Mario Chat / Re: Make the connection
« on: August 10, 2005, 04:32:08 PM »
I relate mostly to Mario, for sure.  As an older brother myself, I would always be player one... so I ended up relating to the guy in red.  My little bro definitely relates more to Luigi.

Going with the main line of Mario games, pretty much all the characters are easy to relate to.  None of them really have any obtrusive qualities that might turn someone away.

I think MegaByte noticed symptons of fetal alcohol syndrome, and I agree.

Yeah, only select GameStop's deal with merchandise that old.  It's too bad.

Also try flea markets.

If Mario's name were Bob, he might be an accountant instead of a plumber.  You know, 'cause Bob's from accounting...

Video Game Chat / Re: Let the Revolution be Televised in HD!

Wow, Nintendo UK isn't afraid to be honest!  I like that; my typical reply from NoA goes a little like this...

O Dearest, most-valued customer of ours,

We at Nintendo truly and deeply appreciate your concern about HDTV support for our upcoming console, code-named the Revolution.  We have forwarded your esteemed and, indeed, correct opinion to Nintendo producer, Shigeru Miyamoto; NoA VP of sales, Reggie Fils-Aime; corporate VP, Perrin Kapplan; Nintendo president, Satoru Iwata; and Nintendo Emperor, Hiroshi Yamauchi.  Thank you for e-mailing Nintendo.

Sincerely,

Hank S.

P.S.  In light of your supreme opinion, I have bequeathed upon you my daughter's hand in marriage.  Please accept her humble servitude in all facets of your godly life.  Thank you for e-mailing Nintendo.

Does anyone like the song "Bike"?

> I personally don't believe in repeating CDs in synching.

Yeah, I thought about the ramifications; it doesn't seem likely, but I did hear the sound of a heartbeat synchs with the closing scene--when Dorothy hugs the tin man, putting the side of her face to his heart.

You've seriously never heard about the Wizard of Oz trick?  Basically, you take Dark Side of the Moon and start it up alongside the movie.  Set the album to repeat, turn the TV's volume off, and just watch:  The music goes along with what happens in the movie.

Read more here.  I've never done it myself, so I was hoping maybe you did it.  I've only talked to one person who's done it.

Site Discussion / Re: FF to be on Big Boards

I much rather like it as a medium-sized board.  Big boards aren't fun; everyone's talking, and nobody listens.

My favorite song of their's is "Time".  You seem like a big fan; have you ever done the Wizard of Oz trick?

Has Mario been a zoo keeper yet?  Or a farmer?

Video Game Chat / Re: Two-Way Viewing-Angle LCDs?
« on: July 16, 2005, 06:16:25 PM »
Even so, that can (and should) be done in software.  Think about it:  There's nothing stopping the same functionality from being used in a GBA game... sans tilting.

From my understanding, two-way LCDs are more of a novelty.  It's a cool concept but doesn't strike me as practical.

Video Game Chat / Re: SNES Game genie vs Pro replay cheat cartridges
« on: July 16, 2005, 06:04:33 PM »
Wow, I was wondering the exact same thing very recently.  Here's what I've been told:  Any code you can produce for a Game Genie can be duplicated on a PAR, but not vice versa.  In other words, more codes are possible with a PAR.  There are compatibility problems with some Game Genies and some SNES models (the mini and model 2); the PAR has no comptability problems.  The Game Genie does not work as a convenient region bypass, but the PAR does.

Basically, PAR is better in every way possible except for availability.  Also, there are three versions of the PAR.  The third can hold 100 codes and comes with many built in.

Can you smash all the crates in 20 seconds?  How about 15?  Can you free the trapped Piantas of Pianta village in 1:30?

Here's something fun:  If you do the blooper-racing shine of Ricco Harbor, don't hop on a blooper.  Instead, get on the roof and enjoy the barren expanse.
