It wasn't a joke joke.  It was more of a friendly jibe--a little non-attempt at making someone's life difficult.  I guess the humor is in how life can, in fact, be made difficult by such small things--as I'm sure everyone has had such an experience.

Anyway, looking at your list, Super Paper Mario 64 would probably be the most interesting of the bunch... but I'm somewhat disappointed at the absence of Virtual Paper Mario:  The ol' Big Red is practically begging for Paper!

Hmm.. Virtual Paper Mario is one that I seem to have missed (I wasn't a big fan of the VB..)

Yeah, but there weren't any Sidesteppers and Fighterflies in any Mario game besides MB, so the question is, were the enemies in MB really Bowser's troops?

There were Fighter Flies in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. Maybe Sidesteppers too (been awhile since I've played..)

I think the enemies in MB were evil, but didn't necesarily work for Bowser. Mabey they just took it upon themsevles to try and stop these mere plumbers from getting into the Mushroom Kingdom.

Ok, so I went a bit nuts with the list. But I think the ideas for a Paper Mario Kart or a Paper Mario Party isn't too far off.. they've already started using Paper Mario characters in non-PM games (like the Star Spirits in MP5, or the Spike Goomba in MP7), and Luigi's adventure in PM2 said that he went go kart racing on Circuit Break Island (that may not be the right part, but anyway..)

Ok, I don't think this is really all that great a topic, but some of those did sound fun after I thought of them, after the first PM game came out. :)

It doesn't make sense now, if Charlie Brown (Peanuts) doesn't get the Little Red-Haired Girl, then why does Jon get Liz after all these years?

The creator of Charlie Brown (bless his soul) died before he could put Chuck and Red together. That's what my theory is, anyway.

I've always wondered what would happen if Nintendo decided to cross their Mario franchises. It started out small, with Mario Party 5. Remember who the hosts of each mode were? That's right, the Star Spirits from the first PM game. Now, we are getting Super Paper Mario, which is just SMB with paper characters, see.

So, if the trend continues, we should see..

Paper Donkey Kong (paper version of arcade DK)
Paper Mario World
Paper Mario Land
Paper Mario 64
Paper Mario Sunshine
Paper Luigi's Mansion
Paper Mario's Picross
Paper DR Mario
Paper Mario Kart
Paper Mario Party
Paper Mario Tennis
Paper Mario Golf
Paper DDR with Mario
Paper Mario Baseball
Paper Mario Soccer
Paper Mario Basketball
Paper Mario RPG (paper version of the original Mario RPG)
Paper Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga

.. and if they wanted to go to extremes..

Paper Mario is Missing
Paper Mario's Time Machine

.. and no, this is not a joke topic. I made the same topic at GameFAQs (on the Super Paper Mario board, I think), and they thought it was a joke.

Mario Chat / Mario Cameos in Mario Games

I was playing Mario Party 5 earlier today when I noticed that many of the areas that the minigames use look like areas that are from past Mario Parties. I thought we could start a list of them here, much like we did with the SMB theme list. This list doesn't have to be just Mario Party, though. If you have seen something that is in one Mario game that looks like it came from another Mario game, then feel free to post it here. Anyway..

*Mario Party 5*

Flatiator- the 5 trees surrounding the area are in the same order as the 5 trees in the park area of Mario Party 2's Minigame Park

Duel Minigames- All seem to take place in an area that looks similar to Western Land, from Mario Party 2

Rainbow Dream- the starting area on the board has a turbine on it which looks just like the one in the minigame in Mario Party 2 that involved a turbine (1 vs 3 game, Shock Drop or Roll).

*Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga*

Roy's Room- Roy's room has a sidescrolling area that only small Mario can get into. When you get near the end of the area, there is a Bowser suit being held up by some rope above a bridge, and an axe is at the far right. When you jump on the axe, the bridge falls apart and the Bowser suit is thrown into the lava. This is very much like the 4th level of every world in the original SMB.

*Edit: I found the names of the 1 vs 3 minigame, and the Koopaling with the sidescroller area.*

The statement refers to sleep-talking, actually.  It was a while ago, but if you click the quote link, you can see what they were talking about.

What link? I don't see a link anywhere on the whole.. (10?) pages of this topic.

I'm probably the only one who thinks this, but I think it's funny if you have a human player in one of the first two Mario Parties, and you play one of the RC-cars minigames (the real name of the game escapes me right now) then when you run by the human that's not in motion, you knock them off the track and out of the minigame. It's quite funny.

I'm not sure Mario really has all that much money......

How does money work for super heros anyway?

Well, I don't know about super heros, but the Mario Bros don't have to work hard for money, considering that it is floating around in the air, and hidden in boxes, in the world that they are in.

All they have to do is punch a few blocks and then they could afford quite nearly anything, I'm sure.

Could it be that the paintings were based on real life locations in the Mushroom World?

I like that idea, the paintings being based on Mushroom locations.

.. and here is something else: I don't think that Peach has many castles (one for ceremonies, one for art, etc..) I think that the castle we see in every game is the same castle, just has been renovated, or magically changed.

SM64 saw that Bowser was trying to take over the Kingdom (again), this time by taking power from the castle, right? Well, when Mario defeated Bowser, what if the "evil" things that Bowser did disappeared? That would make the castle change it's shape/form to accomodate what has/had happened, and it's not like it's hard for Peach to save money for castle renovations when coins float around in the sky.

Speaking of coins, why do they float? I've never seen money that floats around like that.. and how come coins aren't just floating around in the RPG games (instead, held inside boxes or dropped by enemies)?

I doubt her sister would tell her something like that anyway (Vivian had an inferior complex, and wasn't the brightest bulb in the bunch). Beldam might of explained it to Vivian as a game of sorts (or she may not have explained it to her at all, for fear Vivian would have spilled the beans to the heros.)

Hmm.. I guess that makes sense. I'm going with the "she kept her lips sealed as a plot device" theory.

Here's another question now, along the same lines: why didn't the Shadow Queen recoginze that she was there? I thought that all 3 Sirens were at least 1,000 years old.

.. and here's a question not relating to Paper Mario: in the old SMB game (and now, the New SMB), why does the Mushroom Kingdom need that many castles (and/or fortresses)? The old game had a flagpole and castle for each level, and a big castle for the World you were in. The castles, I get, but the forts.. why did they need 24 fortresses? (and even more in New SMB, since the secret exits in that game have red flags)
