General Chat / Hey, Johnny Macho.
« on: April 01, 2019, 05:12:29 PM »
Hey, man, I doubt you still view this forum anymore, but I just wanted to publicly apologize to you for my incredulous and insensitive remarks about your having been shot; that I had the audacity to ask for proof, instead of offering commiserations, or perhaps better yet just kept my craw shut. You had gave no indication you were ever not worthy of the benefit of the doubt, nor that you had any sort of ulterior motive for telling such a thing dishonestly. Not to suggest it was ever my prerogative to interrogate you in the first place.

2008 was a long time ago, but I was legally an adult before then. It's been eating at me for a good while now, but I put it off so long I was sure you moved on from here long since then. There are no excuses for what I said, nor for the tardiness of my apologies.

Again, I don't know if you or anyone else you know personally will ever see this. If whoever reading this is the latter please relay this to him. If you're the former, dude, I am sorry and I hope you can forgive me.

Mario Chat / Obscure manga reference?
« on: October 07, 2014, 05:44:47 PM »
So I picked up a manga called Kingyo Used Books. It's pretty much a manga about manga, yeah. Anyways, there's an ancillary character obsessed with an old detective series called Billy Puck by Mitsuhiro Kawashima, to the extent that he dresses like the boy detective despite being too old. But it was the hat that caught my attention. I coincidentally picked up The Thousand Year Door on a whim, and I noticed Pennington wears the same cap:

It's not a deerstalker so it cannot be a Sherlock Holmes reference. And It doesn't evoke any other influential detective series that I'm familiar with.

There is unfortunately almost no English or Japanese sites dedicated to Billy Puck. Yahoo site is the only page I've found regarding Puck or his creator. But I'm not about to doubt that such a property has a strong cult following there.

Mario Chat / Bob Hoskins (1942-2014)

He passed away at the age of 71 due to the ravages of Parkinson's disease.

He'll likely be best remembered as Eddie Valiant from Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, but I'll personally remember him as Mario Mario, a role he despised but nevertheless handled with aplomb.

Rest in peace, plumber. :(

I saw a certain brother make the front page header in my local newspaper.

here is the full article.

'Fess up, was it a member here?

"He's rescued his dumb brother who knows how many times from kidnappings, where Mario tends to focus on the ladies instead so he can get some lovin.' And I guarantee Luigi's the one who pays the restaurant bill (after he ordered just a salad) when Mario eats half the menu and forgets his wallet."

Because that's just a little sad...

Mario Chat / Chuckola vs. Kero Kero Challenge
« on: May 02, 2007, 12:35:11 PM »
Okay, this works like the coke vs. Pepsi of old. First, you vote witch you think is the better soda. Then Choose A or B (its random, so be careful). then describe both (be a creative as you want)in comparison. then myself or the next poster may reveal which one you really chose.

Okay then, first we have the up and comer Chuckola cola. An import from bean bean, this cola boasts a distinct nose tickling sensation in your nose. brewed in honey syrup and a chuckola fruit, fermented with laughter.

Then we have the Kero Kero classic, back from the abysmal sales of NEW Kero kero. It claims to be the end-all cola that been faithful to it's consumers for years. Brewed in the immaculate Kero Kero sewers by frog scientist in a top secrete lab.
