Fan Creations / What's the Premise of Super Smash Bros. Again?
« on: December 23, 2007, 05:51:06 AM »
Ah yeah.

Click for full size! Do it!
And sketch.

I think Lucas' popcorn is emitting caffeine rays. Everyone over on the right side is very excited while the left side is rather calm.

A funny thing happened when I was scanning the drawing. An eraser shaving was either on the scanner already or stuck to the drawing. Well... look:

Looking good, Popo. I just Photoshopped it out of the sketch.

Can't draw Bowser so well. But he had to be in there. Can't draw Snake so well either. But he's obviously necessary. Neither of the two people I showed the sketch before noticed Snake's hand was backwards.

...is a sharp man in a dimly-lit restaurant about to dine upon your self-control. Guess the book for which I had to do this English assignment for 300 points!

Picky is one of those super-cool, but overlooked characters... it just seems like he and Ness would be great friends. The idea here is that after Giygas is defeated and Pokey has fled to the future, Mr. and Mrs. Minch are paid back by Ness's dad or they make up or something, and become cool enough to let Picky have the room he once shared with his now-gone brother all to himself. So he now plays the GameCube (where it came from, don't ask me. Maybe none of them changed in appearance over six years) with Ness and friends. I want his carpet.

A lot of cameos in this one (most in-game). I've always liked the idea of Nintendo characters playing Nintendo or having Nintendo-related merchandise.

Oh, and the floor is the same as from Chef, but with some blue added and a different effect. Glad I saved it.

You may already know, I'm not so supportive of a plot for why everyone in Nintendo has come together for Super Smash Bros. It clicked the other day--they're all great friends, and there's nothing better to do than pummel each other. Except, they're all heroes and villains with amazing endurance, so they never actually get injured or die.

So here's what goes on afterward. They have burgers and a boom box that plays The Runaway Five or WTMK or something (perhaps the Pokémon Lullaby would explain why Pikachu and Pichu nodded off), too, but that's off-paper. I pity the Toad that has to drag that couch all the way back to the castle. Looks like it's gonna rain...

I guess Fox, Marth and Shiek don't get much time off. Tournaments, you know. (Actually they just wouldn't come out so well if I tried to draw them.)

I may color it with Photoshop later.

Edit: Colored it. Click for full size. Really, do so. It's much smoother.
Edit 2: Screw scaling. It's only half the sketch's size anyway.

Inspired by poor, sick Rao. Take some pills, Rao.

Here's a template for people wishing health to their gross friends.
And that good ol' original sketch. You notice I missed the little reflecty thing on Mario's head.

General Chat / Weird Things You Have Done
« on: November 10, 2007, 05:13:39 AM »
The topic title is self-explanatory. Name and explain things you have done that are just plain strange. I'll give two examples.

So the other day, a friend (Captain Jim)'s DS fell out of his pocket while he was putting his things into his P.E. locker (we actually share one 'cause I lost my lock). So, I reached over and grabbed it... and cleaned the screens vigorously. He's the kind of person who will occasionally touch that screen with the greasiness that is the human hand, with some form of excuse.

Weirder than that, I bought some miniature marshmallows from the grocery store on Wednesday. The other night I was eating some and decided, I should roast them. So, I got a needle and one of the lighters for the fireplace, and I did. Ah the memories. I didn't know when to stop when I was little and my marshmallows would be completely burnt.

Video Game Chat / Nintendo Durability Stories
« on: November 04, 2007, 09:15:05 PM »
Do you have a story about a Nintendo product surviving a traumatic experience? Tell us!
Just now, I found Super Mario 64 DS and Planet Puzzle League in this small plastic/rubber game case I have (it only holds two). It is definitely NOT watertight. My game cards were soaking wet. I dried them enough to not damage my DS, and I found they still work, saves still present and all. I hope the labels don't take it too hard though...
I still wouldn't intentionally put my games through the wash. I need to be less absent-minded.

General Chat / Sleep irregularities
« on: October 30, 2007, 01:38:34 AM »
The weekend, liberation from daylight savings time, etc... there are times you are allowed more time in the morning to do whatever before having to become active. How do you take advantage of this luxury? (I know some of us don't go to bed and wake at any particular times, so there's option 4)

I'm an option one kind of guy myself. I get roughly six hours of sleep every night and I'm used to it. If nothing external wakes me up, I'll get up at noon regardless of when I went to bed, so in theory I would stay up until six in the morning on weekends... but I'm tired by one or two.

General Chat / T-shirts
« on: October 29, 2007, 02:05:46 AM »
Don't you just hate t-shirts with pointlessly insulting phrases on them? Or even worse, the ones that have long long paragraphs that repeatedly state that because you are reading the shirt, you are an idiot? Most of my shirts are blank, though I have that "You Know You Are In The Mushroom Kingdom When..." shirt which actually annoys me because everyone has to stop me from moving and read it.
I have iron-on paper, so maybe I'll make one that says "STAND BACK! I know nuclear chemistry!!" or something like that.
So, agree with my loathing of arrogant shirts or present ideas for an enjoyable one, whatever.

Mario Chat / Mario Kart Wii discussion
« on: October 25, 2007, 05:25:04 PM »
I can't believe there wasn't a topic for this already.
So.. what modes or playable characters are you hoping to see? What's up with those motorcycles?

I'm hoping it'll be everything MK:DS was and more. More flexible WFC play (that will actually work for me and my connection) would be great. Well I'm basically hoping it will be the Brawl for Mario Kart--everything we've seen before improved, and good new elements. I may be alone in kind of liking the two-man kart Double Dash idea, and thinking it'd be an okay to have, just because, mode... you know?

Fan Creations / Tuxedos in Brawl: It's Another Wallpaper 9_9
« on: October 16, 2007, 09:57:09 PM »
I've said it a few times. Every character needs to have a tuxedo as an alternate costume in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I like the idea so much, I decided to draw it. And do the usual to the drawing.

Full size here.

Sketch here.

Don't question Ness' presence. He looks better in a tux than Lucas would anyway.

Video Game Chat / Characters' Special Entrances Return in Brawl
« on: October 14, 2007, 01:28:40 AM »
Remember in Super Smash Bros. when Mario would emerge from a pipe to enter the battle? When Pikachu burst out of a Pokéball? When Ness had a Teleport α mishap? It took me a while to realize it, but it really sucked that such a great effect was not in Melee. Fear not! They're back in Brawl. That's not all--lots of things in Brawl are much like in the original Smash, notable the Brawl Results screen. There's other stuff to see in the video linked below, too, like Sonic in action and how Final Smashes are executed (it's not as easy as grabbing the ball!), and Sonic's Final Smash.. Also, the beam sword is blue.

Source. Sorry about the ad. It happens.

Beat ya, Super-Jesse. Except I can't post in Game Blog. :P

Fan Creations / What is up?
« on: September 26, 2007, 09:38:01 PM »
Is it me, or has the amount of fan creations fallen since the birth of this board? It's clear that fan fiction is still alive (which is fine, if you like fan fiction), but where's all the good stuff like this, this, or this? Is it that nobody has anything? No, I think I know what it is: the concept of posting a whole thread for one JPEG too crazy-sounding to some, while a story is considerably longer. I've been making a lot more stuff in Photoshop as of late, maybe because I'm getting better at it or because I don't feel like it'll be ignored anymore (nothing is worse than working forever on something to have it the last post on the page in TMK Art Museum and be seen by one person). This whole board is TMK Art Museum now. And admit it-- everyone likes praise. You might even get more images posted in the threads you make, from similarity, like this. Even if you don't think one item is enough to constitute its own thread, you could make a gallery or something. Post things! Impress each other! If you get negative feedback or suggestions, don't cry--improve!
