Well, since everyone else's doing it...

Here's a picture I drew recently of a flabbergast Mario.

And here's a picture of all the SMB2 enemies I drew 5 years ago, when I was experimenting with computer drawing, mainly in MS Paint. I remember that I put about 10 hours of time into this one.

General Chat / Animal Crossing Movie Fandub
« on: January 06, 2009, 10:33:42 AM »
As you may or may not know, a movie based on Animal Crossing: Wild World was released in Japan in late 2006. I was able to get a hold of the DVD in late August 2007. Despite its "video game turned movie" status, I find it quite entertaining to watch. Recently, I came across on YouTube an English fandub of the movie (the first half for now) and it's done amazingly well. I thought I'd share it here.

Not at the Dinner Table / Homosexuality and Same-Sex Marriage
« on: September 22, 2008, 10:27:05 PM »
This has come up several times before, but what are your views on homosexuality?

Personally, I have mixed views. I tolerate and accept homosexuality as part of our culture, but I still have an underlying discomfort. The same could be said for others as well. For example, a friend of mine's view was "I have no problems with gays, as long as they don't 'do it' right in front of me." In other words, we're both fine with people embracing their homosexuality in their lives, because that's what living life is about– doing what you wish to satisfy your needs and lifestyle, no one has any say in what you can do within your own life. It doesn't bother me if people do things I may disagree with, but I do feel discomfort if their views or behavior is forced on me.

For example, a friend of mine was attending a literature meeting and listening to various readings. One author (my Creative Writing teacher) was gay, and so his personal essay's content was what some may find questionable. Considerably many were uncomfortable, but they put up with it. However, they were also told to ask questions regarding the essay's content, and weren't allowed to leave until they did so. That, I do not think is right. Feeling uncomfortable is one thing, but being forced to participate in something that makes you uncomfortable is another thing altogether.

I'm not sure what else to say, but overall, I accept homosexuality as part of society. Even as a Catholic I don't see it as "evil" or an "abomination." If same-sex marriages take place, it doesn't bother me for there are no negative effects upon my own lifestyle or choices. But like most I do feel a bit of discomfort now and then, but that's my own problem.

I felt inspired to draw this after seeing this post. Excuse the pixel-ness, I had to resize the image after it was too large to see properly, so I'll upload a new one later.

Mario Chat / Most Difficult Prankster Comet
« on: April 29, 2008, 06:36:38 PM »
When you were playing Super Mario Galaxy, there was always that Prankster Comet that made you cringe: for what seemed to be an endless period of time, you just could not beat that challenge. Which one(s) was it?

For me, those two comets were the Daredevil and Purple Comets.

Video Game Chat / The Rumble Feature
« on: June 05, 2007, 07:54:42 PM »
I've been thinking about this for a while. PlayStation 3 received minor criticism for having no rumble feature (unless I'm wrong, which some will descendingly point out if so), but how many actually prefer it? Me personally, sometimes. The Rumble on the Gamecube controller I thought was very subtle (not too noisy or quivery), which I liked. However, concerning the Wii Remote, I turned off the Rumble feature because I found the vibrations and the noise distracting (esspecially every time a button or something on screen is highlighted), and it drains the batteries a lot faster.

Do you like using Rumble Feature?

Mario Chat / MK:DD Team Names
« on: November 13, 2006, 06:54:14 PM »
When I first was completely hooked on Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, I liked to come up with team names for certain character and kart pairs. For example, Baby Mario and Yoshi would be the "Yoshi's Island Heroes"; Mario and Donkey Kong would be the "Old-Timers"; and Luigi and King Boo would be the "Poltergust Pair." I made this topic so we could share any team names we've thought of for some of the 210? possible character pairs.

Some names I just made up:

Mario ~ Baby Mario or Luigi ~ Baby Luigi ... "Pair-o-doxes"
Toad ~ Wario ... "The Monster Bombers"

Hope we have much fun with this!

Mario Chat / Best Mario RPG Villian (SPOILERS)
« on: March 06, 2006, 07:17:29 PM »
Who do you believe is the best villian (final boss) in the Mario RPG series: Smithy (Super Mario RPG), Bowser (Paper Mario), Cackletta (Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga), Shadow Queen (Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door), Princess Shroob (Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time), or Count Bleck (Super Paper Mario)?

I personally like Cackletta.

General Chat / Flashback

Think into your far past. What are the oldest memories you have of your life? I have two memories that I have that I consider to be my oldest:

I remember being in a daycare center as an infant and trying to open a plastic hourglass-like toy.
I remember living at my grandparents' house at the age of two and exploring the basement by myself and looking into the dark and seeing two glowing eyes staring at me. They were in fact, the eyes of their dog Growley I, who is long dead now.

What are the oldest memories that you can possibly recall?

Game Help / SM64DS Star Glitch
« on: August 24, 2005, 02:22:51 PM »
I currently have 149 stars. According to FAQs the star I am looking for is in the Courtyard, and I must kill the Boos to get the 8 Red Coins. However, the Red Coins never appear. It turns out that this star is glitched. I have searched GameFAQs.com for the solution, and I have tried all the solutions offered, but none of them have worked. Does anyone know how to get the last star at this position?
