Author Topic: Poll: If you were stranded...  (Read 7021 times)

« on: August 17, 2000, 12:23:05 PM »
I know this should be on the General MB, but nobody would read it there... ; )

If you were stranded on a deserted island with only a TV (which got no reception), any combination of video game systems of your  choice (not including a PC), and a total of 5  games for those systems, what would your choice of games be?

For the sake of argument, you have an infinite supply of electricity and a cleaning kit (for when you get sand on the system contacts ; )

Hinopio's top 5: <Hinopio is biased toward the SNES, btw>

1. Chrono Trigger (SNES)
2. Dixie's Double Trouble (SNES)
3. Super Mario RPG (SNES)
4. Super Mario All-Stars + SMW (SNES)
5. Legend of Zelda- A Link to the Past (SNES)

I noticed this question on another MB, but I wondered how people would answer here at Fungi Forums.

Super Mario All-Stars (SNES)
Super Smash Bros. (N64)
Mario Tennis 64 *heh heh* (N64)
Mario Golf (N64)
Tenchu: Stealth Assassins (PSX)

I think SMAS should cover all my classic gaming needs, and I have some new stuff too..

Deezer's five, in no particular order:
[Deezer is biased toward Mario, BTW]

1) Super Mario All-Stars + SMW (SNES) [five games in one, hehe]
2) Tetris & Dr. Mario (SNES) [gotta have Tetris, might as well have the combo cartridge]
3) Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (SNES)
4) Super Mario Kart (SNES)
5) Mario Golf (N64)

Of course, when Mario Tennis and Paper Mario come out, the list may have to change...

Only five? Awwwww...
Anyway:

1. SNES - SMAS + SMW (Favorites and favorites and favorites, oh my.)
2. SNES - Tetris & Dr. Mario (This game is very fun. Tetris against the master computer is very frustrating. Also, Dr. Mario is torture on high level 20.)
3. SNES - F Zero (The OutRun 2019 of the SNES: Just look at Mute City.)
4. N64 - Super Mario 64 w/Walkthrough (This game remains one of my favorites. As it turns out, Toad really IS nice.)
5. SNES - BSX (Perhaps I could rewire that sattelite addon to contact a rescure squad...)
Woohoo.

Hmm, here's the Fryster's Five:

1) Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World (can't complain with that)
2) Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (best game ever)
3) Diddy Kong Racing (better than MK64)
4) Super Mario RPG
5) Super Smash Bros.

I don't think I'd ever get bored with that combo of games.

2. Mario Tennis (It would be new, gosh darnit!)
3. Pokemon Stadium
4. Tetris Attack
5. SMBDX (so I could make a message in a bottle, assuming I get a GB printer...)

Well, here would be my 5 games if I were stranded (If I were stranded somewhere without anything but video games, I'd spend my time finding shelter, food, etc. so I could survive, so I wouldn't play them much anyway, but for the topics sake, I'll go along). . .

If you don't count the Gamecube, then I'd pick:

1. SMAS + SMW (SNES) [5 games in one. . .]
2. Super Smash Bros. (N64) [my favorite video game to date]
3. Legend of Zelda : Ocarina of Time (N64) [who could live without a Zelda game?]
4. Sonic Adventure (Dreamcast) [gasp - a Sega game!]
5. I'm split between Goldeneye (N64) and Super Mario RPG (SNES). I'd probably pick Goldeneye, but I'm still kind of split.

Now, if you count the Gamecube:

1. SMAS + SMW (SNES)
2. Super Smash Bros. Melee (GCN) [an advanced version of my favorite video game, Super Smash Bros. - I'm definitely bringing this]
3. Mario Sunshine (GCN) [Mario + GCN = A great game {hopefully}]
4. Star Wars: Rogue Squadron II (GCN)[I'm a SW maniac, and from what I've seen, this game is an almost perfect representation of the SW universe]
5. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64)

Well, there you go, these are my choices. . .

Well, here are my games, in no particular order.

SMW+S-Allstars (SNES)
Sonic Jam (SATURN)
Chrono Trigger
Donkey Kong Classics (NES)
FF anthonlogies
The first two are compilations of two of my favorite sereis of Platformers, Mario and Sonic. Then we go into CT, my favorite RPG of all time. Final Fantasy 6 is my second favorite RPG, so it gets in there, and finally Donkey Kong. It has no true end and is addicting as it is fun.

Here's what I'd have on my desert island:

*Donkey Kong Classics- NES
*Super Smash Bros. Melee- GameCube
*Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World- Super NES
*Perfect Dark- N64
*Legend of Zelda:  Ocarina of Time- N64

5 Games that almost made the cut:
+Wario Land 2- GameBoy Color
+Legend of Zelda:  Majora's Mask- N64
+Luigi's Mansion- GameCube
+StarFox- NES
+Yoshi's Island

Man, that was a lot harder than I thought!  Good thing I'm not planning on being stranded on a desert island any time soon.

Donkey Kong
Donkey Kong Jr.
Mario Bros.
Wario's Woods
Wrecking Crew

Why would I choose those? Because I've never played them before!

And no, I'm not going to spend $200+ on a GBA just for Mario Bros. It must be the original one for NES, or I'm never going to play it! That applies to everything except perhaps Wario's Woods, where the SNES version would let me play against the COM.

Oh, and if someone else on the island brings Yoshi's Safari, I'll take it away from them so they can't play. Or at least take away their spare Super Scope batteries.

I would have to have at least the first 5 of my favorites.

1. Super Mario All-Stars & Super Mario World (SNES)
2. Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time (N64)
3. Mario Sunshine (GC)
4. Tetris & Dr. Mario (SNES)
5. Super Mario RPG (SNES)
6. Super Mario 64 (N64)
7. Paper Mario (N64)
8. Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES)
9. Chrono Trigger (SNES)
10. Final Fantasy Anthologies (unknown)

If I had to break the combination games down, I would take SMB3 & SMW instead of all the All-Stars collection, and take both Tetris Attack & Dr. Mario 64 instead of the combination SNES titles.

Well.... everyone else did it. And someone revived it, so here goes... (In no paticular order)

SMAS + SMW: 5 games, and 5 of my favorites too.
Yoshi's Island: The best platformer. Ever.
Tetris Attack: The best game. Ever.
Tetris and Dr. Mario: I like puzzle games. :)
Mario Golf (N64): The wild card entry, Of course for it to work, it would have my 2 lvl 99 GB version characters on it... The 266 and perfectly controlled, and the 347 and Really freakin' high. (I'd find a way to save them on my game prmantently, somehow.)

There you have it. I in essence brought 10 games, but it is in 5 cartriges.

Oooh, toughie.

1. Mario RPG (SNES)
2. Yoshi's Island (SNES)
3. SSBM (GCN)
4. Pikmin (GCN)
5. Pokémon Crystal (GB) I was really tempted to give Mario Sunshine this spot, despite the fact that I haven't played it. Hehehe.

And I'd miss Kirby Super Star(SNES) and think fondly of it. Not to mention the stuff I played that seemed fun and that I really should have put more effort into solving my own cowardly self instead of using walkthrus (namely Ocarina of Time). I'll just wander off and hide from the Zelda fans who probably want to have me dragged out into the street and shot right now...*wanders off whistling*

For shame!

Although this was a really fun poll, I think it was kind of mean.  5!  Whew!  That would be tough.  You'd have to find games that don't get old fast, and that you love.

There are so many good games out there, I thought my mind would explode after this poll.  The choice is tough, and despite the fact that I already made my decision, here's my new one, with reasons:

1. Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World
Now, this is all 5 games on one cartridge.  Almost everybody picked it, because if you got all of these games seperately, you'd be out already.  Luckily, you can play this on 1!

2. Tetris & Dr. Mario
This is one of my favourite games!  The two games, and improved music.  Since these two classic puzzlers are so popular, you might as well get the combo pack!

3. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Well, it was always and always will be one of my favourites!

4. 50 games in one - NES
Well, I don't exactly remember the details.

5.  Super Smash Bros. Melee
Best, with tons of modes!
