Mario Chat / Opportunity for Mario fanatics: Hor-riff-ic Idea
« on: September 11, 2009, 10:25:10 AM »
Hey everyone!  What's new folks?  I hope it doesn't get annoying that I keep popping back here sporadically like those awful magikoopas from SMW. (Those were worse than lakitus!)  If you don't know who I am... then be thankful because I was weirder than I am now. XD Anyway... I haven't been playing video games for a long time in order to work on my future plans.  The last video games I played were the classic Zelda games on the Collector's Edition and finished all of the games except Zelda II.  I had never played these games before and I thought that LoZ, Ocarina, and Majora's Mask were incredible and fun to the max. (I even liked Zelda II but it's really tough!)

Okay, I should get to my point now.  I had an idea I wanted to share and just couldn't keep it to myself.  I was going to send it in a message to the mailbag but when I noticed the lengthy time gap between each one I thought "I don't have the patience to wait that long!"  Hopefully this hasn't already been mentioned and hopefully I don't sound like I'm advertising because that's never my goal.

I'll try to get to the point quickly so I don't ramble too much.  Not long ago I discovered a website called Rifftrax where the creators of Mystery Science Theater 3000 (a show I loved) are making new hilarious movie commentaries that mercilessly poke fun at everything.  Not only can you download these but you can also make your own and sell them to other people! (Maybe you see where I'm taking this.)  I thought that since the TMK team knows so much about the Mario universe, and they're also incredibly witty, it would only be right for them to create an iriff for the Super Mario Bros movie.  Yes, it would be torture to have to watch that again but it would so worth it for the rest of us.  It could turn out great and more people would buy it since you're so well-known and loved.  What do you think?  I think it would be a sin not to!  Deezer and Sapphira should do it with 2 or 3 other ones.  Here's some things you could say.  "This music from the game is like a deep breath before diving into a murky swamp." "I can just hear all of the Mario fans around the world yelling at the same time 'Koopa isn't a human!  He's a turtle!  Dragon... thing." Yoshi: "Well I sure got a great part in the movie!" (stabbed) "Princess Daisy?  Oh no, we're looking for the wrong princess!"

Oh yeah... and let us always remember the sacrifices of our soldiers, those who risked their lives on 9/11, and the rich blessing of freedom.  God has blessed America.

Site Discussion / The 12 Days of Deezer
« on: November 27, 2006, 08:07:17 PM »
Deezer the Snowman... a proud tribute to our grand leader in an unforgettable Christmas parody tune by the funny and brilliant mastermind, Lizard Dude.  This December I think we should have another holiday song, and now you can contribute to it! *desperately prays that this isn't a really stupid idea*

The song is "The Twelve Days of Christmas" and there's three things that people can do here (but no one has to do all of them).  First, people can make up verses to the song that are related to Mario or TMK. (I have an idea for the first day)  Other Christmas parodies are welcome too.

Second, those with microphones could record themselves singing a few of their favorite parts (days) and then someone can combine together at the end into one big, weird song!  If we don't have 12 people to sing the 12 verses, we could split them up evenly with 6 people singing 2 verses, 3 doing 4, etc.  We don't have to go through the whole song, but we can just cover the last verse and go over the twelve days.

Here's an example:

On the first day of Christmas, the Deezer gave to me... a cartridge of Mario 3 (OR) a butt-kickin' Nintendo Wii (Yoshisaurus Rex)
Second day... two turtle shells (YR)
Third day...
Fourth day...
Fifth day...
Sixth day...
Seventh day...
Eighth day...
Ninth day...
Tenth day...
Eleventh day...
Twelth day...

If no one wants to give it a shot, then I guess we'll just have to force LD do the whole thing. :)  Have fun and merry Christmas!
(Wow, I never have normal ideas!)

Video Game Chat / Who wants to join my idea to win a Wii / good $?
« on: November 24, 2006, 12:41:05 PM »
(Probably no one! XD) I know this is probably not the best idea, and it's probably too late to try, and the odds are just plain terrible... but I want to give this hair-brained scheme a shot anyway. If we work together, someone could win a new Wii to either keep or sell on Ebay for $250 or more. Wow, I could go for that. Here's my plan:

Gamefly is having a contest where they give away one Nintendo Wii each day from now until the end of November (see why I probably started this too late? :( ). It's very simple to play and doesn't cost any money. People go the site, enter their name, e-mail, home address, and age, and then submit the information to attempt to win. Only 1 person each day will win and you only have one try each day. The way it works is that the first person to enter their information during or after the randomly selected time will be the winner of that day.

Now maybe you have an idea where I'm taking this. I think that if we all work together on this we just might have a less-than-horrible chance to actually win. All we have to do is plan on what time span we'll enter the information each day to increase our odds (i.e. from 12:00 - 12:30 pm) and the more people who join, the greater the chance.

I usually do this each day around 9 am, and you could select any time before or after that which works best for you, and each following person to join can choose a time that hasn't been chosen yet. I'm sorry that I didn't think of this sooner but maybe it's not too late. I think this would be a fun idea.

You probably know that the Wii is very high in demand and low in supply. That's why if you don't want it you could sell it on Ebay or something for much over it's price of $250! I wanted to do that myself to earn money for college, and you could do something like that too.

The website is listed below and so is the list of people and their selected times. If no one wants to try it, that's fine. I wish you all a belated happy Thanksgiving and good luck whatever you're doing!

Video Game Chat / What game is this song from? (Now I know!)
« on: October 14, 2006, 12:23:16 PM »
Can anyone help me out with a problem that’s driving me crazy?  I’m trying to find a sweet techno video game remix that I like but I don’t even know which game it’s from and what part of the game!  I’m sorry that I even started a topic over this but I wanted to try and find this without searching the internet forever (or joining OCR and then starting a new topic there).  Here are the notes to the beginning of the song, with the arrows (v,^) indicating the direction of the scale:

E--Av--F#^--G^--Ev--F#^--Ev--Dv--Av--B^--C^--D^--E^--Dv--Cv--Bv--Av

And here’s another part of the song:

E--D--C--E--D--A--A--B--C--B--A--B--Gv--A

Thank you, guys for the help!  Later, if you want, feel free to turn this into some game of “Guess That VG Song!” or something.  Maybe not. :)

Fan Creations / TMK's Art Museum: Show us your stuff!
« on: August 31, 2006, 07:29:27 PM »
Inspiration has spoken to me yet again... but what will come of it now?  Just how unique shall this topic be of present?  Who shall approve of it and who shall reject?  I am torn between brightest joy and bleakest dread from the possibilities that may arise forth of my keystrokes.  Have I erred on my part that I shall regret for the better of my dear life?  Who cares?

Oh yeah... this is about art, not poetry.  Have you ever made a great work of art?  It can be anything from clay, pottery, sculptures, paintings, and drawings to quilts, creative music, lego structures and anything else that society will somehow accept.  Show us pictures of what you made and tell us all about it, or just tell us if you can't get pictures.  It doesn't even have to be good, it can just be rediculous (like the leaning tower of cheese-a!)  I'm excited to see what you have to show.  "I'm excited!  Are you excited?!  I'm excited!"

There's a plumber on my cake!  http://themushroomkingdom.net/board/index.php?topic=7732.msg428303#msg428303

Btw, what can count as real art will be up for debate.  Leave me it out of it. XD

General Chat / What are you learning about in life?
« on: June 10, 2006, 03:26:25 PM »
Hey there again!  I didn't think that I would get a new topic idea so soon, but when I feel like I get inspiration to create or do something, I can't rest until I get it done!

This topic is about the important things that you learn in life and what you want other people to know too. What are you learning from in books, movies, experiences, etc that we need to learn?  You can talk about things like education too, but I prefer to stick with lessons in life.  I also suggest that you let people know what you will talk about before you begin so they don't have to read the whole thing to find out.  Like, make a heading of what you are going to talk about such as "Truth and Consequences" (I underlined this paragraph and another so people would know it's the most imporant ones).  We can consider what kind of boundaries to have for this later.

Maybe you think that you already know everything there is too know--like I use to think-- but now I'm really beginning to see how little I know and how much I can still learn.  And even if there are things you already know, sometimes we have to hear them a few times to really remember them.  That's the way I am at least.

One thing to mention, I want to say that I didn't copy The Fungi Gazette with this idea so you don't have to arrest me and throw me in the TMK Dungeon of Bread XD.  Second, I bet that some people may feel like I'm just making this topic as another way to talk about my beliefs and religion, but that's not the case at all.  I might talk about stuff like that later, but I'll try to have some restraint so I don't scare people away.  Now I'll share what I have learned (in a way)

Women Can Be Understood!

Recently I read a magnificant, mind-blowing book called "For Men Only: A Straightforward Guide to The Inner Lives of Women".  This really opened up my mind to the ways that most women may think and what they really want in life.  Do you think that it's impossible to understand women?  Think again.  Seriously, I think that all men should read this book before they get in a relationship with a girl because this stuff could save your behind!  While I read it I began to realize why so many couples argue about things you would think of as simply dumb and not worth fighting about.  It's because men and women have different needs and see things in different ways!  As I read through every chapter of the short book I literally gasped out loud and refused to believe my mind.  It all made perfect sense and sounded so right.  Seven little facts that can make a great difference.

I wish that I had the book with me to give a quick overview, but I'm not at home right now, but maybe some other time.  I hope that this information can prepare me to become a more understanding friend to girls and a better husband to my wife (if I do get married).  Excuse me for raving and advertising there.  Have fun and let your minds grow by sharing and listening. (I sure hope this idea hasn't been done before ^_^:)

Fan Creations / Publishing Perplexion: Need help!
« on: May 12, 2006, 04:20:18 PM »
"Oh man... I'm going to die for this.  I just know it.  What am I thinking?  They might kill me!  I don't know if this is a good idea." The smart, handsome, and frequently-known-to-lie Yoshisaurus Rex stared at the blank message box on TMK and didn't know what to do.  He desperately needed an answer to this perplexing question but felt worried that this may not be the right place to ask it.  "Will people hate me for asking this here?  Will they repeatedly kick my b*tt and throw me in the Deezer dungeon to feed me bread?  Do I dare to do this daring deed of dukar and despair?  When all of life has given me strife and thrown sand in my brown hair?"

YR gulped and decided that he should take a chance and so he typed up his question and hit the "Post" button, dreading what was about to come.  That's when it happened.  The window to the right of his computer smashed apart and a large black object flew through it into the room.  It was a bob-omb!  To Be Continued...

And if you just read all of that, you can congratulate yourself for having less of a life than I do! XD Just kidding.  But like I said above, I have this little question that I really want to know the answer to.  I'm sorry if it's a waste of time or if it's been answered before, but I'm not intending to cause problems.  My situation is listed below and I underlined the main questions for your quick accessing pleasure!

I have this big Yoshi fan fiction that I'm currently writing and I really like, but I don't know what to do with it.  I’ve been thinking about putting it up on other fan websites so more people can read it, but I have also been thinking about whether I should maybe try to publish it someday.  I know that could be impossible since Nintendo has a copyright on their games, characters, and everything else, but who knows what could happen in the future? (If Nintendo goes overboard with their innovation thing or something.) Do you know if anyone has tried to publish their Nintendo fan fiction and what happened?  Is there any way to publish things related to Nintendo without their permission?

I know that I could easily have no trouble giving the story to a website, but then I worry that if I could make it into a book somehow that people wouldn’t buy it after reading it already.  Or maybe they would steal the idea and claim that it was their story.  For the first problem, I could probably take care of easily by adding more chapters that aren’t in the original, or changing things, or only showing part of it as a sample.  But the second problem would be... a problem.  So here’s my second question.  Do you know if fan fiction websites have an option that will prevent cheapskates from copying and pasting the words from my work?  Or if I can make it un-copy-able or whatever? >_> That would really help me a lot.

One thing I should mention is that the size of this story is already growing HUGE (possibly to the length of a real book) and that could scare many fans from reading.  But I do think it will be a great story and I will take whatever advice I can get for what I should do.  This reminds me of that one thread about someone who wanted to make a Mario movie, but this is on a much lower-scale. (I'm only going to aim for a movie if I can get it published and it does good enough.  And, yes I do think it will be that good IMO!) Thank you! (=(:  )@)

General Chat / A poll for men only?
« on: May 04, 2006, 03:15:32 PM »
First there was the toilet paper roll poll... and now this!  Don't ask what ever possessed me to make this poll (LD made me do it!), but I find this both interesting and funny.  Most of the time when I go to a public restroom, I'm way too chicken to use the urinal if others are around and if the things out in the open, so I usually wait to use the toilet.  How do you other guys feel about this?  Does anyone else ever feel like I do?  Who thinks that we need more privacy or something?

If this topic is inappropriate, I'm sorry.  I'm not trying to be sick, just considering the part of fear or embarrasment in the mind. *flush*

Hey!  Does anyone know where I can purchase the Ambassadors of Funk: SMCD?  I've heard a few of their songs on WTMK and I always enjoy them (in fact, they're some of the songs I most look forward to).  Since my birthday is coming up in one month, I thought I would see if I can help my parents find it online at a cheaper price, but so far all I found was a "generous" offer on eBay for $200.  They said it was really hard to find now but I just don't want to believe this is the only one left.  Thanks for the help!

Welcome to Super Mehrio World!  World!  World!  (=(:  )@)

Not at the Dinner Table / I Don't Believe It!
« on: March 31, 2006, 09:48:07 AM »
In the topic “A Survey This Is” I’ve had a lot of fun talking about beliefs and learning what other people believe.  This got me to thinking... what else do people believe in?  The paranormal?  The supernatural?  The weird, crazy, or seemingly impossible? What exactly do you believe in and why?

Now I give you the opportunity to talk about which of the following things and others you believe. Tell stories of what you’ve heard, why you think it’s real or not, and anything else you can think of.  This topic isn’t for making fun of people (most of you already know that though), so please be careful of what you say and respect other’s opinions.  You can question them but try not to redicule them.

As for myself, I believe in most of the things on this list (as of the first time I wrote this) and think that either people are telling the truth, or are experiencing something that isn’t "normal" but might now be what they think it is.  I’ve talked about my religious beliefs in “A Survey This Is” but I also have another belief about the world and this one might blow your mind out.  Okay.  I believe... that a few dinosaurs may still be alive today.  There, I said it and I can imagine if you are ROFL or WTD-ing.  I know how crazy it sounds, but I have a reason for thinking this and I’ll tell you why.

Many honest people including scientists have claimed to see large creatures while exploring hidden parts of the world (like Asia, Africa, and sometimes America) and some of these creatures match the description of dinosaurs.  I’m sure that some were lying or made a hoax just to try and become famous or something, but I also think that some of these people have to be telling the truth.  I also know that everyone says that dinosaurs went extinct, but maybe some of them survived somehow and are hiding in the world.  The Loch Ness monster, Mokele-Mbembe, Kongamato, and others... is it possible?!  Go ahead and laugh if you want but I’m going to trust the accounts of some of these “witnesses” and dare to believe what many dino lovers would only dream of. (But I don't believe in the Yoshisaurus Rex, so don't worry about that XD)

So anyway... what do you believe? Let me know the other stuff I forget too.  I didn't include God because that's what the other topic was about.

If you want to hear about more strange things, you can go to newanimal.org and other sites about crytpozoology and stuff.  If any Bible readers want to learn about some real strange stuff in the Bible, read Job 40:15-24 and chapter 41, and Genesis 6:1-4.

Edit: I sure wish we had an "alphabetical order" box so I could keep my poll in order. DX If I add more options and rearrange things that already have votes for them, will that screw up everything or do the votes automatically stay with the right words?

General Chat / The best year of my life (when was yours?)
« on: January 01, 2006, 03:02:31 PM »
Dude! I don’t know about you but for me this has been a really terrific year.  I can’t believe how good it’s been.  So many fun experiences.  I’ll be more than happy to tell you about them soon (not now because you might get scared out of your whole mind) but first I’ll just ask you the questions. (I) When was the best time(s) of your life?  Not just in 2005 (II) What’s the best thing that’s ever happened to you or you’ve ever done? And (III) what’s the greatest/coolest thing you’ve always wanted to do, possible or impossible? And just for fun… what New Year’s Eve resolutions do you plan to break right away?  Only answer the questions you want to.

Before I begin, I have to mention a little thing. Remember in Watoad’s “Amazing Unexperiences” thread when I mentioned something about having an idea kind of like his?  This is that topic.  Woo-hoo.

Now for my own huge account.  You may remember a lot of these things I said.  2005: Y.R.’s Year of Awesome

Favorite memories of the year (in order even, I think):
(1) Got my driver’s license today… hooray!  And I only failed once before that! (because of a stupid bad last-minute yellow light decision)
(2) Fifth draws a great picture of my character, Yoshisaurus Rex, that I’m now using for my avatar.  Thanks again, man.
(3) For a birthday present, Grandma got me the Mega Man Anniversary Collection and this was the first time I ever played a Mega Man game.  Na-na-na-na-nuh, nuh-na-na-na-nuh (na-nuh-na)!
(4) One of my best birthday parties, with just me and my Dad.  He drove me around and we did fun stuff that I wanted to do like go to Best Buy, a large book store (where I got a FoxTrot comic), and Game Stop (where I played Donkey Kong Jungle Beat finally).  We also ate at IHOP for the first time and that was so delicious!  Slobberin’ good!
(5) At an amusement park I won a Sonic doll and got a caricature of myself for the first time.  I also threw up for the first time after going on a ride (o 8(X O)
(6) I finally got a cell phone, a debit card, and opened a checking account (maybe I should have done that sooner).  I also lost my allowance though because the phone plan costs $15 a month and usually I get $10 a month.
(7) Got my first very own personal computer, an E-machine!!  So long, Windows 98. XP  This computer also lets me listen to WTMK from Media Player unlike the last one and that’s pretty sweet.
[8] Star Wars III, baby!
(9) Best job ever!  I worked at a camp in another town and earned money for college, stayed in a cabin, read some good books, watched some good DVDs, rode a horse, swam in a big pool, spent an entire day with my roommate on the road, played Donkey Konga and Smash Bros with my other roommate, acted in great drama for the first time in a long time, grew out my side burns a little for the first time #^_^#, and made a lot of great new friends and memories with them.  This alone was the best part of the whole year.
(10) Got that green 1-up T-shirt I wanted so bad.  Also got my first Sonic shirt; a cool black Sonic X T-shirt for $10.
(11) My family went to our state fair for the first time!
(12) Went to my first water park with my brother and grandma.  Better than awesome!
(13) Fun college classes this year: Had “Exploring Music” (history of music and composers) and two online computer classes, which are all things I love.  On the other hand, Biology almost sucked the life out of me.  But I did learn quite a lot from that and it was funny how many times I thought about episodes of The Magic School Bus when I studied certain subjects.
(14) Sonic X season 3 begins!  Maybe I didn’t need to mention this.
(15) Learn about the Revolution and the controller and experience first horror and then huge excitement (and we are still waiting for that!)
(16) Some time in October I have my 1-year anniversary at the Fungi Forums.  And then in November… we get a new message board that makes many of our dreams come true.  Do the Mario! (E I)Xo{D
(17) A friend’s relative who used to play for the Panthers moved over to the Bears.  According to the friend, this guy said he was training as hard as he could so that he beat his old team when they played each other (just to show them how much he had improved).  On Sunday, Nov. 20, the Bears played the Panthers and the Bears won!  I felt so happy and fortunate that I could see that (because I hardly ever watch foot ball) and felt happy for the guy too.  But I do feel sorry for you Panthers fans.
(18) For Christmas I got Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix, my first DDR game (and first Mario game for GC)!  At first I didn’t think I would like it but then I tried playing on Hard and found out how fun it can get.  And the music… almost every song is great.  As soon as I learn how to play without hurting my left foot I bet I’ll like this game even more.  Se-quel!  Se-quel!
(19) The day after I finish reading the first Chronicles of Narnia book, Grandma takes my brother and I to see the movie!  That was so good.  Not at all safe, but very good.

Even though I said that this year was really good, it actually wasn’t my best year.  Did I fool you there?  Ha ha.  The best year of my life was a long time ago, and it involves religion so I don’t know if it would be polite/proper to say it or not.  But I hope this can turn out to be more than just a guy blabbing about his life and that others can find things to talk about too.  I’m just too excited and thankful to keep this stuff to myself you know!  (=(:  )|)

Now I want to hear what you have to say!  And hope that this isn’t my worst idea ever.

General Chat / Christmas polls and stories
« on: December 22, 2005, 12:09:21 PM »
The Christmas threads just keep getting made like wooden toys, growing like Santa's belly, and flying around like his reindeer.  But at least this is one poll that your tongue won't freeze to!  Okay, I think that's more than enough bad jokes for the rest of the year.  This topic is about everything you like about Christmas and more.  Memories, traditions, gifts, etc.  Something today made me remember this little activity we did at my school in 2002 when the teacher gave us students a list of Christmas questions to answer just for fun.  So I thought that maybe we could do that here too if that's not a problem.  Here are those questions!  But you don't have to answer all of them, just the ones you want.  I may answer some later.

(1) Poll: What is your favorite Christmas carol?  I can add more later.
(2) What are your favorite holiday treats?
(3) What would you like to receive in your stocking?
(4) What are Christmas traditions your family enjoys each year?
(5) What is the BEST gift you've ever received for Christmas?
(6) What is your favorite Christmas movie?
(7) Do you have a favorite Christmas ornament?  Which one?
(8) Do you have a favorite Christmas memory?

There ya go!  Have fun and feel free to mention any carols I forgot because I probably missed a ton.

Video Game Chat / What next gen system will you get?
« on: November 19, 2005, 10:44:56 AM »
It was bound to happen eventually!  Even though a lot of people will vote Nintendo obviously because of Mario and their sweet new innovations, I want to see how it does against the other 2 systems.  I wanted to make this poll at Next-Gen Stinks but I guess you can't make polls wherever you want.  I put them in alhabetical order just to be fair and you can even vote for 2 systems if you're that kind of crazy gamer :).  Let the voting begin!

General Chat / What is your weekend schedule like?
« on: November 04, 2005, 11:51:45 PM »
The chances of a topic like this not already being out there is about as thin as amoeba hair.  But my computer is slow so I don't feel like going through FF history right now (and Google didn't show anything like it).  So... I'll see what happens.

Here's my schedule.  Right now, like I've mentioned before, I'm doing college work so I can't spend a bunch of time goofing off, and now better understand why some sites take so long to update.  So the weekends are great for me.

On Friday, at 9:30 sharp I usually try to get online and do stuff until 12:30.  Before I do this, I write down on my computer ideas I have for fun activities including topics to reply to at TMK (I know, I'm a weirdo).  I try to watch at least 1 Strong Bad e-mail (or until I find one that's funny IMO), search for Nintendo info, check out reviews for upcoming movies, and stuff like that.  Ocassionally I'll go to a home foot ball since those are fun to watch and some of my friends play as well, plus many from my old school watch.  Or maybe I'll play some video games that appeal to me at the moment and lose track of time.

Saturday mornings... I hate to admit this... I try to watch Sonic X since I've been watching since show 1.  Sometimes I like it, sometimes I don't really, sometimes it's just both.  I might watch a few more shows after that like TMNT and One Piece and then I have to do a little cleaning in the living room (moms really know how to keep you working).  I go back to my stupid work, and then do whatever during breaks.  I watch Red Green occasionaly, it's real funny.  I stay up until like 11 and then go to sleep, just like you probably are right now!

Sunday, my family goes to church, our grandma might come over, I usually read the Funnies if she does come because she brings them, and then go back to work again.  Yay.

What do you do?  Probably much more interesting than me.  Lizard Dude: I feed my giant lizards in my backyard zoo, play WoW, then go sky diving.  It's okay.
