Video Game Chat / Re: E3 Disscussion

Well, I just finished watching a live feed, and I must say, I'm mixed.

Pros:
- Wii motion plus
- Wii Sports Resort looked fun
- Wii Speak to solve voice chat woes
- Animal Crossing: City Folk to bring a fresh outlook on the series
- Good third party support (GTA for the DS? Wow)
- No Mario Party 9 (yet)

Cons:
- No Nintendo franchise titles for the hardcore player.
- No Nintendo franchise titles for the hardcore player.
- No Nintendo franchise titles for the hardcore player.

Seriously, there was nothing to satisfy the die-hard Nintendo freak within me. Kirby would've at least brought a smile to my face, but no, not even him. Hope something is announced later like Brawl was at E3 '06

Pretty good so far. The only thing I would recommend is that Yoshi's eyes should bulge out more.

Braid and Mirror's Edge have my anticipation palate fairly sated.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that game. It would be sweet if they ported it to the Wii.

P.S. Anybody want to lay bets on Mario Party 9?

*shiver*

Video Game Chat / E3 Disscussion
« on: July 13, 2008, 06:03:00 PM »
Twas the night before E3 and all through gamers heads,
no sadness could be found, nor feelings of dread

Fanboys unite and sit flat on their tushies
to hear the news that makes them feel all mushy

"What new games will I see?" we all sit and wonder
like some infectious disease we've all come under

There will be laughs and tears, blood and gore
coming from the all new Gears of War

It's that time again, can you believe it?
E3 is here again, take it or leave it.

I decided to create a topic for to discuss what you'd like to see at E3, what titles are revealed at E3 and what ever else you could think of.

E3 may have been reduced in size, but it's still when developers usually choose to make big announcements and it's exciting to see new additions to games in development. I'm hoping to hear about a new Zelda, Pikmin, Star Fox, F-Zero and Kid Icarus for Wii. I also have a small hope in my heart for a new Viewtiful Joe. That would be swell.

Sell out Risk: VERY HIGH

I find this disturbing.

Then again, Glorb could've bought one for all his friends...

Latest News / Re: Birdo and Captain Rainbow

From what I heard on IGN, this game will star multiple super-obscure Nintendo characters. But how's Birdo obscure? Most Mario Fans wish she was obscure...

Eh, I don't know about this one. Miyamoto said in an interview that he likes to make each of Nintendo's games feel fresh and different, but I really don't get that same "nintendo" vibe with this game. The intro is looks like your basic anime intro you could find in any other game- not bad, but not unique. Even Master of Disguise had a cool art style going for it. The actual in game graphics kinda remind those old PC games.

Still you can't judge a game by it's graphics, so I'll see what scores it's gets and rent the game before passing my final judgement. Actually looks fun.

It seems as though Grunty has fallen upon hard times since Banjo-Tooie. Considering that's the same publisher (Phoenix games) that gave us this, that boxart is probably their Magnum Opus.

Mario Chat / Re: What would the next big Mario game be like?
« on: July 06, 2008, 09:55:35 PM »
I was thinking that since Mario has reached the final frontier (space), the only step forward is to go full circle and try for a retro vibe. We could make the game a side scroller, give it some old enemies, set it back in the Mushroom Kingdom and other retro stuff. The problem is, NSMB already did that. That's a bummer...

Perhaps the series could try for a whole new art style. Something like Wind Waker. I once saw a fan-made video showcasing a game called "Super Mario Universe" set in a funky, cel-shaded world. Something like that would give the francise new life.

How would this inspire any kids to buy an NES? I'd be too busy changing my now-wet pants to really take them up on their challenge. Also, I don't remember any Nintendo Game that featured a mild-mannered, well-talored office guy for an enemy...

He did get one thing right, though: you're pretty much unable to beat any game with R.O.B.

I've actually heard good things about Ninja Gaiden DS, and I'm surprised more people haven't mentioned Tetris DS

Number six is true art. There isn't any other way to describe it.

But why is everyone wearing rather dapper suits and/or tophats?

I've read about this on another forum. One person said that any Black holes created by this thingamajig would be too small and would evaporate too quickly to do damage to our planet.

Thank God we have scientists devoting countless time and money to discovering completely abitrary information on things that may or may not even exist. Dark matter is so much more important than renewable energy and curing cancer.

Besides, if the Kirby series has taught us anything its that dark matter is incredibly dangerous and will give us all nightmares if they uncover it.
Only if it has a giant eyeball in it.

I don't think that a degree in physics can help cure cancer. Plus, is a lot of people working on the same thing really going to help find a cancer cure or a new renewable energy source any sooner?

Also, who knows what good could come out of this project? Perhaps we could find a renewable energy source. We don't know until we try.

Well, since we've reached 500, I suggest we repeat everything that's been said in this topic.

This is a topic where we either say pointless thing or put pictures of pointless stuff (example: unsharpened pencils). OK? OK.
