He was "the Dragon."  In the Japanese release of "Super Mario Bros."," he's called "Kuupaa Lung," meaning "snapping dragon."  His full name in Japan is "Bowsu Kuupaa no Wang," "King Bowser Koopa."  "Bowsu" may mean "Fiery," I'm not sure.  It's either a verb or an adjective.  "Kuupaa" and "Koopa" seem to be interchangable in Japanese "Mario" texts.

Since forum posts are just a quick means of communicating, a lot of people (including me) neglect to correct spelling and punctuation errors that they would correct in a more premanent or important document.  There are, however, some posts so messy that there is simply no excuse, not to name any names (*COUGHBLACKYOSHICOUGH*).

Actually, Charles L. Dodgson (better known by his pen name "Lewis Carroll") did not take druds while writing "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland," that is a stoner-age myth.  The Cateripillar's magic mushroom was lifted from Celtic mythology.  A lot of mythologies give fungi magical properties, actually.

Bowser is an intelligent reptile from another dimension (possibly Mushroom World, possibly another universe we haven't seen) who somewhat resembles a dragon, turtle, or dinosaur.

I have a "Super Mario Bros. 3" commercial on videotape.  It has a bunch of people in different color clothes yelling "Mario" and the camera pans away until all the colors form Mario's face.  Does anyone remember this commercial?  It never had any shots of the actual game, but it certainly had an impact on me in 1989!

The Yoshi in "Yoshi's Story" is a new hatchling, Yoshi Jr.  Still, I don't like the way he was depicted in "Yoshi's Island."  I think there should have just been our friend Yoshi, not a relay team of differently-colored Yoshis.  That game was way too childish and saccharine.
