Author Topic: SMB Theme - The (In)Complete List  (Read 22349 times)

« on: February 24, 2006, 10:01:56 AM »
I am making a list in which all the games in which the main-theme of Super Mario Bros. (the BGM of world 1-1 and all the other overworld-levels) shall be mentioned in the future and I need your help to achieve this goal. I listed many titles with the theme (remixes also count) but many games are missing whom I don't know exactly if and when the tune plays.
Everyone who helps me will be credited at the end of the list. The list is also viewable at my website (http://otaku1990.ot.funpic.de/wb/pages/special-features/smb-theme--the-incomplete-list.php), but I'll post it here too, if that's okay.

If you sight any expression mistakes in the list I would appreciate if you mentioned them (I am still learning English so I make mistakes here and there). Thanks for your help.

In Mario Tennis: Power Tour for GBA, the main Mario theme plays during the end credits.

Thank you very much ^__^
I've updated the list and put your names at the end.

For DDR:Mario Mix, The songs that have the main theme are:

Here We GO!
Hammer Dance
Step by Step
Pirate Dance
Here We Go is a remix of the original theme, thank you for that. But the rests are remixes of other Mario-BGMs e.g. from SMB3. These don't count.

When was there a Donut Plains in SSB? :p (I'm pretty sure you meant SSBM.
In the german version of SSB the classical SMB-stage is called "Donut Ebene" which is Donut Plains in English. But you're right, it's called simply "Mushroom Kingdom" in the NTSC version (so says Wikipedia^^"). I edited it.

and now here's some that aren't even on your list.. :)

*these are in no particual order*

1) -Mario Party 3
(opening movie has some of the theme)

2) -Mario Golf 64
(I think it was Speed Golf that had the theme..)

3) -Super Mario Land
(driving the submarine and the airplane. Both stages had a variation on the theme)
1) I checked the intro but wasn't able to hear one single note of the theme. Did you really mean the video with Millenium Star falling in Peach's garden?

2) It was Get Character :) Thank you.

3) The influence of the original SMB-theme was to vague to me so I didn't add these two themes to the list. But thank you anyhow.

In Mario Tennis: Power Tour for GBA, the main Mario theme plays during the end credits.
I wasn't able to check it, so I just added this "sighting" to list by relying on you ;)

Btw: Last night I played Mario Party 3 with a friend of mine as I noticed that a item called "Telekauf" (Cellular Shooper in English) plays the first six notes of the theme as you use it. I love this little hidden details^^

Oh, Donkey Konga was obvious. Can't believe I forgot this one. Well, at first even SSBM wasn't in, altough it is one of my alltime-favourites o_O"

Hm... I should make another section featuring "Other Plattforms" so I can include Drum Master.

In Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour for the Nintendo Gamecube, Peach sings the first six notes on the character select screen.
Neat little detail. Added^^

Tetris DS has a remix of the SMB overworld theme in it. Or at least in this video. It may change before release, however.
This one was already included.

Yea, during the part where the Millenium STar makes his appearance. I'll plug up my N64 and see if I can time it and give an exact timing of when to listen.. :)

.. and here's a few more I thought of.. :D

-Super Mario Bros 3
(Music Box music that makes the Hammer Bros on maps fall asleep)

-Mario Party 2
(Mystery Land Board has a couple of the bars floating around in it)

-Paper Mario
(when you turn yourself into 8-bit by dropping into a pot in one of the rooms of the Haunted House)

-Paper Mario 2
(can be heard during regular battles [someone else has already mentioned this])
(when you turn yourself into 8-bit by dropping through the celing in the Moon Base)
(a remix is heard at the beginning of every chapter [I think someone else has already said this one, too])

Super Mario Advance 4 - see Super Mario Bros. 3 above
Super Mario 64 - intro notes played upon level entry
Animal Crossing - if nothing else, from the SMB NES game
Daigasso! Band Brothers - the SMB theme is part of a Mario medley

Super Mario Land - I'd remove that entry

1) Added.
2) Excuse me?^^" (It's not in the Mystery Land-BGM, but I am sure you meant something different)
3) Classic one ;-) Added.
4) I have to check the last one. In Paper Mario 1 there was the same thing.

Super Mario Land - I'd remove that entry
I didn't even want to add this one @_@ Why did I do this anyhow?
Well, now it's gone.

I'm pretty sure I could hear parts of it floating around in the Mystery Land theme.. maybe I'm just listening too hard. :P

.. and I thought of one more I'm pretty sure no one has added yet..

Mario Party 5
(the background music to the slot machine game)
(the music that plays for the Chance Time [or trading fortune] spaces)
(the music that plays during the Coin Cache game sounds like it was derived from the SMB theme)

1) and 2) have the same BGM in which some notes of the SMB-Theme seem to be used. It's very vague, but I'll add it.
But during the Coin Cache-minigame there is an other BGM which (at least in the german version) does not sound like the theme,
in my opinion.

in pm:ttyd, the whole battle music is a remixed version of the mario theme, not just the first six notes.

also M&LPiT has the theme in some parts of the mushroom kingdom overworld.

M&LSS has the theme near mario and Luigi's house, which the song is mixed partioally with a smb3 song (1st world map music). - also, i believe mario is humming the theme in the shower

In WarioWare for GBA, there's a mini-game for the first stage of the game. (Wario and only 10 microgames.) One of the games is Wario stepping on the goomba and the music sounds like 1-1 and souns more like it when you speed up.

Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes A Day - After performing daily training at a certain speed, a man walks across the screen who will whistle the first 6 notes of the theme.

Incidentally enough, I never can get to see that now, since my brain age has halved itself. Yesss.

EDIT: I didn't see that Lizard Dude already beat me to it. My bad.

There's another one, exclusively to SMA4. I wasn't even playing it when it struck me; in the intro that is shown before the title screen, listen to the music when Peach is talking to the Mario Bros.
All your dreeeeeeams begiiin to shatterrrrrr~

Also in SMA4, it's the BGM for the "Classic World 1-1" E-Reader stage.

You may want to add that the overworld theme is in the Sound Test feature on SSBM.

Just a thought.

- Paper Mario
(plays when entering a new chapter)
(played by the phonograph in Lady Bow's mansion)
(BGM of the 8-bit cameo)
(plays during the credits)

That last entry for Paper Mario 64 is wrong. The theme that plays during the credits parade is from SMW, not SMB.

Mario Tennis(GBC)- Theme Music for the Star Court (Mario's level.)

Super Mario Advance 4(GBA)- Classic World 1-1 (E-Reader level.)

The appearance of the Millenium Star is in Mario Party 3. It's in Story Mode. When Mario and his friends argue about who wants the star.
