With everyone excited about Galaxy I thought I might get some opinions.  I think that some of the coolest Mario power ups are in Galaxy.  My votes for the Soar Star.  I love that feeling of free flight.

Correct me if I left out any power ups.  I'm only 50 stars into the game.

El Red Star. I like flying around the Observatory and holding (A) to get a good view of the place. I would choose Bee Mario/Luigi, but his normal jump sucks, and he can't triple jump, super jump, or long jump.

Ice Flower! Fleeting, but awesome (can anyone else skate backwards?).

I too love the new Ice Flower. It's a simple but classic power that for some reason was never used in any Mario game.
As a game that requires six friends, an HDTV, and skill, I can see why the majority of TMK is going to hate on it hard.

Bleh. You can only play as Fire/Ice Mario for, like, 10 seconds. At least you get a long time as Flying Mario.

I think the Ice Flowers were first in the Mario & Luigi games (the second one, if I'm not mistaken?)

Anyway, I'm not going to vote, as I have yet to see all the powerups (I've beat Bowser, but during the credits there's this picture of Mario that looks like he's running on water, and Mario is clear/see through. Is that a power up?

^ Yeah, that'd be Ice Mario.

Why is Flying Mario red and black, anway?

Why not? It's better than that ugly Wing Cap, and it is reminiscent of his SMB3 outfit (but with a black cap)

I've seen several small plants with two leaves that look like the ones you water in Zelda games.  Do these serve any purpose in SMG other than decoration?

I didn't think the Wing Cap was that ugly.  All it had was a pair of tiny, tiny wings sticking out of it.

I have nothing against the Wing Cap, but I like the new suit.

I think Mario was due for a change in style anyway.

Oh, yeah, I forgot he had a black shirt in that one (what was with that, anyway?)... good point.

My brother thought maybe it was the blackness of space combined with traditional Mario red, but I dunno...

I just figured it was the antithesis of the Fire clothing, which would have been better suited for Ice, of course.

The red star.  It reminds me of the Mario in Fleskjerta's Stupid Deaths in Mario 64 series.
That and the effects last longer than fire or ice

I haven't seen this "Red Star" yet, but I have to say that the Ice Flower has the greatest pick-up fanfare of any item in videogame history.

Getting an Ice Flower makes you feel like the King Pimp, king of all pimpdom.

Fire Flower is similar, but the notes are somewhat less pleasing.

The Spring Mushroom was the worst.  It took away some control and replaced it with what seemed like random bouncing.  Not my idea of fun.

It would have been cool if they'd made a Mega Mushroom.  I think it would have been fun to run around as Mega Mario and destroy everything in a 3D world.

My favorite power up is still the Red Star, but the Ice Flower come a close second. I just wish it'd have lasted longer and had more wide open spaces to run through.

The only reason I don't like the rainbow star is because I've misinterpreted a jump at least twice in that state and died. >_<  (I just want to use a normal jump to cross a gap, but then he does that somersault jump, and argh!)
