Mario Chat / Re: New Mario Movie

There was a "Super Mario World" cartoon series.  Actually, I saw that before I ever played the game!

DON'T talk about Buzzy Beetle.  Those beetles are among my all-time favorite Koopas, especially in "M3" when they're spinning on the ceiling.  They developed the Koopa Troopas a lot since "M1" but not so much the Buzzies.

I like the "Mario 1" (that's what I call "Super Mario Bros.", by the way) is great, but not the way they altered it for "All Stars".  What was cool was the original "Mario" theme over black background as the letters materialized at the beginning of the "Mario" movie.  Then the movie started and it all went downhill from there.  I also like the Dark World theme, in all its forms, the jazzy version in "Mario 3" and "All Stars" and the mystical-type version in the caves in "M64".  Oh, and there's the creepy music in the jelly place in "Tree Zone" of "Mario Land 2".  When we were little, me and my cousins would make up lyrics for the "Mario" songs.  You sort of had to be there...

If you ask me, one of Nintendo's biggest mistakes was having different Kongs star in the "Donkey Kong Country" sequels (though I like the Kong team in DK64).  And Wario taking over for Mario in "Mario Land 3"? Come on!

How 'bout the Pipe Maze?  Like it was in "Mario Bros. 3" with the Venus Flytraps as hazards only in 3D.  Or something like "Shifting Sand Land" in "Mario 64".

Mario Chat / Re: If Smash Bros. had a sequel, who should be in it?
« on: June 04, 2000, 07:53:38 PM »
I think Samus should be replaced by a Metroid.  All of the other characters in "Super Smash Bros." are cartoonish and abstract, but Samus is too realistic and serious.  I think the Metroid would be a better player.  Another thing that would be cool is if Yoshi had a sort of tag-team thing where you can use some power or something to switch to different color Yoshis with different powers.

"Chibibo" is also the name for the little Goombas that rain down on you in "Mario 3" in the Japanese release.  "Chibibo" means "little Kuribo" in Japanese, and "Kuribo" is the Japanese name of the standard Goombas.  I didn't realise someone had already commented on the crummy Goombas in "Mario World" when I posted my complaints under "Goombas Unite".

Mario Chat / Re: Goombas of the world! UNITE!!!!!!

If you ask me, they might as well have not had Goombas in "Super Mario World".  Those excuses for Goombas didn't even squish if you stepped on them!  It took me the longest time to figure out that those things were supposed to be Goombas.  By the way, there WERE Goombas in "Super Mario Bros. 2".  Those things running on the ice are "really" Goombas but the name they had in "Doki Doki Panic" translated to "snowflake" or "flurry" and even though the "Flurries" were graphically altered to resemble Goombas, the people at Nintendo forgot to change the name given at the end.  It might be fixed in some versions, I'm not sure.

Tatanga the Mysterious Spaceman (who made a cameo appearance in "Super Mario Land 2") was based on an oriental God who, according to "Chariots of the Gods" author Erich von Däniken was really an alien astronaut who was sent to Earth to educate mankind.

I always liked Kooky von Koopa.  When I watched the Mario cartoon years ago, he reminded me of me.

Mario Chat / Re: What's with all the mushrooms?
« on: June 03, 2000, 07:35:29 PM »
I've been having some technical difficulties, and I'm not sure if my first response was fully submitted or simply deleted.  I can't say I know for sure why there are mushrooms in every Mario game (except "Yoshi's Island") but I have studied Japanese mythology, and mushrooms play a very prominent role.  In addition to providing access to the Otherworld (which is, in some respects, like the Mushrool World) mushrooms are associated with ghosts and mythical beasts such as Kitsuni, Tanuki, Tengu, and Obake.  I've noticed that many Koopas are based on the folklore of Japan.

How many bits are in the different Nintendo games?
I know that Nintendo is 8, Super Nintendo is 16, Nintendo 64 is 64, and Nintendo Star Cube is 128, but what are the others?

Game Help / Fast Bullet Bill World
« on: August 23, 2000, 03:10:12 PM »
The latest edition to the "something was this way before but now it's not like that, how come?" genre of posts: Missile Bills.  They're like Buller Bills, only they move much faster, and in "Super Mario Bros. 3" they gain the ability to change directions.  My cousin was playing the original "Super Mario Bros." and he showed my "Fast Bullet Bill World" where it's like the first Bullet Bill World only every launcher shoots Missile Bills.  Now, I was playing "Super Mario Bros. Deluxe: Original 1985" and I made it to 8-3 without warping but I never went through any world with any Missile Bills.  What gives?  Where is Fast Bullet Bill World?  What happened to it?
