Mario Chat / Re: Super Mario Galaxy 2
« on: September 26, 2010, 10:28:36 PM »
I sort of broke my addiction to the internet so I had no idea about a game until it was just about to come out, and I didn't realize that Super Mario Galaxy was the next big Mario game.

Hmm..

That reminds me, there was one phrase he said upon entering a level in SMS that I couldn't for the life of me comprehend. I know I heard one of his phrases was "arriva derci" but I don't think this was it. Anyone have any ideas?

The Chef: I have found your answer (and you were actually extremely close!).

Here's an excerpt taken from mariowiki.com

"In Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy, the 'Too Bad!' changes into a red Game Over sign. In translated versions of Super Mario Sunshine, it says 'arriverderci', Italian for 'goodbye'."

Mario says that word sometimes when he dies, and like you said you've heard, I've heard it too.

Make Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World look like this and I'd buy it. Maybe orchestrate all the tracks.

Video Game Chat / Duke Nukem Forever (Is No Longer Vaporware!)
« on: September 03, 2010, 06:22:56 PM »
So, DNF is coming in 2011 to 360/PS3/PC. I played one of the olders ones for PC or whatever. I'm not up to snuff on my Duke Nukem stuff, but I figured you guys would enjoy this seeing as this game has been vaporware/abandonware/whatever-you-wanna-call-it-ware for like 13 years now.

This really only affects me in with any future Grand Theft Auto games, if I'm honest. I don't play CoD anymore, and I don't buy any GH games anymore.

Remember when my IP address was banned from Fungi Forums because it also belonged to a spambot? Well, it's happened again: According to 4chan, I used the site to request child pornography on April 22, 2007, and have been permanently banned from all boards since then. I wasn't even using 4chan in 2007, and I was only made aware of the ban today. How might I go about manually changing my IP address to one not shared with a pedophile? Also, could I somehow anchor the new one so something like this doesn't happen again?

Question is, why would you even wanna bother with 4chan

No, that's probably a bad thing, bobman, because Activision won't want to stop at charging for Call of Duty only, I imagine. They'll want to try and push this under all generically popular products they publish (CoD, Guitar Hero, Band Hero, DJ Hero, etc.) and, since Bungie is teaming up with Activision now, all of you Halo fans can say bye-bye to any future creations from the developer after the Halo series is put to rest because I can guarantee you that Activision will definitely want a stake in all the people who will be playing Bungie's future games online.

This is ridiculous, man. Pay $55 for a friggin' masterpiece (Galaxy 2) and that's the deal. You get all the features from the start. If all this goes through, expect to be paying the new LIVE prices happening in November, then fork out additional money for the entire online lifespan of a game via "monthly subscriptions, tournament entry fees, microtransaction fees, or a combination of all three" [source in second link] just to keep it up.

Oh, and I doubt it stops there. Expect Activision, on top of all the [darn] fees you'd have to pay, to have the balls to still charge ridiculous amounts for DLC such as map packs, weapons sets, in-game clothing/armor/etc. sets, songs/albums (for "_____ Hero" games), etc.

Xbox Live Gets a Price Hike

"The annual fee will go up by $10 in the United States, with one and three month subscriptions also going up in price. Starting November 1, a one month subscription in the US will cost $9.99 and a three month subscription will carry a price tag of $24.99."

Analyst - Activision Must Begin Multiplayer Fees

"We think that it is incumbent upon Activision, with the most popular multiplayer game, to take the first step to address monetization of multiplayer," said Pachter.

"...we expect to see the company take some action by year-end, when Call of Duty Black Ops launches."

what is this i dont even.

How much do you wanna bet Activision doesn't do something like that when Black Ops releases, and how much do you want to bet other publishers don't try and copy the same plan off Activision?

Basically, instead of paying $65 game + $7.99/$19.99/$49.99 it'll be: $65 game + $9.99/$24.99/$59.99 + whatever the hell Activision wants to charge for their monthly subscription to their games if something like that goes through... and if the whole $15 dollar glitchy map pack for Modern Warfare 2 fiasco is any indicator (and the fact that Activision is continually *****ing and moaning about how they're not tapping into some income stream produced by someone else regardless of the fact that they're making lots of money), then basically, online multiplayer for the Xbox will probably take a hideous turn.

It is all overrated.

Yeah, the best if you decide to spam everyone with wheelies constantly.

I can't stand being in a kart and then having the rest of the grid being literally Funky Kong/Mii/Rosalina + bike. Everyone spams the wheelie to all hell and it's just completely unbalanced. If you're in a kart, unless the other guys suck, bikes will ALWAYS come out first. Only by some miracle can a kart place high in the grid.

The grid will always be a handful of Miis on bikes, and they'll wheelie at the beginning and then that's it, the race is over from that point on.

Now, you could say, "hurr trenman u just suck at mehrio cart then. u must suck at bikes if u always get kart."

Well, no, actually. I've driven the karts and I've ridden the bikes. I have a preferred setup and I tend to stick to it which happens to be Mario + Wild Wing. I shouldn't be forced to run a setup I don't like just so I simply be part of the race in the first place in a sea of "YAAAAAAAAY", "YEEEEEEAHHHH", and "WHOA WHOA WHAOHAAOWAHA" instead of always being a mile behind a gang of bikes.

Any suggestions for a vehicle/character combo, then?  I've tried Manual Drift with the Mach Bike and other high-Drift karts/bikes, but I can't control the drift at all.  I'm thinking my best bet would be something with stats similar to that of R.O.B.'s or Luigi's karts in Mario Kart DS (~8 Speed, 5 Accel, 3 Drift), but I don't think there is such a kart.

I use Mario in the Wild Wing. Has a loooooong mini-turbo.

Speaking of the Wild Wing, it strongly resembles a Mark IV (latest generation) Toyota Supra.

(Where it's most similar)
