He passed away at the age of 71 due to the ravages of Parkinson's disease.
He'll likely be best remembered as Eddie Valiant from
Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
, but I'll personally remember him as Mario Mario, a role he despised but nevertheless handled with aplomb.

Truly a sad day... I'll confess those are the only films of his I've seen, but Roger Rabbit is a classic, and I'll still stick up for him as Mario despite everything else that was a mess about that movie.

Indeed, he was everything I could have asked for in a live-action Mario. Likewise, his performance in
Hook
was among the film's... least-offending elements.

How have I never noticed this thread until now..
I don't have anything terribly heartwarming to say. I've loved him in every film I saw him in (which wasn't very many.. Just Roger Rabbit, Hook and SMB the Movie..)
He will be missed.
Kinopio is the ultimate video game character! Who else can drive a kart, host parties, play tennis, give good advice and items, and is almost always happy??
