Hay guys!

With two new Mario designs coming out, I was wondering which you all thought was the best.

My favorite was Sunshine, but I think Galaxies looks better, his design looks really smooth and his hands are HUEG!!!

Mine is SMB 3, don't ask me why, it just is. I love the background art, the enemy design, and Mario's character design.

It's pretty nice how Brawl is sticking to how the characters usually look, but with really careful detail.

I liked 64, just because it made Mario look... younger, almost. Sunshine was weird, Mario was all angry and stuff.

I didn't think Mario was "angry" in Sunshine, and if he was, why shouldn't he be? He was trying to have a nice, relaxing vacation with Peach, and Bowser shows up and ruins it! I'd be angry if that happened to me.

Mines the SM64 incarnation of mario, because although he's a bit rough around the edges he's what I imagined him to look like. Mario in SMS looked a bit too tanned for my liking.

I'd say his SMB3 look. This look is pretty uniform (no pun intended) for Mario now. In Donkey Kong, SMB2 and SMB1, his colors were messed up, and in Brawl/Galaxy his overalls look too realistic. Realism isn't suited to Mario.

Um, yeah. In SMB3, Mario's overalls were black. I really don't think that Mario goes for black pants anymore.

Seconded. It just plain worked at the time. Heck, it still does for me.

Mario 64 made Mario's eyes so close, he could probably wear one eye part of a goggle in both eyes.

I voted for the Galaxy look, since it looks like most of the basic designs in the spin-offs, which I like.

How can you NOT like Galaxy? I mean, with the Zelda games, the art's always changing, so you can have preferences, but with Mario, it's always just smoother and shinier! Unless, of course, you count the Smash Bros. games, but I'm partial to the less-gritty look.

Nah.

Little things like head and body shape have changed over time.
I'd have to agree Mario looks mad in SMSu art. D:<
Anyway... I really liked the style of Superstar Saga's official art. Especially for Luigi with his candy cane socks... In-game, Brawl's style still takes my vote.

Huh. Maybe that's what my boyfriend meant when he said that my Luigi beanie had "SM64 eyes"

I still don't think Mario looks angry is Sunshine, he looks wary, yeah, because you never know when some baddie's gonna come and knock him out.

My favorite design of Mario gameplay-speaking would have to be Melee. He just seems really smooth and flowing to me.

One thing I don't like about Brawl is the color. Look at Mario, look at Link, look at Bowser, and look at all the rest. Where's the bright, garish color? Why are these guys not wildy supersaturated like they used to? These boring colors take some of the fun out. While these Brawl graphics certainls look smoother than those of, say, Super Mario Sunshine, I would actually rate the graphics lower than SMS's because of the lame color. And what's with thise frills on Peach's dress? They look ridiculous.

My favorite is the Melee and Brawl designs, because they are more realistic and detailed. For example Mario's overall's actually look like denim. I always hated how the other 3d games used flat colors for the textures.

my fave Mario game has to be super Mario 64. it was so different because you had a lot of new moves, some of which have not been seen since 64, i mean sure some are not very useful (like the break dance kick) but it was a new game with amazing gameplay, and i have not seen a 3D Mario game that has matched up or beaten super Mario 64

In level designs, Galaxy takes the cake. Costume design is SMB 3.

Galaxy. It gives Mario a new look but doesn't suck as much as Brawl's design. It's just so...dull.

Galaxy's DOES triumph--none of that exaggerated overall-realism of Brawl, just shinier, near-imperceptibly fuzzy clothes. And, seriously, when he does his spin move... huge hands!
