Best: Bowser

Worst: Too hard to decide.
The Mario series is the best! It has every genre in video games but RTS'! It also has a plumber who does different roles, a princess, and a lot of odd creatures who don't seem to poop!

Best: Wart. Who else has yet had the courage to try to take over everyone's dreams? (does Mario Party 5 count in this case?) Honorable mention to the Cackeltta/Fawful combo in Superstar Saga: Cackeltta for a cool plan, Fawful for just being Fawful.

Worst: Petey Pirahna. He is a giant baby that just pukes all over the place and he only got more annoying the more games he was in (though I did like his desgin in Brawl..) Horrible mention to Bowser Jr. When do we get to see the real Koopalings again?

Nominee: 2D game

Best: Fawful. He's just Fawful. And no, that was not a pun.

Worst: Petey Piranha. Seriously, he was a lame boss in Sunshine, and apparently everyone at Nintendo loved him because he;s been in nearly every game since.

This one should be obvious from me...BLECK! X3

Best: Count Bleck - A much more interesting and curious villain than many of the other one-shot villains, who's tragic past is his motivation for villainry...and scoring at the same time! :D

Worst: WAAAAART - Seriously, a giant Toad?...>>;;; { I love Mario 2, just so you know. }

Those who know me a bit can probably guess my answer beforehand...

Best: Count Bleck. I'll avoid mentioning the secret backstory, for those who haven't beaten Super Paper Mario, but it's the reason he's so unique and awesome as a villain. His mannerisms and personality are great too - "What!? spat Count Bleck in utter disbelief." XD

Worst: I'm tempted to go with Bowser, just because of his extreme overusage, but he's been developed as a character, and sometimes he's good for comic relief or actual awesome villainry. I'd have to go with...Wart. There's nothing that makes him stand out at all. An evil toad who shoots bubbles trying to take over a dream world...yeah, real creative and original. Of course, he was just ported from Doki Doki Panic...

Best: Bowser.  He's both menacing and funny.  It's very hard to do a comic relief villain without sacrificing most of the character's gravity.  Maybe it's possible with Bowser because he's very heavy.  Also, check the username; turtle-like characters FTW.

Worst: Ummm... Petey Piranha, because he disgusts me (Gooper Blooper is a close second-worst).

I vote Wart worse because Petey Piranha at least tries to get you back and shows some character traits, such as stupidity, when he yells very loud at the top of the windmill in Bianco Hills, and he just realizes that his huge body can break the roof of the windmill, even though he has been on it before Mario came. Wart doesn't show any character traits.

Remember, kids. Just because a character is "neglected" and "obscure" doesn't mean it's a good idea for them to come back.

Honestly, I believe what's happening is you're disappointed with the current state of characters, so you look at characters such as Wart, Stanley, the Koopalings, and Geno through rose-tinted glasses, thinking that if they made a come back, all would be well, and Shadow Brian would start liking Nintendo games again.

Wario's Woods was cool (and Toad's the star). Mario is Missing sucked because it wasn't fun, not because it didn't have Mario (just try saying the game would be enjoyable if you were Mario rescuing Luigi). I thought DKC3 did poorly because Super Mario 64 just came out or was coming out soon, and yeah, that definitely would have distracted from the game. I didn't like DKC3 as much as the previous games, just wasn't as memorable, but I think the game was still good. If nothing else, it still had amazing music. I played through Mario is Missing... it was the first game I ever beat... I know, that's sad.

I agree that Wario's Wood rocked and that Mario is Missing sucked, but regardless of how true what you were saying in the rest of your post is (I never really played DKC2 or 3, since I only owned the first), I think you have Donkey Kong Country 3 confused with Donkey Kong 3 (which pretty much did suck).

Now, when discussing Wario's Woods, is it assumed one is referring to the SNES or NES version? (one of the rare instances where Nintendo put a game on two different generations of consoles at roughly the same time, if I'm correct. Then there was that Wario Blast game with Bomberman on the GB, but that was something else entirely...) Because I've played only the NES version and... it's pretty fun, I guess. It's been a while though, so I'm not one to judge.

Wario's Woods should be remade for the DS, with Wario Ware characters replacing those from Wario's Woods. Also, all remakes should follow the same guidelines as the recent Kirby Superstar Ultra. That was an awesome remake.

DK3.. Are we talking Donkey Kong 3 (with Stanley) or Donkey Kong Country 3 (with.. baby Kong. What's his name)?

I've played both versions of Wario's Woods, and both are great, but I do like the SNES version more.

NES has the unique boss fights, but the SNES has the large variety of backgrounds and themes, the VS COM mode (I've beaten both it and its Super Hard mode), and much better music (in terms of the melodies, not quality) and sound.

I've always wondered whatever happened to the Wario's Woods bosses. I once had an idea for another game starring Toad that featured them, and it was an SMB2-esque platformer.
