to fitting. Plus, they could've easily combined their powers. In the end, they are just creating more characters to neglect.
-Where is Toad? Sheesh. Instead, they have that stupid little Twink star thingy. Blah.
