General Chat / Re: The ANGST thread: Complain here!
« on: August 07, 2008, 02:54:32 PM »
I have angst because one day, I saw Robot Boy, and I wish I hadn't.  The show is an entire trainwreck!  The animation is very lazy and disgusting, none of the characters are likeable or memorable, and the action puts people to sleep.

Mario Pinball Land:  Way too frustrating to get anything done in that game.

Sonic and the Secret Rings:  I dislike the controls and the linearity of the game.  I also detest ranking systems, like you get a gold or silver depending on the score or whatever.

Yoshi Topsy Turvy:  The controls feel broken and the screen covers too little, so you never know if you're going to wander into a spiked pit or not.  It also has that awful ranking system.

Mario Party 5:  The worst Mario Party.  Its luck factor is dangerously high, and the mini-games are some of the worst in the series.  And the boards are really bland too.

Mario Chat / Re: Mario Sports Games

I think Mario sports games are okay, but only in moderation.  Nintendo should focus more on main Mario games such as Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Galaxy.  My favorite sport for Mario are tennis and golf.  I didn't like strikers or hoops very much and I hated the baseball one.

Yes, it was called the Deep Bloober Sea.  They Mispelled Blooper.

Mario Chat / Re: mario party 9 and 10, what they should do...
« on: August 02, 2008, 09:06:59 PM »
I agree with Penguinwizard, but I could do without those button mashing mini-games.

There should be more than 6 boards per Party, they should have retro boards along with some new boards.  They should also have a board editor.  Another thing that must come back are the costumes from Mario Party 2, they were one of the many things that made MP2 so memorable. I also hate the items in recent Mario Parties, they used too be unique and helpful without being too powerful, now, they are way too common, overpowered, and just not as cool.  I think the mini-game island should return also, along with betting duels instead of the wheel duels.

SMRPG does have more secrets than Paper Mario, but I found SMRPG to be just as easy if not easier than Paper Mario.  Paper Mario's bosses felt more epic and had way more personality than SMRPG's bosses.  Yoshi's story was a decent game, the only thing that I though was bad about it was the main quest was too short and easy.  Yoshi's Story was more of a high score game than Yoshi's Island.

1. Bikes, because of the wheelies and its a nice change.

2.  Its downright stupid!  It makes me want to destroy all blue shells that much more.

3. A tie between MK64, MKDS, or MKDD.

4. Heavy.

5. The Waluigi's Pinball course from MKDS and Cheese Land from MKSC.

6. Rainbow Road.

7. Wii Wheel

8. Coconut Mall, Toads Factory,  and Maple Treeway

9. DK's Jungle Parkway

10. Moo Moo Meadows, SNES Mario Circuit 3

Mushroom Men: Spore Wars looks like a fun, Legend of Zelda-esque game.  I think I will rent it when it comes out.

I like the battle system better in Paper Mario because it was way more consistent.  You didn't randomly miss and the numbers weren't unreasonably big, so you could calculate how much damage you did to your enemy and how much they would do to you.  I also like how there is more strategy to Paper Mario's system like flipping over koopas or causing an earthquake to damage multiple enemies.

Mario Chat / Re: What would the next big Mario game be like?
« on: July 31, 2008, 10:04:06 AM »
Spin Offs - Mario Tennis would work well on the wii, but Mario needs less spin offs.
RPGs - There Should be a Mario and Luigi 3 coming out soon enough, but I hope it would be more like the first one.
Platformers - Mario needs more of these; a NSMB2 thats like Super Mario World.
3D Main Series - A remake of Super Mario Sunshine, but with lots of extra levels and overall new content.
Misc. - A Luigi's Mansion 2 would work quite well on the wii.

Mario Chat / Re: Why is wall jumping/kicking so satisfying?
« on: July 30, 2008, 10:33:01 PM »
Does anyone actually know? All I know is that if they made a whole entire game with wall jumping, I would buy it. It's way under-used it almost all Mario games.
Maybe you enjoy seeing fat plumbers bounce off walls?

SMRPG is a good game, but it's way overrated.  The fans keep saying that its so superior to the Paper Mario series without any good reasons. "it has Geno" or "it was developed by Square" are not very good reasons.

Beating Yoshi's Island DS is possible, with a gameshark!  I've played and beaten Super Mario Bros 2. and I still think getting 100% on YIDS is much harder.
