Actually, the record was for the endless version of Pair-A-Gone, not the one where you just clear the cards. I don't have the patience to make 1,036 coins in that.

Finally, my hard work pays off. Anyway, Luigison: The only way to get over 100 coins in any place is to scour it thoroughly. Getting 100 coins should be easier than it was in the original! I'm currently working on Bob-omb Battlefield...

 Bad news, Luigison!

Bob-omb Battlefield = 166 coins. I almost didn't make it... Until I noticed I had a red coin missing. "Upward and onward, whee!"
Next up: Jolly Roger Bay.

Luigison: I started with your Mario cap icon. All I had to do was recolor it and make the "M" look like a "W".

I'm on a roll today!
Jolly Roger Bay = 131 coins

EDIT: Almost forgot!
Whomp's Fortress = 193 coins
Cool, Cool Mountain = 178 coins
Lethal Lava Land = 208 coins       <-Yay!
Tick Tock Clock = 130 coins <-Max, I think

Don't forget I've unlocked everybody now. And, my footrace time is WITHOUT warping. Just wanted to clear that up.

New:

Shifting Sand Land: 164 coins

Luigison, you could simply scan some of the nice hat renders from the manual. That is, unless you want the icons that appear in the menu screen. Please be aware that the W in Wario's cap is a bit more purple than blue.

Wow! I actually have no idea how you could get that many coins in Cold, Cold Mountain. I'd better start investigating!

There's only one minigame I'm good at, and it's still not enough. However... I reattempted Cool, Cool Mountain. And got...

Cool, Cool Mountain = 255 coins

Maxed out, phew!

According to the Official Nintendo.com Game Strategy there are only 146 coins in Bob-omb Battlefield, but I found 165 and Suffix found 166.  I think there still may be one or two more.  There are a few other mistakes in their guide.  I wonder if the guys that wrote it are Mario fans.

That's number of coins appearant (note "on the course). But, thanks to the great replicating effect...

Anyway, thanks for reminding me! Two new records!

Tiny-Huge Land: 188 coins
Lethal Lava Land: 212 coins

I reached the boiling point in Lethal Lava Land (pun intended). It has rose to be first on my least favorite course list.
EDIT: I just realised that ALL my high-scores are higher than the supposed "amount of coins." This includes the non-replicating areas! Perhaps they should have asked the programmers first.

On the original SM64, I remember getting over 200 coins in Tiny-Huge Island. I don't know if they changed anything about the level... I do remember being disappointed that I didn't get another star.

I am missing 1 and exactly 1 secret star to complete my 150. I've looked almost everywhere. Can't find it. Any ideas as to the more obscure stars?

Ooo! Yes! I know exactly! Try all the portraits! Particularly Luigi's. Hint, hint.

To the best of my knowledge, I have both stars in all three portrait levels. Unless Luigi's has three for some reason.
