Author Topic: How come good Mario games get bad reviews?  (Read 4583 times)

« on: September 06, 2005, 11:45:04 AM »
I've been to Gamespot and other sites and I've seen reviews that tick me off.

Mario Kart Double Dash!!:7.9
Mario Kart 64:6.3
Mario SuperStar Baseball:6.0
Mario Party 4-6: 6.9 (5,6) 7.2 (4)

Well it may be my opinion, I think that these people are just Mario haters.

Please, stop with threads like these.

They're just opinions of other people. They can have their opinion on video games.

I like them. They might not like them, but what do I care? They're JUST opinions. Nothing more.

If you really want to know the answers to your questions, then read the reviews, instead of just looking at the numbers.

Reviews, by definition, usually explain why something got the score it did.

Moral good and bad are not subjective.

Judgments about the goodness or badness of something with regard to entertainment value, aesthetics, etc. are subjective.

A few bad reviews out of a ton of good ones? My what is the world coming to?

Kelso: Guys this is a game of Cat & Mouse between me & Hyde. I''m gonna make him admit he''s been going out with Jackie behind my back.
Fez: Guys, what happens in Cat & Mouse if the cat is retarded?
As a game that requires six friends, an HDTV, and skill, I can see why the majority of TMK is going to hate on it hard.

Yeah it annoys me that they give them bad reviews but you can't say they suck just because of that (well you can).

Is it 7.9 out of 10? That's high above average. Mario Kart 64, same thing. 6 out of 10. That's above average, because 5/10 is average, and 6 is a bigger number than 5, so that's how it works in the rating system. Besides, Mario Kart 64 was just that, above average. You might as well freak out at me for giving Super Mario 64 a 9.99 out of 10 instead of a perfect 10.

Aarom's post about "Mario Haters" bothers me so much that I'm going to sit here and just keep what I have to say to myself.

"(TEM: "Your face" wait thats what I say in real life. Where did you get that phrase?"

Um... I know like 35,000 trillion kids at my school that say that... 12,000 trillion of them saying they created it.. so yeah, let's use some inductive reasoning here.

Why does it matter what the outside world thinks about Mario? We of the Mushroom Kingdom are all that matter.
