General Chat / Re: The HOPEFUL thread: Be happy here!

Thanks! I feel lucky to have gotten this far with a book that I started on 8 years ago.

I'll probably post about it here when I get everything squared away. Anyway, in related news, I already have a fan, one of my friends has committed himself to finishing the book, and he seems very invested in the story. He's also helping me revise the book for grammatical errors and full-on missing words. I'm apparently not very good at catching mistakes like those, because my brain has been trained to correct all the mistakes in my book as I read it.

I blame the stupid "If Yuo Cna Raed Tihs Yuo Aer A Smrat Prseon" tests that keep popping up on the internet.

I got the "Proofing" copies of my book, "Time Toss," in the mail yesterday. I already found errors that I want/need to fix (I always do), but I was just too excited that to have actually had a physical copy of my book to care. I gave out a few copies to friends (who now have versions of the book that no one else will ever have, woo), and will be giving a copy to my old creative writing teacher, because she was awesome and think she'd get a kick out of it.

If anything happens to my hands, I'll hire a typist to dictate my work so that I never have to worry about not being able to write; on the subject of visual arts, that's a little more tricky...

TIL: In my book, there are several instances of symbolism and foreshadowing that I created on accident. Feel free not to tell anyone though, because if I'm ever interviewed/famous, I'm telling everyone that I intended every bit of symbolism in the book because I'm an awesome writer like that. It reminds me of the idea that most writers don't intend for people to read into their work, because the color of someone's shirt or a character's name don't always mean something deep. It's fun to let people over-analyze everything though!

I feel like this is the place to post this: I completed the Pokedex in X. GTS is a really good thing to use in the final stretch.

I remember when you came back the first time!

I don't typically post here without someone else prompting a response, though I remember when I used to trying really hard to come up with good topics to start on; that didn't happen a lot... or at all? But I mean, you've been gone for a while, so naturally you already understand why people would take breaks from it. I stopped being a frequent poster because I realized that if I said literally everything on my mind here, it would led to me driving people insane (I know, I used to do it), and I don't really care to get kicked out of the first memorable message board I ever joined. I can't really speak for everyone here, but "real life" kind of takes priority for me now, and I've lost the close relationships I've had with the people I like especially here. It's easier to be friends with people you can talk to everyday, which is basically where I'm at in my life to not be as active here anymore. I am in the leader boards for "most time spent online" here (I think? It's been a while since I checked), which at this point I'm leaning more toward that being sad than cool.

That is some impressive work there. I especially liked the Smells Like Teen Spirit cover. Offhand, I've been listening to video game music covers and weird versions because instrumentals tend to help me when I'm writing (something I do a lot).

Kyle Landry is cool.

I mean, it's funny to check up on every once in a while, but "good" might not be the right word for it...

My hair is actually pretty dark (the lighting has shown otherwise more than once...), but I have some lighter hair if I look closely. It's not as obvious as the picture makes it out to be... at least, not obvious to me.

I don't mind it! I'd rather go silver than bald!

Probably the most recent/decent picture of me. I'm wearing the last good Hawaiian shirt I have (all the others fell apart in high school/college, because of high-usage during those years)

Honestly, I'd never give this sort of thing a second thought, but it being presented here makes it pretty open to response. I think I'd have been okay having never read about it, though knowing how often this sort of thing is brought up here (which honestly, I find a little strange) I guess it was inevitable that I would actually pay attention to it at some point. In fact, my original response to the subject of these crazy ladies was a very sarcastic "Thanks for sharing." Honestly, I'm mad at myself for spending time reading those ridiculous arguments, where I never would've found them otherwise. I mean, I get that it harps on the point of this topic, but it's from that corner of the internet that most people ignore in the first place.

Also, they aren't very vocal outside of their little blogs from what I understand, so as long as they stay under their rocks, they don't have much of an adverse affect on people. I mean, PL has a point; I'm pretty sure you have to look specifically for this crap in order to find it; I certainly never would've wandered into it on accident.
