Video Game Chat / Do You Use The Remote Jacket?
« on: January 09, 2008, 10:20:27 PM »
The excitement of the Wii Remote Jacket has now worn off, and it's been long enough that everyone who wanted one has one.

So after all the dust settled, do you actually use the remote jacket?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Me, I got four but have never even tried it. I probably never will. Unless tons of people post here saying it makes it way better.

General Chat / Your Favorite Joke

Post your absolute favorite joke here.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, I've forgotten millions of jokes over the years, but my current favorite is this:

What did the cannibal do after he dumped his girlfriend?

Wiped.

General Chat / What Do You Actually Do At Your Job?
« on: January 07, 2008, 08:09:17 PM »
I was just thinking that while I know the job of many people here, I don't really know what they actually do and their position and stuff like that. I bet the same applies to you!

-----------------------------------------------

I work at Hastings and am the Lifestyles Team Leader, which translates in English to music manager. I'm essentially the boss of the music department and set displays and new releases, order stuff we need extra of (most incoming shipments are corporate automated), set local artists up to sell their stuff with us on consignment and pay local artists who have sold, and tell n00bs working in music what to do. Oh yeah, and lots and lots of helping people find whatever random CD they're looking for and/or ordering stuff for them. Technically videogames and boutique (which is all the junk like T-shirts, toys, trinkets (think Hot Topic/Spencers)) are also in my domain but both have their own dedicated person so I don't worry about them unless something goes seriously awry.

I'm also café-trained so I cover a lot of baristi's breaks and even work the occasional full café shift. They are all female so I also spend a lot of time hitting on said baristi.

All in all, it beats my last job of selling makeup over the telephone.

Seeing as Guitar Hero III hits on Sunday and people have been clogging up other threads with GH talk, we really need a thread for GH-related banter!

First of all, if you haven't already, you can sign-up on www.guitarhero.com and join our group, Feeding Me Bread. When we're in the same group, we can compare scores and such across platforms.

I played the 5-song demo from Xbox Live and each song rocked hard. Neversoft done 'er good. I 5-starred them all first try. ^_^

I was looking at the achievements, and a scary amount of them require playing through the entire career (with stuff like being the 2nd player or using Lefty mode or using the freaking controller). There are also three or so that involve winning 15 consecutive ranked online matches! Make sure to try to do these before your TrueSkill gets high and you have to face good people.

The game also contains the second-evilest achievement I have ever seen. You must play and beat a developer of the game. As seen here, said devs will only be playing from 6-9 PM EST Nov. 2 Friday. I will pray to Apollo every day that I manage to earn this achievement. Failure will result in not being able to 1000/1000 GH3 ever.

General Chat / The Official TEM Fanclub

To join, you simply must post a pic like mine, then we can discuss how cool TEM is, what TEM really stands for, and learn from TEM's teachings gathered from his time bashing animals with bones in the desert.

General Chat / Lizard Dude Random Contest #2 [Funny Farm]
« on: September 16, 2007, 02:03:03 AM »
Here's the game, kids!

In this contest, the funniest person wins. If you haven't been funny up to this point, well here's your chance because I'm erasing everybody's record!

All judging will be based solely on ONE (1) PM to me. This PM can contain a picture, a link to something funny, a joke you type up, a lolcat, a burn on somebody, whatever, anything. The PM I deem funniest after exactly one week from this posting will be the winner.

Submitting more than one PM to me during the duration of the contest will disqualify you. Lizard Dude retains sole right to judge humor. Remember, you are trying to make me laugh. Also remember that you have a week, so you might not want to rush your one chance at submission.

Winner shall receive any videogame of their choice, max price $60. If you're one of those people who "don't want to win the prize", please enter anyway and then donate the prize to the person of your choice! Lizard Dude reserves the right to withhold any prize if deemed neccessary.

For those about to be funny, I salute you.

Mario Chat / Don't Move, Mario!
« on: August 22, 2007, 10:50:33 PM »
This Joystiq post has an uber collection of hacked SMW levels where the stage automatically beats itself, without Mario having to do anything.

My favorite is the 4th one down, where it goes to the music!

Video Game Chat / Bloody Wolf -- The Best VC Game
« on: June 29, 2007, 01:56:13 AM »
The best game on Virtual Console is really Bloody Wolf. You probably don't believe me, but you just gotta d/l it and play it. No one had heard of it but my friend randomly downloaded and taught us all the sheer awesomeness hidden within.

+ The game is really fun and challenging. The final boss took me like 50 tries to beat.

+ It has the best writing of any game I've ever seen. I'm not joking. You just have to read it to see what I mean.

+ You get to pick your own codename. Seriously, how many other 16-bit games let you do that?

Get Bloody Wolf. Play Bloody Wolf. Live Bloody Wolf.

Talk about Bloody Wolf here.

A while back, Nintendo put out the call for fans to submit Nintendo-themed short films. The top ten finalists are now up on this page with the winner to be announced on the 18th. Viewers can vote, but it's "just for fun". Check out the official rules for the prizes. Grand prize gets their video shown at a theater in New York.

Who do you think should win?
