-Pawned
-There is no way to pronounce [pwn].

I pronounce it the same as "owned", just type it with a p.

You can't actually pronounce pwn in real life. The word pwn was coined in 1999 (I think) by Counter-Strike player Chris...uh, McVredremwenen. Anyway, Chris McVredremwenen was typing about how he "owned" someone, a phrase coined in 1997 by Doom II champion ...erm, Jeff...Smitty, and accidentally hit a P instead of an O. Therefore, the language known as l33t was born. The word l33t was coined in 2000 by Tim Webresdevncer.

I jokingly pronounce it the way it's spelled. "puh-wuh-un" as a one syllable word.
I've heard it pronounced "pawn", before, so I assumed that was the accepted pronunciation.
Of course, until recently, I didn't even know what the word meant...

I rarely use it, but I did recently as "pawned!" when I was playing chess. My pawn got a knight or something so I said "pawned!" Pretty appropriate, huh?

I always thought it was pawned, just because a pawn in a chess game is the weakest piece.

Don't listen to Glorb; 1337 has been around long, long before 1999, 1997, and 2000.

It's pronounced (I pronounce it) powned. Not like pound, either. Like Edgar Allan.

Al Capwned

Yeah I pronounce it powned too.

Okay, "pwn" came out to be just a typo of "own", so there isn't really a right way to pronounce pwn. People say it because it is supposed to be better than "owned". I hope that cleared this up.

A guy at work today pronounced it "powned," which is the way I, Lizard Dude, TEM, and everyone else smart pronounces it.
Khold is wrong.
That was a joke.

I say powned too, and UrbanDictionary.com also shows that more people say it that way.

Everyone else just got pwned.

Talking in LEET IRL is awesome. Last night a bunch of friends and I were going "NO WAI," "ORLY," "YARLY," mentioning "teh intarweb,"and "I less-than-three you!" (better known as "<3"). 'Twas teh awesomeness. (We were also looking at pictures of those infamous owls... XD ) And yes, we're all girls, "yet we don't exist!!1"

Oh, and I pronounce "pwn" as "pown."
I've heard people pronounce it "poon," which makes me go wtd.

I think it as if it sounded like "pawn" or the past tense as "pond", but say "owned".  Dude, my brains messed up.

I read it as pawn but in I might pronounce it as pwoon.  So... phew that was close.  I almost got pwned in the pond by a pound of pan-yielding pawns.

I just like to type right. I use emicons, but thats a different thing. The only time I like to use it is when I'm making a joke. Like that "omg girlz dont exist on teh intarweb!!1" I saw on that one topic... But, "pwn" started off as a typo of "own". People just like to pwn because it sounds better or something.

I actually pronounce it pwn, not pwn. You know, with a W instead of a Q or an X.
And that timeline I made was entirely fictional. Pwn was coined by Bob Blearfghlopfrt in 1998 and not Chris McVredremwenen in 1999. My mistake.
