Ok, there was Super Mario Land, Super Mario World, Super Mario Galaxy, and I'm guessing Super Mario Universe.

Ya know, I started thinking a while ago that Super Mario Sunshine should've been called Super Mario Island, to fit in with the whole... whatever.

Hmm, this reminds me of the GTA naming structure. A number means it's the new, super-huge GTA sequel, a city name means it's pretty huge, and set in a new location, and stories means it's some half-hearted attempt to cash in on the popularity of the series. But I digress...

I'd say that, after SMG (Super Mario Galaxy, or submachine gun), Nintendo will likely start a new Mario theme. Or maybe they'll just make Super Mario Time...Portal...Thing. Hey, a Mario game with time travel would be cool...

After Super Mario Galaxy, Nintendo's probably just going to drown us in Mario Spinoff/sports games and make us wait for their next console to see a new Mario platform game (RPGs are good, though).

Back on topic. Here's some ideas for what the next, true Mario game will be titled:
-Super Mario Universe
-Super Mario Moon.
-Super Mario Solar System
-Super Mario Blackhole
-Super Mario Bros. 6 (since SM64, SMS and SMG only featured Mario and not Luigi. Same for SML and SML2. Super Mario World could be classified as Super Mario Bros. 4, and I guess you could say that New Super Mario Bros is SMB5.)

You guys know that they were trying to make "New SMB" just as the same as "SMB 1" but improved
So I'm guessing they're gonna make "New SMB 2", more like "SMB 2" with the charged high jumping, Wart arse kicking, shyguy pwning, 4 character choosing adventure! :D

Super Mario Creationism is next obviously.

I would love a Super Mario Forever game, which sounds like it would probably try to pack in as many past enemies, items and characters from the Mario series as possible in order to insure a huge fangasm.

But really, that idea is so hackneyed. I'd rather see a Mario game with completely, absoluely new characters, locations, enemies, etc. The art style would also have to be significantly different than the norm. This means the only returning character or element would be Mario. Also, there'd have to be some crazy gameplay gimmick, like, say, you can't control Mario directly; you'd have to give him directions with a headset and draw a path for him with the Wiimote. Or, maybe, it'd be a shooter (and this is not a joke at all); you control Mario with an FPS-style control scheme and use weapons like the mushrooms and whatever. The multiplayer mode could have the karts as vehicles.

Ooh, boy, those sound cool.

And, by the way, my "Mario time travel idea" was sarcasm.

Exactly. SMW was Super Mario Bros. 4 in Japan, unless I'm mistaken.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, Glorb's idea could be titled "Super Mario Revolution", even though that's not the name of the system.

EDIT MkII: Now I'm wondering if Nintendo would ever have the guts to release a new Mario game simply titled "Super Mario Bros." after the first in the series, as Sega did with their hedgehog.

It probably wouldn't bomb as badly, and it probably wouldn't be using character designs that look like Final Fantasy rejects or terribly out of place voice actors.

Though in a way, New Super Mario Bros kind of accomplished that. If you ignore the "New" part.

Thats kind of sick with the whole Super Mario Mature, I recon they will have an actual Super Mario Bros 3D kind of thing like Super Mario 64 but without the walls all around the levels, with out the portraits and no boundaries!!!! Like Super Mario Galaxy without the whole Galaxy part instead the mushroom kingdom lands of Super Mario Bros and New Super Mario Bros.
