Now, you many wonder what "Funky Kong" is. Well, Funky Kong was born of a fever dream that I had when I was ten. He's essentially Donkey Kong, but funky. So there.

Personally, I think the King Kong remake is king. It's more emotional than the original, but the original King Kong follows in a close second. Donkey Kong is third because I just don't "get" the DK rap. It's annoying. Funky Kong is fourth 'cause he's creepy.

1) Why can we pick more than one if we're picking the best?

2) Funky Kong actually exists in Donkey Country 1,2,3 and Donkey Kong 64.

What about the other remake in the '70's?  Or that (personally) awful Godzilla v.s. King Kong?  Why did those not make the cut for the poll?

I just saw the movie. Amazing. Best thing since Return of the King.

I thought the movie looked lame, but I heard a very enthusiastic review exactly like Watoad's. I'm going to go see it soon.

The movie was great. But not great enough to overthrow his highness, DK. What do expect in Mario chatroom?

Funky Kong can make a gun out of trees and fruit. Funky Kong wins.
As a game that requires six friends, an HDTV, and skill, I can see why the majority of TMK is going to hate on it hard.

Well, there are two Funky Kongs. The one in the DK games, and the horrifying aberration of nature that I keep dreaming about. Actually, they're the same thing. 'Cept mine's creepier.

I like my dog's Kong.  They sell them at Petco.

Donkey Kong, though King Kong (2005) looks awesome. Why couldn't Peter Jackson have directed that horrible Godzilla remake?

Peter Jackson and his company of skilled moviemaking people are the main reason for King Kong's quality, but there's also the difference in budget to keep in mind:

Godzilla: $125 million
King Kong: $207 million

The second number is about two-thirds larger than the first, which I imagine would account for some difference in the respective qualities of the productions.

Poster's note: I have not seen Godzilla.

To prevent confusion, I'd like to reiterate that the two figures above are the amounts of money spent on the films, not earned by them.
