Video Game Chat / Nintendo Games Get Boring
« on: June 02, 2008, 03:32:54 PM »
Has anyone else noticed that Nintendo games get boring after about a week? I haven't touched Brawl's case in like a month. The only reason it lasted long is the multiplayer.

Does anyone else think this way of Nintendo games?

Anyone into these games? They're pretty awesome. My sister has all of them and she's already played through them, so now I'm playing through them.

I'm on:

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney- Case 4
Phoenix Wright: Justice for All- Case 4
Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations- Case 2 (but I finished cases 4 and 5)
Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney- Case 4

Mario Chat / Super Mario 64 DS...
« on: December 29, 2007, 03:17:48 PM »
I really don't know if it was worth the money. I mean, I felt like I was just playing Super Mario 64 again with some extras that tire quickly. I was looking forward to playing the game through as Luigi, but there are character requirements for certain stars. I already have New Super Mario Bros. so I have the mini-games. It would have been better if everyone had the same moves and there were at least some new levels (not counting character unlocking levels) or relative changes to them. Also, the starting character is Yoshi! And you actually use him for the first few accomplishments! It isn't like Toad in M&L:SS where you just do a little something with him for under 1 minute. You use him! Another thing I hear is that Wario has a massive triple jump, though he's slow and sucks at jumping. I haven't gotten Wario yet, so I can't test this yet. Finally, the Power Flowers. What was wrong with the caps? I was looking forward to Metal Luigi, Balloon Yoshi, Invisible Wario, etc.

Anyway, what could have been done:

Starting Character: Mario
Different Courses/Level Changes
Characters have same moveset
Caps available to all characters
Can choose to do whatever star with whatever character

1. Is there any good that comes out of donating to the guy in Castle Town?
2. Is it possible for the Hylian Shield to break?
3. In your opinion, is it worth it to collect all 60 Poe Souls?

Mario Chat / Weirdest Mario Power-up
« on: December 19, 2007, 05:15:49 PM »
What is the oddest Mario power-up that exists?

It's a tie between Frog and Tanooki Mario; I never imagined Mario/Luigi dressing up like cats, frogs, etc. Plus, it looks pretty uncomfortable. A full cat suit in a castle full of boiling lava, or crouching most of the way through a level seems...

Mario Chat / New Super Mario Bros./World series
« on: December 17, 2007, 03:11:59 PM »
They made such a success with NSMB and it was a really fun game; they should make the same with Super Mario Bros. 2 & 3. It would be cool to see 3-D Mario/Luigi/Peach/Toad plucking vegetables, or 3-D Raccoon, Hammer, Tanooki, and Frog Mario. Also, they could do this for SMW and YI (maybe not 'cause of YIDS).

I just hope the DS doesn't die out by the time Nintendo thinks about this.

"Where there's smoke, they pinch back!"

Does anyone else here watch YouTube Poop? I like some of them, particularly ones that poke fun at Volvic and the Super Mario World Cartoon. My favorite so far is "Gopher Bash in the Night".

Forum Games / Endless Luigi Cheat
« on: November 24, 2007, 03:07:49 PM »
Post an endless cheat to get Luigi in Super Mario 64!

I'll start:

*NOTE: ALL 175 STARS ARE REQUIRED

At the File Select Screen, erase the file with 175 stars and create a new one. Now start. Instead of Peach, Luigi will appear at the opening screen and say "Haha! You can't get me! -Luigi" Mario will jump out of the pip as usual, but instead of a message appearing, a Lakitu comes and gives Mario a Bob-Omb named Floydd. You can switch between the two any time by pressing L. Now, you go into the castle, and...

Mario Chat / Next 3-D Mario Game?
« on: November 23, 2007, 01:59:45 PM »
What do you think the next 3D Mario game should be? I think they should make it like "Mario is Missing" but a cool 3D platformer. Like, you play as Luigi and go from world to world getting power stars to save Mario, and there could be multiple characters like in Super Mario 64 DS, and when you beat the game and rescue Mario, you can play as him. That or a Dr. Mario-themed one.

Fan Creations / Luigi in Space
« on: November 23, 2007, 12:19:37 PM »
As I sat at the "You can now play as Luigi" screen in Mario Galaxy, I wondered how Luigi got into space. He wasn't even at the Star Festival in the first place (or was he?) and apparently Peach, her guards, and Mario were the only ones that were put into space. But then, I thought of a story, not only explaining how he got into space, but telling what he did while Mario collected his fair share of 60 stars. The first 2 chapters are a little short, but I swear, they get longer! Here's Chapter 1 (when I wrote it I was listening to Eric Clapton's After Midnight):

Chapter One - After Midnight

Mario watched as his quick brother, Luigi, ran at top speed toward Peach's Castle.

"Come on, Mario! You can run faster!" yelled Luigi. Mario nodded and managed to get an inch closer to Luigi, who was about 5 yards ahead. Mario stopped to catch a breath, and told Luigi he'd catch up later. The 'shroom ravioli dinner wasn't sitting so well after all that running, but Mario felt happy and didn't care about the cramp. He spread out his arms like an airplane and ran to the Castle Area gates. He finally reached them and yelled "Yahoo!" after letting out a magnificent jump.

Luigi was a bit tired, and noticed his Toad friends roasting some rotisserie fried Goomba. "Hey, Luigi," said the red Toad, "wanna join us?" Luigi nodded and sat down with his fellow Mushroom Kingdom citizens. Luigi ate some and, feeling very enlightened, lay down to watch the stars. "We're gonna go say hi to the Princess, L-man!" "Okay, and don't ever call me L-man again."

As he was looking up, he saw a familiar red-hatted individual. "Bro! Come have some Goomba with us!"

As Mario approached, the Tower of a nearby building fell in front of him. "Whoa-ow!" said Mario. He looked to the side and saw Bowser's airships approaching, opening fire on the Star Festival. Mario ran past several frozen Toads and ducked to avoid an incoming cannonball. He ran as fast as he could to Peach's castle.

Luigi, in fear, jumped into the castle moat. In the middle of his jump, one of the loops of his extra sturdy overalls caught on a stick hanging out from the castle. Luigi screamed at the top of his lungs and was overcome by his screaming, so he fainted.

Chapter Two - A Familiar Spooky Manor

Luigi felt nudging on his cap. "Luigi? Luigi!" "Eh?"

Luigi woke up on the ground of a strange planet. He saw his Toad friends and 3 pumpkin-headed Goombas trapped in a bag. "Luigi! You're awake! Listen, Princess Peach and Mario were blown off to other galaxies!" Luigi was alarmed. Not by what the Toad said, but by the sight he beheld.

He saw the mansion. The mansion he won, the one Mario was kidnapped in, and the one he beat King Boo in. He trembled. "We gotta go in there! I bet that's where Mario is!" All the Toads looked at each other and shrugged. The group ventured across the bridge to the mansion. They felt funny when they were crossing, like gravity distorted or something.

They entered through the door, and saw a boo. Luigi had encountered too many, and it was getting old. He pulled out the Light-O-Matic flashlight in his pocket and shone it on the Boo, who vanished. Luigi picked up the key, and went upstairs to unlock the door. When he unlocked it, a large Boo popped out.

The Toads ran all through the Foyer, while Luigi ran into the corner. One of the Toads fell through the floor into a cannon. His head popped out and he told the group, "In here, guys!" A window opened up in front of the cannon and revealed a not-too-far-away galaxy. The Toads all ran for the cannon, looking back and yelling "Come on, Luigi!" Luigi made a run for the cannon. He was almost there, but he couldn't stop and crashed into a wall. The cannon blasted the Toads through the window , while Luigi turned around and raised his hands, surrendering.

The Boo and his friends led Luigi to a jail cell, where he hid in the corner. "Here's a plushie toy, kid!" a boo said as he tossed Luigi a glowing Power Star.

Video Game Chat / "Only-once" Game Locations
« on: November 18, 2007, 06:03:26 AM »
Has anyone here ever played games (most of you probably have) where there is an area you only can go to once, usually at the start of the game? For instance, Peach's normal castle in Paper Mario, Toad Town in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and Super Mario Galaxy (you actually can go back here but only after getting 120 stars as Luigi, which is incredibly hard), or even Destiny Islands in Kingdom Hearts? I know I'm using some bad examples, but you know those? I wish they'd give you some sort of way to get back there. In M&L:SS I spent hours doing Border Jump trying to go on the other side of that building (where Mario and Luigi crash into Stardust Fields) until I realized you only can go there once. You can go back to Destiny Islands, but it's ruined and there is nobody there. I just wish for once they'd let you go to the awesome starting areas. Especially with all your sweet obtained abilities.

Mario Chat / Mario's Running
« on: November 17, 2007, 05:52:40 PM »
I've noticed this weird thing. In each Mario series (excluding the first Super Mario Bros. in the Super Mario Bros. series), he runs differently. In SMB 2 & 3, he runs with his arms bent on each side and they stay still, and he tilts his body. In the Smash Bros. series, he bends his back and runs rather normally. In the 3D series, his arms are straight out to the sides and he bends his forearms as he runs. What running style is your favorite?

In the back entrance to Hyrule Castle Town, there is a high ledge with a chest on it. How do I get it? I have tried climbing up the posts and I still cannot jump over to it.
