Wavedashing and snaking are effectively the same. They are both programming errors that came about as an oversight by the developer.
Remember that your first Goomba boldly you walk? When Mario touched that mushroom being brought up more largely remember that you are surprised? Miscalculate your jump that pit remember that it falls?

A Nintendo of America official has personally described snaking as an intentional part of the game's design
Snaking was intended to be in the game, so it is not a programming error. I don't know much about wavedashing but afaik, it was not intended to be used in the way that it is.

Wavedashing is a glitch. You aren't supposed to slide around when you air dodge at an angle with the ground. Snaking isn't really a glitch. You are supposed to gain speed when you power slide.

I can do both, but choose not to wavedash. I'm quite glad it's not in Brawl...

There needs to be some kind of name for "glitches" that aren't so much glitches as they are taking advantage of certain moves in a rapid enough succession that the game gets confused. I mean, maybe those two mean the same thing, but they just seem different to me.

Exploits?

Also snaking was a totally intentional mechanic in MKDS.
That was a joke.

Intentional in MKDS, but it did not come from there. Snaking came about with Mario Kart: Double Dash!!'s new power-sliding system and remained unchanged in MKDS. If SSBM's air dodging mechanic remained unchanged into Brawl, then you could also say wavedashing was intentional there.

To change the subject of [insert whatever you prefer to call wavedashing and snaking], I'd like to say I'm very happy for this snow day I had today. It meant a day of relaxation for me, which means YouTube and guitar/bass all day. Yay.

That is considered spamming. you gotta have a reason to be hopeful here.

I thought spamming was trying to sell people junk that they don't need, or advertising.

No, those are called "infomercials."  But if I go into that, I'll become all angst-ridden.

On a hopeful note, I am going down to Fort Myers, Florida for Spring Break.  I'm visiting my grandparents for a week.  Hopefully, they have a strong enough wireless internet connection for me to get on the Wi-Fi network.  And hopefully, I'll see some of you in Mario Kart action.
I always figured "Time to tip the scales" was Wario's everyday motto.
