As well as the next Smash Bros and Mariokart. I'm keeping my hopes high, there is a lot more room for innovation in a 3D game than there is in a platformer.

Back when these forums got started, in the late N64 and early Cube era, there was thread after thread of people begging, pleading, dreaming, and scheming for new 2D Mario platformers.

Now that we get them constantly, sometime multiple a year, as well as 3D brilliance like SM3DL and SMG2, people complain about it.

Because they're all basically the same game.

For the past 4 platforming Mario games, Nintendo has basically made the same game. You could say there are different power ups but that's like saying each Pokemon game is different because it has different Pokemon. The graphics have been the same style since NSMB, and while they try to add things like carrying Yoshis and lots of coins, they come off as cheap gimmicks. I feel Nintendo is going the route of other big corporations and not caring about its customers.

I'm pretty sure that's irony, at least. Maybe dramatic irony.

How so? I meant traditionalist as being what Americans and most Europeans believe is normal these days.

  I'd like to see a game where you play as the different creatures of the Mario universe, and each creature has it's own unique 'feel' that the other creatures don't. Then use it to get to other areas, and such.

I once thought of a real time strategy game where you're Bowser and you had to deploy troops in a 3D level to stop Mario, as well as cannons, etc. Maybe it wouldn't be Mario as he is just one person. Maybe a Toad army led by Mario.
