Video Game Chat / Too expensive?
« on: March 08, 2004, 01:40:19 PM »
There is quite a lot of speculation about the extra features being incorporated in Sony's PSP handheld, and I am thinking that the system will be very expensive (possibly over $200).

Of course, all of these rumors are just that--rumors, so we need to wait for Sony to make an official announcement about the PSP (hopefully at this year's E3).

The main question is whether the system will have successful sales. Knowing Sony, they are not going to release the PSP without a lineup of great games (Sony has announced a huge amount of games will be released for the PSP's launch).

And because the PSP is a PlayStation brand, it will surely sell well regardless of it's price--but to be realistic, the system should be priced between $100 and $200. I would not want to buy a handheld system for over $200.

What about the Nintendo DS? There is not much information about Nintendo's new handheld--what we do know is that it will have two game screens and will have two processors...

Nintendo is being very secretive about the DS, and I hope they will release it with a decent amount of games (Mario, Metroid, and Zelda would all be great launch games). Regarding the price, I don't think the DS will be too expensive, since it does not have as many features as the Sony PSP. Nintendo has always made their products to be very affordeable compared to their competitors', and the DS should continue that trend.

Mario Chat / "Mamma-mia! It's-a me, Mario!"

How many of you can do a good impersonation of Mario's voice? How many other Nintendo character voices can you do?

I can do the voices of Mario, Luigi, Wario, and Bowser (I made up my own voice for Bowser--kind of growly and horse).

Video Game Chat / Nintendo is the BEST game developer !
« on: February 27, 2004, 06:01:13 PM »
Ever since I first played Super Mario Bros. on the NES, I immediately knew something was special about Nintendo. Nintendo games are quality, that how they've always been. Nintendo never focused too much on graphics and enhanced technology like other companies; all Nintendo cared about was if their games were fun.

I grew up playing Nintendo games; I am now 19 years old, and I still play Nintendo games almost daily! I will always be a Nintendo fan, even if the company decided to quit making systems and instead develop games for other companies (which probably will not happen).

I have owned almost all of the Nintendo game systems, including:
NES
Super NES
Nintendo 64 (I still have it)
Game Boy
Game Boy Pocket
Game Boy Color
Game Boy Advance (I still have it)

I want to get a GameCube but I do not have enough mnoney right now. I am saving my money to pay my cell phone bill and for my college tuition.

Even though I began my Nintendo infatuation with Mario games, I have since became interested in their other franchises (Metroid, Zelda, etc.) In conclusion, I will say this: Nintendo is the BEST videogame developer ever!

If any of you want to rant about why you like Nintendo, please reply.

Video Game Chat / Nintendo memories...
« on: February 27, 2004, 02:05:38 PM »
Remember when you were a little kid, when you first played Super Mario Bros. on the NES? I remember the first time I played Super Mario Bros. and Duck Hunt on the NES...good times indeed. I have so many memories of playing the great games of Nintendo.

If you can remember a great time when you first played a particular Nintendo game or a Nintendo system, post it here.

How many people are going to see that new Mel Gibson movie? I know I will. Being a Christian and a God-and-Jesus Christ-believer, I am very excited to see The Passion of Christ.

Video Game Chat / The Nintendo DS...
« on: February 23, 2004, 04:59:10 PM »
The Nintendo DS seems like a really innovative idea--two game screens on one system. This may bring some unique twists for types of games that are made for the system.

I think it's a bit weird that Nintendo is releasing a second portable system along side the Game Boy products. I don't think Nintendo needs two portable systems...they are already doing fine with the Game Boy Advance.

Nintendo stated that the DS will be the "3rd pillar" in their system lineup (Game Boy and their home consoles being the first 2 pillars). Nintendo also stated that the DS may decide the fate of their company--meaning that Nintendo's success may depend on if the DS succeeds.

Video Game Chat / Nintendo compared to Disney...
« on: February 22, 2004, 03:22:24 PM »
I just realized a common trait in both Nintendo and the Disney company. Both companies specialize in creating entertainment products (Nintendo with videogames and Disney with animation) that are  fun for the entire family.

Disney makes animated movies that are enjoyable for both children and adults. They are a family oriented company.

Nintendo is the same way; they make videogames that are fun for the entire family. They are a family oriented company.

I think that is why both Nintendo and Disney have been so successful over the years, because their products can be enjoyed by the entire family. I LOVE NINTENDO (and Disney)!

Video Game Chat / I am so angry with Nintendo...
« on: February 07, 2004, 02:44:23 PM »
Who at Nintendo had the "amazing" idea to sell Rare--one of their biggest game developers--to Microsoft? That's like saying Sega will sell their Sonic the Hedgehog franchise to Microsoft! Of course that would not happen, but that was just a poor example.

Nintendo had no reason to sell Rare; they just wasted the talent of a good game developer, which is a poor loss on Nintendo's part. After 10 years of making Nintendo games, Rare was just tossed away like garbage. Nintendo should have known that Rare was one of their best game developers; some of the most successful games on Nintendo 64 were made by Rare!

Now that Rare is with Microsoft, they are still making games for Nintendo's Game Boy! If Microsoft wants to make handheld games, then they should create their own handheld system. Microsoft shouldn't waste their time making crappy games for a rival company. That's like saying Nintendo will make games for the Xbox...which of course won't happen.

Nintendo really screwed up this time. I am so confused and angry with them!

Video Game Chat / Capcom, Namco, Sega, Konami...
« on: February 05, 2004, 03:49:48 PM »
Which of these game companies do you like best: Capcom, Sega, Namco, or Konami?

I personally like Capcom and Sega best.
Capcom for their variety of games like Mega Man and Street Fighter.
Sega for their icon -- Sonic the Hedgehog.

I have never realy played Konami games, like Castlevania or Metal Gear Solid. So I can't really comment on them.

Video Game Chat / Sonic Heroes (for GameCube, of course)
« on: January 30, 2004, 07:20:01 PM »
Have any of you played Sonic Heroes for GameCube? I have, but it was only a short demo at Wal-Mart. That game is surprisingly much better than the previous Sonic Adventure games. The graphics are good, but they don't really push the hardware capabilities...but no one really cares about that except geeky low-life Xbox fans.

The speed in Sonic Heroes is fanatstic. It is a LOT faster than the previous Sonic Andventure games, with a solid framerate of at least 60 frames per second!

I was in awe when I saw the incredibly designed levels that I could play in. There were only two levels in the demo, though: a beach level similar to the first level in Sonic Adventure 1, and a mountain level similar to the one in Sonic Adventure 2.

If you are unfamiliar with the gameplay of Sonic Heroes, you basically play as a team of three characters. Each team consists of a leader and two followers. Each team member has a special ability that helps you get past tough obsticals: Power, Speed, and Flight. Tails is the Flight member, Sonic is the Speed member, and Knuckles is the Power member. You can switch between team members at any time, which really adds variety to the game.

Example, if you are playing with Sonic in the lead, and you come up to a high wall that he can't jump over, simply switch your lead character to Tails, and he can use his Flight ability to carry the other characters over the wall!

Sonic Heroes seems like a really fun game that adds a lot of innovation to the Sonic franchise. The team member formula is very unique and allows you to have varied gameplay styles depending on the characters you use.

There are 4 teams in all, with three characters to a team.
The teams are listed below:
* Team Sonic - Tails, Knuckles, and Sonic
* Theam Dark - Shadow, Rouge the Bat, and a robot named Omega.
* Team Rose - Amy Rose, Big the Cat, and Cream the Rabbit (from Sonic Advance 2)
* Team Chaotix - I forgot their names, but this team is more unique than the other ones, because they have different abilities that the other characters don't have.

I highly suggest you play Sonic Heroes if you have not already. Is is definitely worth it!

Video Game Chat / PlayStation Portable...
« on: January 25, 2004, 07:54:52 PM »
I have heard many rumors concerning the PlayStation Portable's price. Some people have said that it may cost over $400! If this is true, then I highly doubt anyone will buy it. Even if it has good launch games, a $400 price is just too high for most people to afford.

I highly doubt it will cost over $400, because Sony wouldn't be that stupid. Sony knows that people will be turned away by a game system (portable or television-based) that cost more than a standard television.

What do you guys think? I hope Sony announces their price for the PSP during E3 2004.

If Microsoft made a handheld gaming system, it would probably be too heavy to fit in your pocket! ;-)

General Chat / Please understand...
« on: January 17, 2004, 11:21:42 AM »
I am getting tired of reading all of these biased "Xbox sucks" comments at TMK Forums.

You people need to grow up and accept the fact that some people actually enjoy Xbox games! That's why for 2 years Xbox was outselling GameCube, because Microsoft knows how to market their games for teenage gamers (who are the majority of videogame players).

I'm not insulting Nintendo by any means, just please respect other people's decision to enjoy Xbox games. I have played Xbox before, I enjoy it. Sure it may not have the best games in the world, but the ones I have played are actually quite fun!

Here are a few Xbox games I have played:
Halo
Project Gotham Racing
Project Gotham Racing 2
Amped Snowboarding
Tony Hawk's Underground
Need For Speed Underground
Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2

I realize most of these games are available on Nintendo GameCube and PlayStation systems, but they are still quite fun to play...no matter what system they're on!

Out of all the controllers I've used, I personally think the Xbox Controller S AND the GameCube controllers are the best ones! Both controllers are shaped very well to fit your hands, and the buttons and the Control Sticks respond very well. On both the Xbox and GameCube controllers, the buttons are easy to reach without cramping your fingers (*cough* PlayStation controller *cough*).

So don't immediately bash the Xbox just because it's a large system. The Super Nintendo was pretty heavy too, and nobody complained about that! Oh, and remember the original Game Boy? That was very large, and nobody complained about it!

A videogame system's size does not matter, it's the controller and games that count. Xbox may not have "Nintendo quality" games, but the games it does have are pretty interesting (for me, anyway).

Video Game Chat / The NEW Nintendo system!
« on: January 12, 2004, 09:24:11 PM »
I just read an article at Nintendojo.com that annunced Nintendo's production of a new videogame system. Nintendo confirmed to Japanese magazine Famitsu, that they are producing a new system called Connectevision. Nintendo stated that it will be able to play the existing games of their previous systems, and will feature a wireless connection.

Nintendo also stated that the new system is NOT the successor to the GameCube or Game Boy Advance, it is a modified version of the IQue that is currently only in China.

Nintendo plans to unviel the system at this year's E3, and hopes to release it internationally by the end of 2004.

Go to nintendojo.com for more information on the new Nintendo system.

This is a nonsence story similar to Mario Nonsence. You can make up whatever you want, as long as it's related to Nintendo. You may only post up to 3 sentences at a time.

I'll begin...

Mario Chat / Ideas for Mario Party 6...
« on: November 30, 2003, 01:31:23 PM »
I have a good idea for the next Mario Pary game... Since Mario Kart: Double Dash features LAN multiplayer, then why not include LAN multiplayer in Mario Party 6?

The LAN multiplayer in Mario Kart: Double Dash was a great idea, and I think they should incorporate it in their next Mario Party game!
