Arrrgh! Sorry for the no responses but had to go home from uni for a few days and i forgot my password! couldn't reply. Anyway, if we're buying then i'll have a Shirt (5gp) and a mushroom(3gp). Yoshizu, you should get a sticky tongue and a mushroom because you dont need flower points, but it's up to you.

M.M. can you use your items on other people?

(p.s.- I got 40 hits with Ness using PK fire!)

(I think you may have to have set times that everyone is playing this RPG once all the players are taken because otherwise all the players will never be online together...)

p.s.-Do we have any stuff on us except for money, Mario Master?

Here's mine. Some new, some already been mentioned:

5)SMRPG - Chasing Wooster up the hill
4)SMB - Water theme
3)SM64 - Rainbow road (you know, the last SM64 level, not MK)
2)SMBSS - "Do the Mario" by Lou Albano
1)PM - Getting chased by Tubba Blubba theme (I could whistle that song for ever!)

Right, now for my non-Mario top ten (I tried five but couldn't narrow them down enough):

10)Zelda 2 - Dungeon theme
9)Kirby's dream land - End credits theme (It's similar to the Green Greens level on SSBM but much faster and, of course, beepier!)
8)SSBM - The secret music on Battlefield level
7)DK64 - End fight with K.Rool music (isn't that just the best damb boss fight ever invented!)
6)Zelda OOT - The music you get against the fire bosses ( the big dodongo and the dragon) 'cause my hairs still stand on end when that music is playing!
5)DK64 - The DK rap (much better than on SSBM in my view)
4)Tetris - Song A (you know the one!)
3)Zelda Link's awakening - Bottle grotto dungeon
2)Luigi's mansion - The main theme with Luigi's humming (gets better as he gets more scared!)
1)Tetris attack - Yoshi's theme (OH GOD! It's stuck in my head right now!)

Great! I like the sound of all that. It's about time Nintendo got some recognition for their recent astounding games.

Congratulations Nintendo!

An animator once saw a street bum, "Mario" Pedianni, and wanted to use his likeness in a cartoon, offering him a percentage of all future royalties or a bottle of cheap scotch. Pedianni took the scotch. Nothing''s stupider than a skid row plumber.

It would have to be the first nintendo adventure book I got, Double Trouble. Then I would hassle him to sign all the others!

Yes, sorry I haven't posted for two weeks or so. I've been doing exams but now they're done so i'll be posting again. And yes, the board seems to have grown in member size since I was last here, which is very pleasing to see!

Bah! I so want to play that game. But, as I live  in the UK, I dont think i'll be playing it for a long time thanks to PAL translation. I wouldn't be suprised if it doesn't make it over here actually...

Think about it though. I jumped from a sinclair 128K (you may not know what this is) to a Nintendo and this was, to me, a gigantic leap in graphics and this was one of the main reasons that I got one. Graphics has always been one of a consoles best selling points.

Also, I think that good graphics is becoming more essential these days because games designers are not putting effort into producing original gameplay ideas because ideas are running out and, well, they dont feel they need to when all they have to do is copy other peoples sucessful ideas and massivly increase the graphical beauty and it will sell.

Mario Chat / Re: Remaking old Mario games on GBA...

Like I said at the end  of my post I knew what I had written on the subject seemed strongly anti-Nintendo. I'm sorry Chupperson Weird if I gave out that impression and will rephrase my argument:

1-It is the PRICE of the games that bothered me. Full price for a completely (except a few sound and graphics alterations) unchanged game. I know that I am a hipocrit for saying this because one of my favorite games at the moment is SSBM which is a remake of SSB. But there are so many hundreds of changes and improvements in SSBM that it can hardly be called a remake. Nintendo could have followed this and advanced on the Mario games with more levels, ideas and such (I am going to get such a beating for even SUGGESTING the Mario games could be improved...)
2-(technicaly point one from a different angle)Capcom are re-releasing resi 2 and 3 for the gamecube. However, the games are (unlike 0,1 and especialy 4!) straight copies of the older versions. I heard the games will be coming out at half price or even less because of this. Nintendo should have done this with their straight Mario game remakes in my opinion.
3-I completey agree that it is a novelty that the games can be played away from home but does this warrent them being full price?

And thats the point I (failed) to put forward before. (I think I still failed actually)

Welcome to the Fungi Forums!

That is a shame but as long as they all appear on the gamecube then it isn't so bad.

However, this act by Capcom worries me because I was hoping that they would someday become a 2nd party Nintendo developer (like Rare was) but now it looks unlikely...

Mario Chat / Remaking old Mario games on GBA...
« on: January 17, 2003, 06:48:55 PM »
I was just wondering what peoples views are on Nintendo's strategy of bringing out all the old Mario games as conversions on the GBA. When I first heard of the GBA and that a Mario launch title was being made for it, I knew I was getting one as soon as it came out. I was very puzzled and annoyed when I found out that the Mario launch title was going to be a slightly tweaked SMB2 with MB thrown in (and the fact they were charging full price for what was basically a game identicle to the 14 year old original made me think what Nintendo must take their fans for...).

It's the same story for all the super mario advance series. I already own all the Mario titles and I can't see why I would need to spend more money buying, what is essentialy, a low res version of the game with more sounds...

I own a GBA but no super mario advance games. Not until they (if they EVER do) make a brand new adventure. I am pitting all my hopes on SMA4 being a new title but with Nitendo's insulting stategy involving the Mario titles seems now in full motion now and they are content with raking in peoples cash bu selling us games we probably already own.

I know I'm being harsh and I consider Nintendo to be very good to its fans on the whole but I just wish that they would go back to doing what they did best on handhelds: fun and ORIGINAL games...

Anyway, anyone have any other views?
