I thought it was Po-kay-mon (I assumed the e-accent was said the same way as in Spanish), although I accept Pokeymon (I don't know of too many people who bother putting the accent over the e) and Pokeyman too.
But that's not what we're talking about, it's the announcers. Original announcer is my favorite, for reasons Bird and Sushie mentioned. And I never realized there was an audience in Melee. I remember the audience in the first game being amazing though. Yeah, the chanting's cool, but the cheers and gasps sound authentic (at least to me) and thus invigorating.
