The red-clad plumber regarded the silent, still form of Kirby for a moment longer, scatching his head and wondering why the day was turning out so strangely.
Snapping out of his state of bewilderment, Mario turned to look towards the Warp Pipe before his house, leading into Toad Town.
"Guess I may as well-a follow Luigi. I sure hope Kirby doesn't-a steal anything..."
With that, Miyamoto's Jumpman lept nimbly down the Warp Pipe, the traditional 'warp' sound eminating from the green aparatus...
*warpity warp warp warp!*
Mario lept over the edge of the pipe as it ejected him, landing within the business of Toad Town. Except... ...it wasn't busy.
Not a single Toad roamed the streets, nor was the unwanted carnage of Bowser afoot... so what was going on?
Mario frowned, "What's-a going on here? Where is everyone?"
After a moment's wandering, Mario happened upon the figures of Toad and his brother Luigi, who were just as much in the dark as poor Mario.
"Heeey, Toad, Luigi, do you two know what's-a going on??"
Mario took off his cap and wiped his brow, in thought.
