I'm at the Smithy fight now, but I'm not sure if I want to beat the game yet. I want to know if anyone knows if it's worth it to go back out of Bowser's Keep to go back and do some of the side-quests (Grate Guy's Casino, Culex, Fireworks, etc.) or if I should just try and beat it.

Born To Play:

"What if everything you see is more than what you see– the person next to you is a warrior and the space that appears empty is a secret door to another world? What if something appears that shouldn''t? You either dismiss it, or you accept that there is much more to the world than you think. Perhaps it really is a doorway, and if you choose to go inside, you''''ll find many unexpected things."

What does the Quartz Charm do anyway? It doesn't boost my stats and the description says "shining source of power!" I don't get it.

Oh, yeah! My opinion is do everything before you beat it. It's an RPG, AND it's backed by Square(Soft)! Final Fantasy fans should get my drift.

The Quartz Charm prevents one-hit KO's, very helpful against Smithy when he's in Tank form and decides to use that **** magnum attack or whatever.

Super Mario RPG is one of my personal favorite Mario games [it is one of the best Mario games ever made!].

I had a HARD time trying to beat Clulex...I tried and I tried, but I never could beat that son of a b*tch!

Paper Mario is another one of my all-time favorite Mario games! Kent C. Koopa was a tough boss to beat, because he was practically invincible when he wasn't flipped over on his shell...

One of the hardest bosses in Paper Mario was the Crystal King... I hated that attack he always did. It was the attack when he would suck in those Ice Crystals and spit them out at you, taking 5 points from your health meter with every hit! It was also confusing when he would duplicate himself into 3 clones!

Anyway, do you think I should keep my N64 when I get a GameCube? Or do you think I'm better off getting rid of my N64...

well, to beat Culex, I used Mario, Peach, and Bowser. Give Peach the Lazy shell armour (brings her attack down, but she sucked so its not much of a loss, but every hit will only do 1 or 2 damage) and give Mario the Lazy Shell.Bowser's not very important, he's just kind of like an extra target so Mario wont get nailed as much. Have Mario and Bowser pound away on Culex, NOT THOSE CRYSTALS (they die with culex. eventually, they will just run out of FP). When Mario dies, use Peach to revive him. If Bowser dies, only revive him if you have the chance (If mario isn't going to die next turn).

Just keep doing that and Culex is gone, and you have the Quartz Charm.

Why not Mallow? He can heal Peach if she is weakened but needs to revive Mario. Also, Mallow's Shocker and Star Rain Attacks work great. (Maybe use Star Rain until the crystals die (you want to decrease your exposure, trust me) then use Shocker, it only hits one monster, but is his strongest attack, plus it costs less FP, but bring tons of Royal Syrups anyway, Peach'll need 'em)

Get the Safety Badge and Ring, you'll need them against Culex and Smithy. The Badge protects against all abnormal status (it only says Mute and Poison, but it works against transformations and Sleep too) and the Ring protects you from nearly EVERY Special Attack (very useful against Culex and Smithy). Both are in the Sunken Ship: you get the Badge for taking out Hidin, and the Ring is behind the barrels in the last flooded room (the one with the Bloober and its three babies).

the safety badge and ring would help, but I found I had no need to use them. As for Mallow, I didnt use him cuz he was too weak so I swapped him for Peach. As far as the Mallow-healing-peach thing goes, nope! Trust me, you will not need to heal Peach, each attack will only do max 1 damage if she has lazy shell armor. all you need is quite a bit of those maple syrups I think theyre called. As for swapping Bowser with Mallow, I dont recommend it, but it could be done if you used Mallow alot and he is fairly strong. I used bowser because I had his attack way up there, and his defense and HP were good too.
