Author Topic: Do You Watch Anime?  (Read 5740 times)

« on: February 22, 2006, 01:26:25 AM »
If you do, what is your favorite? I used to be into Ranma, but I don't get to watch it anymore (my sister went off to college, taking her Ranma movies with her).

I also started this topic because I have a question for anybody that is really into anime and remembers possible movies and/or shows from the 80s-90s.. but I'll wait and see what people say. :)

I really want to watch InuYasha more... I saw an ep once, and liked it a lot. Modern school schedules restrict this, though...

My first anime was Dragon Ball, I think. Great memories... enemies that were awesome, heaps of humour, and truck loads of adventure.

My favorite is Yakitate!! Japan, followed closely by Midori no Hibi.

I also really like Kogepan, G-on Riders, Cowboy Bebop, Full Metal Panic, Dragonball, Dragonball Z, and Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo (original Japanese version only).

I used to enjoy Fullmetal Alchemist, but I haven't really strived to watch it anymore. If I did anything, I'd read the mangas...which weren't all that bad.
Alas! I have returned. (3/22/07)

I like Full Metel Alchemist, Cowboy Bebop, and, if I remember and am awake, I'll watch Lupin the 3rd.

I used to watch Tokyo MewMew(aka MewMew Power) but they cancelled it. Me and Jess(GiftedGirl) watch videos of the older seasons of the Pokemon anime, though.

I also used to watch Pokemon alot.. mostly b/c my tv being in my room was new, and when I had it turned just right, the antenna would pick up a station in Tennessee that showed Pokemon. That was a couple (or more) years ago though. :)

I used to watch Digimon and Pokemon. Pokemon was bad for me, cause I got addicted and so I stopped watching. But that was years ago.

Like I said in another anime topic, Rahxephon is an awesome anime series, it combines perfectly the element of romance and science fiction.

Record of Lodoss War is probably my favorite anime, as I enjoyed both the OAV and TV series. I believe that's what I said in the last thread.

I tried to think of a way to get the below information across to those interested, and not those who I would deem too young for such things, but I figure a spoiler tag would only make everyone wish to read it all that much more. So, if you can't handle mature anime I'd advise you to kindly skip over my next paragraph. Thanks.

Recently I finally sat down and viewed an anime that was recommended to me some time ago: Elfen Lied. It's not really the type of anime I commonly watch, and it was a bit uncharacteristic of me to take the time to watch it, as it is extremely graphic, and has excessive amounts of both gore and nudity, as well as psychological injury and taboo such as incest, and sexual harassment. I know at this point you're probably wondering what could possibly make it good with so many terrible things. However, keep in mind that something that addresses terrible things doesn't make it inherently bad. Though I was often put off by the nudity and excessive gore (As I feel that both are used mostly for the sake of differentiating itself from the crowd), I found myself enjoying the series very much. The series also has a heavy romantic theme to it, under all of the action. So, if you don't care for that sort of thing I'd probably steer clear. Otherwise, I'd recommend it to any of you who're 18 and older, and can handle mature themes. Oh, and the music was pretty nice, too. :-)

EDIT: After re-reading the paragraph, I've realized I made it out to sound like pornography, but it's not.

That aside, I also have enjoyed Oh! My Goddess, Naruto, One Piece, Love Hina, and Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo.

Also, please keep in mind all Anime I have mentioned in this thread are referring to the subbed Japanese versions.

I watched Pokémon when I was back in Elementary school. I stopped watching it after Brock left the series.

After that, I didn't watch any anime for awhile (I thought it was weird).

A couple of years ago, a friend turned me back on by telling me to watch episodes of InuYasha, Trigun, and Cowboy Bebop when they came on. I watched them, and liked them all. I also watched Case Closed, FLCL and Lupin the 3rd when they aired on TV.

I don't watch anime as much now, but I continue watching InuYasha when they air new episodes.

I have a Raxephon shirt that my girlfriend gave me, that a friend of hers gave her. I like the shirt.. I should try to find it and wear it tomorrow.

Edit: I meant I should try to wear it for a pic of myself that's going on this site.

Dragon Ball and Sailor Moon are classics to me. I'm currently watching Naruto and Pokemon, and I'm guilty of watching Hacked Piece.
As a game that requires six friends, an HDTV, and skill, I can see why the majority of TMK is going to hate on it hard.

I also enjoy a casual dose of One Piece... dubbed!11!1!1!1!

Seriously, Pokemon would be a much better anime if it wasn't for its abundance of stale and reptitive storylines. We need Pokemon XD material, Nintendo!

I was watching animes on TV long time ago, but now I prefer the subbed series.
I finished Samurai Champloo two weeks ago and used to watch Naruto but because of the fillers I took a break.
Now I regulary watch Bleach.

I don't really consider myself a true "Anime fan" by most standards, but I do watch it often. But now there are American animation studios releasing shows that are made to look like Anime, but just use that style of art.

Lately, the Pokemon Chronicles are being shown in Australia... I watched a couple of episodes, they're okay.
