Mario Chat / Perry?
« on: August 07, 2006, 11:53:53 AM »
I've already beaten Super Princess Peach once, and I'm currently in the process of beating it again.  But in the meantime, does anybody know who Perry actually is?  Do they finally tell you when you get all the items or do they still leave you hanging?

I mistakenly posted this in the General Discussion forum ealier.  Anyway, here are some new screens and comments on Super Princess Peach and New Mario Bros.  Sorry their so poor quality.  :-\

Super Princess Peach:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v217/predalien85/Peachscan.jpg

Main Article: "Ever since news of Peach's DS game was revealed last year, SPP has been in hiding--until now.  The platformer seems to go the 2-D Mario route, but we're hearing that the princess will take on the 40-plus levels in her own way.  After collecting power-ups that fuel Peach's emotions, players will tap into her emotional states to solve puzzles.  How will emoticontrol play out? Japanese gamers will find out October 20."

Top-Left Panel: "Of the four states, this one's hardest to read: Mellow? Blissed out? Chill?"

Top-Right Panel: "How angry will angry get?  We want top see a full-on rampage, not just a tantrum."

Bottom-Left Panel: "We've seen Peach keep her cool in scores of games--now she bawls?"

Bottom-Right Panel: "She's got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in her heart.  What will it do?"

New Mario Bros:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v217/predalien85/Marioscan.jpg

Main Article: "It's been years since we last saw Mario in an all-new side-scroller, and it looks like Nintendo's been saving up lots of ideas.  New Super Mario Bros. retains that classic Mario feel, but introduces all sorts of new visual tricks and gameplay elements.  Who better that the king of platforming to show that the classic genre can still offer something fresh and different?"

Middle Screenshot: "New Super Mario Bros. features a two-player co-op mode--a first for the series."

Bottom Screenshot: "Not content simply to keep Luigi out of the limelight, Mario now uses his brother as a human shield.  Maybe next time Luigi should leave his hotshot sibling to rot in the haunted mansion."

Mario Chat / News on DS games.
« on: September 22, 2005, 02:13:07 PM »
Hey everybody.  I just wanted to say that the new issue of Nintendo Power has some coverage (although very little) of Super Princess Peach and New Mario Bros.

Apparently Peach's emotions play a role in Super Princess Peach, and New Mario Bros does in fact feature a two player co-op option.  I can scan them and post them if you want.

I found three new screens of New Mario Bros on Gamespot.

The middle one seems to show the supposed co-op feature in action.

Ok, so I'm not sure if these pics have been doctored or not.  I found them on Gamespot, so I'm pretty sure they're legit.  Anyway, withough further ado, I give you pics of both Mario&Luigi 2, as well as the Nintendo Revolution and Gamboy Mini:

*SPOILERS*

Notice that both Baby Mario and Baby Luigi seem to exist in the same time-frame with their adult counterparts.  Does this mean that the game features time travel?  Or are they perhaps Mario and Luigi's children?  We'll just have to wait and see.

Mario Chat / Super Mario/D&D Conversion.
« on: January 08, 2005, 07:27:09 PM »
Is anybody in here interested or familiar with Dungeons & Dragons?  I ask because I've recently started work on a D&D conversion based on the Marioverse.  If anybody wants me to post more as it comes along then I would be more than glad to do so.

Mario Chat / Mariology (serious posts wanted)
« on: January 02, 2005, 01:52:58 AM »
Ok, so I don't know about everybody else but I personally have always had an interest in the workings of the Mario universe (AKA "Mariology").  So I decided to start this thread up in hopes of providing a place for people to have some actual serious discussions about the topic at hand.

Now, I know alot of you are saying "But Miyamoto has specifically said that Mario has no set storyline or any set rules".  But I say who cares?  That doesn't mean we can't still post out own theories and ideas about stuff.

Anyway, I wanted to start things off with a topic that's been bugging me for a while, which is, what exactly is the situation with humans in the Marioverse?  I personally believe that the majority of the humans in the Mushroom Kingdom have been wiped out.  After all, we know that there obviously are humans in the Marioverse, as rare as they may be.  For example, we have Princess Peach, Princess Daisy, Mario and Luigi (of course), Il Piantissimo, and we see Mario and Luigi's parents at the end of Yoshi's Island.  So I'm thinking that there used to be a large number of humans in the Mushroom Kingdom but they have all since been wiped out.  Possibly by a previous war or maybe even a plague.

Anyway, please feel free to reply and post your own ideas.  Although, like I said in the title, I'd appreciate it if we kept this a serious thread and not have people saying "here's the perfect explanation, it's a game".

The Mushroom Kingdom, for hundreds of years this peaceful society of mushrooms has existed in harmony with the world around it.  But all of that changed with the rising of the Koopa Klan, an empire of turtle-like beings proficient in the dark arts and led by the tyrannical King Bowser Koopa.  The war between the Mushrooms and the Koopas lasted for decades eventually ending in the enslavement of the majority of the Mushrooms.

But then, just as the hope of the people had vanished and all seemed lost there came Mario Brothers.  Two of the last surviving members of the race of men rose up and led the race of Mushrooms to victory over the empire of Koopa time and time again.  However, all was not well with the brothers.

It has been ten years since the Mario Brothers defeated the evil King Koopa for the last time.  Ten years since the Koopa Klan was disbanded for good.  And ten years since the brothers, themselves, have been heard from.  And now, the Mushroom Kingdom faces a new threat.  The help of the brothers Mario is needed once again.  But as darkness falls across the land and the tides of evil spread further into the hearts of the people, will the heroes rise again?  Or will the Mushroom Kingdom face it’s final hours?

Mario Chat / You're thoughts on the status of Mario Bros. DS
« on: December 13, 2004, 07:38:09 PM »
The title pretty much says it all.  Do you think it will actually end up in our DS's or do you think it will be doomed to suffer the same fate as Mario128?  To be perfectly honest, I don't think it will ever come out.  It seems more like a tech-demo only thing to me.  Kind of like the Gamecube demo of all the Marios running around and picking up blocks.

Anyway, I'm interested in hearing what all you guys think about the situation.

The title says it all.  I can't imagine why they wouldn't include them in the design, but I havn't been able to find a single picture where you can see them for sure.  Anwyay, I just wanted to make sure.

Mario Chat / Kings of Mario Bros. 3
« on: September 09, 2004, 02:10:44 PM »
I'm writing a fanfic and I wanted to ask if anybody could tell me what king corresponds to what country in Super Mario Bros. 3.  It's been so long since I've played it I don't even remember anymore ^_^().

Anyway, I'd really appreciate it.
