It's pretty good so far.  Visuals are appropriately wonderful for the 3DS, finally playing as Phoenix again, it's just generally nice to have a new story to muck about with.

My one odd complaint is that the fully orchestrated soundtrack doesn't quite evoke the same atmosphere of the old chiptune "Cornered" themes.  Yeaaah, I miss those.

The Swift Sail is pretty much the best thing.

I'm also at least gonna make a stab at Nintendo Gallery completion, since alterations to Picto Box mechanics have made it feasible for people who like fun.

Hard to pick between EAD1 and Alpha Dream.  I love Super Mario World as an ideal for all games of its type, and I'd still say its superior has yet to be seen in the series; but Superstar Saga (and to a lesser extent, Dream Team, being the only other M&L installment I've played) provided one of the most unique experiences I've had in a game without sacrificing sheer fun.  If I could make a RPG, it would play a lot like M&L.

And then that's not even counting TTYD, itself pretty nigh to the level of Superstar Saga.

Got a free digital download of this with my recently acquired Wii U and it looks gorgeous so far.  Just wish I had more time to play, especially in light of things like the interface improvements noted above.
