There's nothing wrong with liking the Mario Party series, PaperLuigi. I happen to have all the GCN ones and Mario Party-e. Oh, and I'm still borrowing the three N64 ones from my boyfriend.

However, Advance was a huge pile of meh.

I have Mario Party 2 and 4. It's not bad, they're just making too many.

I do like Mario Golf and Mario Kart, so...

If you consider the RPG games to be spin-offs I'd say Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and Paper Mario are my favorites.  Otherwise I'd have to say Dr. Mario and WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$.

I like the Mario Kart series, and the Mario Party series. I have MP8 and 5 (which gives off weird vibes...). I like 8 better.

That might be because MP5 is the worst one on the Cube. At least in my opinion. I guess I should be thankful that I bought is used for $20. Heck, here's how I rank the GCN Mario Parties from best the worst...
MP6
MP7
MP4
MP5

Maybe I should spend the next few days playing the N64 ones and put them on the list as well.

Does the Smash Bros. series count? Well, it's either that or the Partys

Yeah, if Smash Bros. counts, then I'd pick SSBM over anything else. If not, Mario Kart all t3h way.

TMK files Smash games under "other." They certainly aren't Mario adventure games, but I wouldn't call them Mario spin-offs because they aren't just Mario games. A fighting game with just Mario characters, I would label a Mario spin-off.
But the looseness of the term isn't really mine to decide so I agree with Ultima Shadow. I just said Mario Kart before because of my definition of "spin-off."

I respect your opinion. I personally liked Mario Party 5, however. I had so much fun playing Volleyball and a 1v3 minigame called Mario Mechs. My favorite Mario spin-off is most likely the Mario Kart series. The Mario Party series is fun at times, but I don't go and play them an awful lot.

EDIT: Bird Person, AWESOME Signature!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Mario series is the best! It has every genre in video games but RTS'! It also has a plumber who does different roles, a princess, and a lot of odd creatures who don't seem to poop!

Mario Party is not bad as a game. But it's like having a rabbit with that series--all of a sudden there's another, and another, and yet another! I couldn't believe it when I found out they were going to put out Mario Party 8 without Wi-Fi. They need to take more time with them and make them worth buying.

When my friends are over they're much more interested in Super Smash Bros. and Wii Sports or Mario Kart, so we just don't play Mario Party 4 anymore (we had some good times with it before). Even though Brawl and Mario Kart Wii will probably take most of the Wi-Fi time between us forum members, every once in a while we'll end up playing Mario Party.

I know Mario Party DS is going to have Wi-Fi play, but the mini games are probably going to be screen-scratching demons... I'll wait patiently for Mario Party 9 or 10. Let's hope it's not a half-baked attempt to make some money.

Note: I've only ever played Parties 2, 3 and 4, and I only own 4.

Actually, I love Mario Mechs. Probably one of the best 1v3 minigames ever.

I guess my beef with MP5 is the capsule system, the large amount of button-mashers (there's even a minigame called Button Mashers for goodness sake!) and the music.

I don't really care for the Mario Party games, but the only one I've played and own is MP4.
Just curious, which party game is the most widely concidered as the best?

I know the Mario Party games take a lot of flak, but I actually kinda like 'em. I haven't played the original N64 trilogy, so I can't vouch for those three, but it seems like the GameCubes always had something better and worse about the next version, which gave you a reason to not throw out the old ones every year like Madden. MP5 was the worst? Hello, tank battles?!?

I completely forgot about Game & Watch Gallery. It comes just after Mario Kart for me. G&WG2 is awesome.
