Does anyone know how to kill those invisible bag-looking monsters in Super Mario Galaxy--or if it's even possible? They're running around on random planetoids--and all you see are their footsteps--but if you wait long enough without moving, they appear. Any movement, and they're gone again. Is it possible to kill them, or are they just there to annoy you?

Spin close to the footsteps and they will become visible and dazed. Then you can jump on them.
That was a joke.

Spin close to the footsteps and they will become visible and dazed. Then you can jump on them.

Either that or you get someone to use the second player option and have the second player freeze the guy in place and you jump or spin attack him. Nothing to good happens though when you kill him all he does is give you about 30 star bits maybe not even.
Time is repeating itself. Why you say? Look at the Wii and NES and you'll know why.

Oh, you might even be able to throw star bits at him yourself.
That was a joke.

Yeah, but only stuns him for, like, a millisecond, and then he disappears the minute you make a move.

I'm not sure if either of these will work , but if anyone else is available you might try having the 2P press "A" while pointing at him to hold him in place or "B" to throw star bits at him and stun him.  I've never killed one and am now wonder what they give you.  Probably just star bits and/or coins.

You just have to catch up to them and spin. This knocks them dizzy like a normal enemy and you then just run into it like a normal enemy. The only tricky part is that they are as fast as you so you have to get them by cutting a corner tighter or making them run into a one-way trap. It's just like MIPS!

They explode into 20 Star Bits.
