I was just wondering if anyone else can disingish exzactally what's different between [King]Bowser and [King]Koopa. I know Koopa was mostly featured in the old NES classics and in the cartoons, and Bowser in the newer games, and that Bowser is a heck of a lot cooler lookin, but is there anything else I mighta missed/forgot?

King Bowser is King Koopa. One of the names is what he is known as in Japan and the other in the U.S.

^^;; oh, thanx for clearing that up for me... I always thought that Koopa was the *nearly* all green lizard featured in most of the cartoons...with the crown on his head. And Bowser with the studded collar, and red hair.

Allow me to clear everything up for you.  In japanese Koopa means Bowser  so when they translated to english it became known as Bowser instead of KingKoopa.  although kingkoopa is a much better name (bowser sounds like some kind of dog) But if your looking for exact differences, KingKoopa is Japanese, Bowser is American, KingKoopa has slightly redder hair, Bowser wears a crown.
need more differences? (dont believe there is any)

I think Bowser is just King Koopa's American dub name, there is no true difference in appearance. The green one with the crown was the cartoon version.

Bowser's full name is KIng Bowser Koopa. Does that explain alot?

From the very beginning in SMB, Bowser has been Bowser, King of the Koopas. Always for ever and ever. At least in America, that is.

In the cartoons he is King Bowser Koopa. The above poster is right about SMB1.

For some reason, Mario called Bowser "Koopa" until Yoshi's Safari, not SM64. That was the same time they changed Princess Toadstool to Princess Peach. Here's why:

Peach was the name of the Princess in the Japanesse version. The same with Bowser. So the logical choice would be instead of changing all of the names, they could keep two names and then change the other names.

Pricess Toadstool (Peach) was a nickname added to SMB3, and I believe that is her Japanese name anyhoo... Anybody else notice that Koopa is the only name they call Bowser in The Super Mario Brothers Movie? And in Super Mario World, Bowser's castle has a neon flashing sign with some cruddy pop music coming from it? Were the grafics and music from Japan changed for the "Trendy Hip Super Mario World For The Average American Joe, Yo" version of Super Mario World or whorst?!!?!

I never understood why Bowser (King Koopa, whatever the hell they call him) just took the princess and stowed her away in his castle. Why didn't he just have the little turd men hide her, then go after Mario and disembowel him? He's like three times his size, not mention the fact that he's WAY pointier. And in the first Mario, what was up with him? Koopa just left an axe lying around si Mario could chop him down and send him flying into the poorly-rendered pit of lava. Hey, now I know the difference! King Koopa is retarded, Bowser isn't!

okokokok!  Stop.  His full name, being King Bowser Koopa, he changed a bit.  He used to wear a crown, but maybe stopped because he wanted people to see his fantastic Red Hair, r maybe he's not a King anymore...who knows!
