No-snaking? Where is the line drawn? Can I "snake" on corners? No using the R-button at all?

Hey guys, this is actually a good idea besides the no-snaking part. We should make our own "no rules" tournament, 8 player, 1v1 matches, single loss elimination. Winner gets a CT or something. Should I make a thread for that?

I can only snake on corners.  I used to play Wi-fi races on MKDS, but once I got pitted against at least one snaker each time I connected, I stopped.  I'd rather loose fair and square.  I can't snake constantly.  I'll admit snaking's a skill, but it's not fair when there's at least one person in the race that hasn't mastered it.

It is always OK to use the R button around corners. There is a difference between snaking and using your R button to get a boost. Desides, doesn't everyone here want a far game? Not all people can snake.

Yeah! For other games, as well. I dunno what other games (maybe Metroid Prime Hunters or Tetris DS) but I like that idea. Heck, Guitar Hero even. Take pictures or post screenshots for proof of score. I love competitive gaming.

Of course, if it were to be a Guitar Hero tournament, there should be a rule, tournament initiator is exempt from competing :P

I dunno, I think a Guitar Hero tournament sounds pretty lame.  Not only would there be no need for any sort of tournament mechanics (as it'd just be a "everybody post your scores, see who's highest"), there'd be absolutely no interaction between players.
I've always believed that, to have a proper multiplayer experience (especially in a tournament setting), the players would have to be directly against each other in such a way that one's actions affect the other player's situation.  If you're racing, it'd better be on the same track at the same time, and there'd better be ways to make it "interesting" for the other guy.

Otherwise... you're just comparing numbers.

Pokemon Diamond/Pearl
With what max level?

Fifth: I kind of thought about that. It would be less like a tourney and more like a "try to beat my score!" thing. So it's not the greatest option for a tournament. Guitar Hero sure is fun when playing in Pro Face Off mode, though.

Games I'd like to see tournaments for:
Mario Kart DS
Tetris DS
Warcraft III
Guitar Hero III (you know, when it gets released. It supposedly has online play)

Obviously not if you don't let us snake like the pr0s we are. This is a Mario forum where people are good at Mario games. You might try gameFAQs if you want some non-snakers. >:)
