General Chat / What do YOU collect?
« on: June 01, 2005, 07:39:53 PM »
Or, what did you used to collect? Everyone liked to collect something.

For me, it was and still is Pokemon cards, and I'm not embarrassed to admit it. Also, in the past, I have collected Beanie Babies, Goosebumps books, Pez dispensers, and Happy Meal trinkets.

So what did/do you collect?
If anyone says, "Dust," I will smack them back to last Tuesday.

This is just something that's been going through my head lately. I just felt like casting this Dickens classic with our favorite characters.

Ebenezer Scrooge: Wario

Jacob Marley: Waluigi

Bob Crachit: Mario

Mrs. Crachit: Peach

Fred (Scrooge's nephew): Luigi

Emily (Scrooge's old flame): Daisy

Fezziwig: Toadsworth

Ghost of Christmas Past: Yoshi

Ghost of Christmas Present: Donkey Kong

Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come: Bowser

Ignorance and Want (GoCP's children): DK Jr. and Toadette

Collectors for the Poor: Koopa and Paratroopa

'Why, it's Christmas Day!' Boy: Toad

Scrooge's Maid/Caretaker: Birdo

Tiny Tim: Baby Mario

Um, yeah.

General Chat / Takin' A Break
« on: December 04, 2004, 06:29:02 PM »
I've been coming here a lot and I realized that I need to take a break. I need to catch up on my schoolwork as well as my social life. I'm not leaving because anything has upset me, I just can't spend all my time staring at a computer screen. I don't know when I'll come back, but it won't be anytime soon. I'm really going to miss some of the great people I've met here:

Chup & LD: You are two of the wittiest and most intellegent people I have ever met. Your posts are always one of the highlights of my day.

Deez and MegaByte: I look up to you guys with utmost respect and I'm glad you have accepted me as a worthy member.

Koop: You know we share this strange bond between us that links our lives together. We're always thinking the same thing. I feel a great connection to you.

Vid, Markio, Marlie, o_0, Meowrik, TEM, luigi~lover, Sunbun, ne89, and Eclipsed Moon: We've shared some great times in the chatrooms. From Meow's Trivia Nights to Vid's boredom to Markio's love for Marlie to #tlk, every conversation we've shared has in a wonderful experience in my life. And EM, although you're new, you seem very promising in becoming a prolific member. Everything you say makes me literally "lol."

And finally, Sapph:
You have been the greatest person I have met throughout my whole TMK experience. You've cheered me up when I was down. You've helped me sort out all of my problems. You've been the greatest friend anyone could ask for. And you are just that, one of my best friends, inside and outside of the cyber world. You I will miss the most.

Well, my eyes are starting to well up from the memories of all my experiences, so I'll end here. I wish you all a Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Happy Hanukah, and Kwazy Kwanza. I will come back, once I've gotten my life straightened out. I love all you guys.

Not in that way, of course.

After reading Sapphira's "The Prophecy," I've been inspired to write a fanfic of my own. This is my first attempt at writing a fanfic, so please don't critique it too harshly. And if anything in the story doesn't match up with the Mario storyline, it's, uh, my creative liberties.

Prolouge:

Night had fallen over the Mushroom Kingdom.  Everyone was fast asleep, let alone one person.  Make that two.
"It worked!" shouted a small, bespectacled man.  "My invention's been a complete success!"
"Your invention?!" exclaimed a voice strikingly similar to the short man's.  "Excuse me, but I believe I am the creator of this device.  See?  Look right here."  The second figure pointed to an engraving on the side of the object.  "'Gadd, Inc,'" he read.  "That's me, Elvin Gadd."
"I had a feeling you'd think that," said the first man.  "But, in fact, I am Elvin Gadd.  You are just my clone.  You are the product of this contraption."
"No, you are MY clone," said the second E. Gadd, "and I created YOU."
The two argued about who was the actual one and who was the copy long into the night.
"Wow," thought the real scientist. "He actually thinks he's the real one.  We are complete copies of each other, body AND mind.  Is the world ready for two Elvin Gadds?  This could get a bit too confusing and hectic.  Especially if he keeps arguing like this.  Maybe I should make a few adjustments to the Duplicator.  But first, I must get rid of this annoying fellow."
"Alright," said E. Gadd.  "If you are the real one of us, then would you mind telling me what this invention is?"  Gadd pointed to a large, metal chamber.
"Of course, that's the Dimensional Transporter."
"No, you're wrong.  It's the Hologram Chamber, capable of projecting any location the person inside so desires."
     "No, it's not."
"Of course it is.  Step inside and see."
The clone stepped into the structure.  The doors closed around him.
"Okay," said E. Gadd, as he walked to the control panel.  "What would you like to see?"
"I don't know," shouted the clone from inside.  "Pirates have always interested me.  Let me see a pirate ship."
"As you wish," said Elvin, as he plugged in the coordinates for Dimension #GR347 534.  "Goodbye."
"Huh?  What do-" said the clone, as he was transported to an alternate dimension.
The scientist then went to go work on his Duplicator.  "I am so gullible," he chuckled to himself.

General Chat / Best Day of Your Life
« on: June 16, 2004, 06:39:07 PM »
Here, I want you guys to describe the best day of your life (as stated in the topic title). It will be fun and it will make you feel good writing about it.

For me, the best day of my life was this past year's homecoming dance. I went alone and was afraid to ask anyone to slow dance (I didn't care to much about the fast dancing). For the first such dance, I stood off to the side, and my best friend asked if I wanted to dance with her since her date didn't show. So I did, and that gave me the confidence to ask others. For the next one, I asked the prettiest girl in the school to dance and she did! Someone even took our picture and said we made a cute couple (I still need to get a copy of that picture). Finally, there was one girl who never danced, and she was the one that I wanted to dance with since the beginning. So, towards the end, she was getting her coat and about to leave, so I stopped her, introduced myself, and told her that I had made a promise to myself that by the end of the night, I was going to dance with her. So she accepted, and we danced the last dance of the night together.

Video Game Chat / Nintendo Characters

Does anyone know where I can get character listings for Nintendo games? Is there such a database, or will I have to actually do my own investigating into FAQ's and such?

Forum Games / The Alphabet Story
« on: April 05, 2004, 05:31:25 PM »
In this story, each person posts only one sentence, and it must begin with the letter that comes next in the alphabet.

Ex:
Albert went to the store to buy some peas.
Bobby followed him.
"Can't you see I want to be left alone?!" yelled Albert.

See? Fun! Let's start.

A few weeks ago in the Mushroom Kingdom, Mario was getting ready for Toad's birthday party.

General Chat / Simpsons: Shark Jumpers?
« on: February 23, 2004, 08:48:26 PM »
I have determined that most, if not all, of the people at these forums are Simpsons fans. I, being the ultimate Simpsons fan (don't try to disagree, you will be proven wrong), believe that the show has jumped the shark (www.jumptheshark.com for those of you who don't know that term). What are your opinions?

Because, why not? I've yet to find any other '88ers in these forums. Who else was born in the year of odd sequels (such as SMB2 and Zelda 2)?
