5000th post! Woooooooooooo!
I now become the second Fungi Forumer ever to reach the big five oh oh oh. This place started as something to do while bored and waiting for my mom to take me home from her school room but ended up changing my life to a great extent. I made many awesome long-term friends, took a trip to LA, had a dude come to my house for a week of adventure, was inspired to make a bunch of cool movies and writing because I had an audience that could appreciate it, and probably own way more games and am way more of a gamer due to this forum. Thanks to Deezer for making it possible and thanks to all the members for making it a community. Here's to my next 5000 posts! Maybe I'll beat Chup.
With that said, to celebrate I'm giving away a free game of the winner's choice (MSRP $60 or less) assuming I can actually obtain it. The winner will be randomly selected from everyone who posts in this thread in the next week who registered prior to this post and has more than like 20 posts.
Good luck. :)
-
Wow, I'm only at Post 920, I believe. Still, I haven't even been here for a year. Congrats, nevertheless. Oh, and if we post here multiple times, do we increase our chances of winning?
-
No.
I just thought up a second prize. I'll give a second randomly selected person the CT of their choice (until it gets taken away by someone, which always eventually happens).
-
I wondered what you were planning with your 5000th post. This might be interesting...
-
That's awesome. It's pretty cool what a website and forum can do for a person.
And the deal here is interesting, I really doubt I'll win so best of wishes to all you other guys.
-
In keeping with the spirit of Wild and Crazy Kids, the prizes should be cumulative--i.e., 1st place also gets a custom rank change.
In keeping with the spirit of being TMK Pals 4 Evar, congrats! Your speech was touching.
Hip!
-
Hip-Hip-Hooray, for he's a jolly good fellow, for he's a jolly good fellow for he's a jolly good fellow. Which nobody can deny. Congrats bro.
-
Wait, how do you enter? Just by posting in this topic?
-
Congratulations, dude.
Considering I'm not even at 1000 yet, I'll be at 5000 in...5 years? Maybe longer? If I don't leave again?
Yes, Area 64. You already entered.
-
5000........I'm almost to 3000 and I've been here about 2 years.
-
*Betting the contest is rigged towards people he's met in real life*
*...well, except for second prize obviously. Might as well give it a try anyway*
-
Nah, I bet Lizard Dude is a fair dude. I don't know why but he just radiates that kind of personality.
-
Ooh, I hope I win. I know it's random, but being as how LD and I are best buds, and have had so many great moments over the forty years we've known each other, like the gladiatorial soapbox derby/deathmatch, the rocket shoe race, the kitten eating contest, the knife fight on the flying boat, the shootout with police in the spy equipment store, and the Sonic's Bad Quill Day fanfic, I think I have some remote chance of winning.
-
You kill me.
-
CONGRATURATION
Here's hoping I win.
-
I'm just little over 2000 posts, mabye I should slow down..
-
You beat me. ;_;
Then again, now that you've passed me, the pressure of maintaining my post count second highest is gone. So now I don't care anymore and can focus on more important things that aren't time-wasting, competitive, petty, and selfish.
-
In all honesty, let me let you know I'm not talking about the mods. But In all honesty , it really doesn't matter how many posts you have, its the quality of them...
-
Happy 5000, LD. :D
-
Congratulations, LD! Someone should write a song about him to commemorate his services, a kind of tribute. I'm off to find words that rhyme with Lizard or Dude!
-
I always miss out on cool stuff like this whenever I'm gone. Combolations!
(No doubt when I reach this mark, I'll be too poor to afford $50 games for myself)
-
Gizzard lewd.
-
In keeping with the spirit of Wild and Crazy Kids, the prizes should be cumulative--i.e., 1st place also gets a custom rank change.
Sure. I'd recommend them taking the CT of "Game Winner" or "Randomly Successful" or something to rub it in everyone's faces.
You beat me. ;_;

I sat at 4999 for about 3 days, so you could have made a move. I'm glad I'm helping out your life though.
-
Never mind.
-
[not sarcastic]yay for LD[/not sarcastic]
-
Post count++
Congratulations. I've got a long ways to go, but since my post rate on most forums decays exponentially as a function of time, I highly doubt I'll ever hit 5,000.
-
Poor Sapphira. :D Err, :(
-
Never mind.
What are you talking about?
-
Happy combolations or whatever, LD. May your next 5000 come within the next six to eight years.
BP, write a song for this man.
-
I am pretty sure I am nowhere close to 5k posts. Congrats on being so awesome, LD. Hope you don't leave anytime soon
-
Oh once on the 'net there was a dude
He was a lizard and all was good
He posted a lot in TMK
and reached 5000 in Februar-ay
LD is so nice that he's offered a prize
To some lucky user and he never lies
If you win, what will it be?
A DS game or a game for the Wii?
But that's not important 'cause LD is great
So here's to LD, the one we all love to have as one who can moderate.
-
222 So far... Oh wait... Now 223 :S
-
What are you talking about?
I asked something that was already answered, so I edited my post....
-
[generic post]
Pick me plox.
-
Don't forgot that Boo_penguin likes you too.
<Boo_penguin> If you need a tool, ask for Lizard_da_cool
<Boo_penguin> third line of my rap
-
I feel small and insignificant. 80 posts ;_; (81 posts now :D) But then again I've only been around since November so most people have a head start on me. Besides that, I have much homework and other stuff to do so I don't have time to read posts all day. But wow, 5000 posts... That's incredible. That's like 2 per day.... which doesn't seem like all that much in a grand perspective. Maybe I'll be about half that far by 2014...

<Deezer> Lizard Dude: 5000 posts and 1 TMK update
-
Can I get his song on itunes?
-
I'm posting because I feel this will be easier to win than the Nintendo Power contests.
-
Don't count me in the game giveaway. After all, you already paid for the hotel we slept together in. <-- I ended that sentence with a preposition just for you.
I'd be honored to receive a CT from the great LD though. (Many of my CTs and sigs are plays on yours anyway.)
On the subject of the game giveaway, you might consider giving a gift certificate from a site like amazon or something instead of mailing an actual game. When I did a few prizes on this board I had problems getting the prizes to some people because they were under eighteen and couldn't give out their addresses.
-

Piggybacking on that: I don't suggest Amazon for an online gift certificate choice. I have had many problems in the past (and no, not just the Mario Kart thing, Luigison. No hard feelings about all that) with Amazon's online stuff and emails have gotten lost, etc. Just suggesting.
-
Wonderful prizes, you say?
-
I'm totally posting in this thread.
-
<Deezer> Lizard Dude: 5000 posts and 1 TMK update
XD I know, I know. A little more patience please, Deezer.

Yeah, I'm being free-form with this. First I'll see who wins and what they want, then do whatever I can to accomodate them from there.
-
I think you missed your chance, LD.
[11/01, 23:56:41] Note to LD: Do some sightings databasin' plz
[01/16, 03:19:06] Note to LD: Send me some freakin' sightings
[01/29, 01:47:49] Note to LD: FIRED
I've done more sightings than you have! I've provided two new ones within the past month! And that's not even my domain here!
[01/29, 02:12:36] MegaByte-away: hey Sapph, guess what your new job is
[01/29, 03:27:39] Sapphira: XD OH SNAP >_<
-
What does "provided" mean? I've seen no updates.
Regardless of my "employment status", I have gleaned hundreds of sightings from old mailbags and emails which shall not go to waste.
-
Congrats Lizard Dude!
This is my 3,190 post. Wow, I've been active in the last year. I've almost been here for a year and a half...*calculates* Wait...I have a few months. Hehe, it will take me months to reach 5,000 post, now that I can't post one-worders...just kidding.
Congrats to whoever gets the awesome Lizard Dude prize. It will even be more awesome because it's from The Dude himself.
-
Well, congraty-laty-lations, Lizard Dude!
now that I can't post one-worders...
What about Mario Word Association?
But In all honesty , it really doesn't matter how many posts you have, its the quality of them...
ssM is right. It doesn't matter how many posts you have, it's the quality of the posts. Heck, I have 2,915 (now 2,916) posts, and I can guarantee that more than a third of those are the stupid and childish ones I made in the past (hopefully, I'm not posting childishly or stupidly in the current times).
This all said, I am going to compete in this contest. I could use a CT given out by the Lizard, which guarantees it as great. I'll just hope for the best and most likely say a lot of nice words about Lizard Dude until the end of the contest. You're awesome! You can play an awesome guitar solo! You have non-infected scales!
Oh, and great song, BP.
-
I'm posting because I feel this will be easier to win than the Nintendo Power contests.
Even better, you don't have to fill out a survey about why you like or dislike Lizard Dude and then mail it to him.
-
Even better, you don't have to fill out a survey about why you like or dislike Lizard Dude and then mail it to him.
A survey like that would be awesome if LD made it.
-
What does "provided" mean? I've seen no updates.
Submitted. I found two new references and told where they were from and what they were. Databasing them is(was) your job. :P
And obviously quality posts are more important than post count. If you guys were saying that to me, I'm a little insulted that you wouldn't think I knew that. If not, well, SSM, your sentences need to be much clearer and better worded. Also, my posts, even if abundant, aren't good quality? ;_;
-
5000 posts...and to think, I've stayed overnight in this guy's hometown.
-
I've stayed overnight with this guy. pwned
-
Oh that's right, you slept with him. XD
-
Wow.. I can't even imagine getting 5000 posts at the moment. I barely have 500 (439, or 440 as of this post). I actually take my time when posting, and try to make sure that every single one is a quality post (not that any of you don't, mind.)
I also am hoping this will be easier to win than one of Nintendo Power's contests, though I likely don't have a chance of winning, since I never win anything.
But I'm not posting to win, anyway. I'm posting to connect with people, improve my internet communication, and have fun. :)
-
Too bad, you enetered anyway.
-
I'm not saying I didn't want to enter.. >_>
and you spelled entered wrong.
-
Oh yeah, well in my first thread introducing my own self, LD called me "promising". Imagine what he thinks of me NOW!
Wait, we are bragging about our connections with Lizard Dude, right? Hey Lizard Dude, you're cool. I hope you don't grow up to be some actually evil guy who does bad things that are unlike how you act here. That would be mischievous!
-
We are, really? Well I have Lizard Dude's AUTOGRAPH, as well as a copy of WarioWare: Touched! he helped me save TENS on!! This certainly doesn't beat everyone, but it's worth something. Bwahahaha!
-
What state does the LD live in?
-
A state of confusion, mostly.
-
Has anyone won yet? I'm going insane because of the suspense!! AARGRGagrghgh!!!!11
-
Nah, two-and-a-half days would make a pretty measly week.
-
Without seven days, you have a pretty weak week.
-
How do you people accumulate so many posts!? I feel very insignificant. Of course, I do in comparison to most people...
-
No life/Too much time/Highly conveiled spam.
-
Heh, and I was happy when I got 2,000.
-
I think it helps when you don't have dial-up, like Fwirt was and Mr.Melee used to have. If you do have dial-up, you have to first consider whether the post you want to make is worth the time it'll take to connect and then get to the FF, then post.
-
How will you know if you want to post if you haven't gotten into the FF yet?
-
If LD was at E3, I visited the city that day...So I was in the same city that day!
-
I think I should go to Confusion sometime this summer. I'd need directions, though...and someone to drive...
-
Confusion has terrible weather, but they do have the world's biggest Slurpie, which is pretty good.
-
I definitely have to go, then.
-
My hands smell like peaches. It's this new soap. Lizard dude should offer it as third prize. Or better yet, the prize for third place should be not receiving it, because then he wouldn't have to go to the trouble of getting it and almost everyone would be a third place winner!
-
Haha, I just noticed LD's new CT.
-
So did I. No ordinary lizard could contain that much power!
-
And soon, It will be over 9000!
-
NO. FREAKING. WAI!!!
There's no way any combination of Lizard or Dude could ever hope to have over 9000!
-
Chup's not too far off: 8414 as of this post.
-
Ahh! *pushes everyone aside* Chup is even more powerful! *bows to him*
-
No, LD and Chup have the same amount of power on the FF.The only ones more powerful are Deezer and MB.
-
But their power levels are pitifully puny!
-
I'm more powerful than Deezer!
-
Then prove it, in a Hot Wheels race!
-
I have to give my obligatory stock statement about how I normally detest threads celebrating post counts, but on certain occasions, such as [# of posts], I feel it's alright.
Now that that is out of the way, congratulations Lizard Dude. It's great to see you're still very active. Please continue to drive the forums forward.
Also, I just wanted to say congrats. I don't wish to be considered for your prize.
-
There were 37 entrants. Luigison opted out of the grand prize and Black Mage opted out of both prizes. Thus, odds of winning the game were 1 in 35 and winning the CT was 1 in 36.
Without further ado:
Game Winner: Toad
CT Winner: Mr. Wiggles
Grats!
-
I figured you would go into #tmk and roll !d35 for the game winner and !d36 for the CT winner. Oh well. I wonder what game Toad will pick...
-
I won? Allright!!
I would like to thank all the little people I stomped all over to get this award, and apologize if I hurt anybody in any way. :D
I don't know what kind of game I would want.. I think I'll talk to my fiancee and see if there's something that she wants too.
Thank you so much, LD! :D
-
Congrats guys!!!
-
Aw man! I mean, uh, congrats and whatnot.
-
Curses, foiled again!
-
But I thought you were a superhero, SushieBoy.
-
Synapse. Will someone at least buy me lunch?
-
How am I supposed to by my lunch then?
-
How fitting for this thread; this is my 5000th post! ^_^
(Wow, it's been over two years since my last significant milestone (http://themushroomkingdom.net/board/index.php?topic=5998.0).)
The past nearly-four years have been awesome here, a fun and enjoyable experience (for the most part). I even got to meet and visit with some awesome people I "met" from this place. TMK, especially the forums, has been a huge part of my life and has given me so many memories.
But now I think it's time I take a step back. This doesn't mean I'm leaving, and I'll still be part of the staff, but I'll be significantly less active on the forums (and in the chatroom). Many of you may have already noticed my activity has largely decreased here, so basically this is like a(n in)formal announcement (or something) of what's already happened. Other aspects of my life have become more important to me.
-
Can you make one of those big milestone giveaway deals? Maybe I will do one on my 3000th post.... Perhaps!
-
Yeah, Sapph... buy me lunch!! :DDDD
-
Well, I picked a game. It'd probably not one that everybody else would pick, but I don't care. I'm trying to quit thinking so much about what other people think of me. Anyway, the game..
Mario Hoops 3 on 3. I have yet to play it, and have heard many good things about it.
Maybe since the game is only $30, LD will let me get two of them, equaling $60 (just kidding.. that wouldn't be fair. Lol).
-
Sweetness. A custom title of my own choosing? Nice.
Unfortunately, I'm still stumped on what it should be. I must put on my thinking cap and isolate myself from the outside world until inspiration strikes.
-
Congrats!
-
There were 37 entrants.
I swear I should have won that thing. :P
'Grats, Sapph and Toad and Mr. Wiggles and all winners of life. Maybe I'll revive this thread with my 1337th post
-
Congranulated Sugar!
-
Maybe I'll revive this thread with my 1337th post
When you make that post, the forum software displays your post count as "leet."
-
Grats to Sapph! Interesting how the first two years got you 4000 posts and the last two only had 1000.
By the way, here's a screen of the epic rolls (http://kontek.net/LizardDude/WoW/TMKContest.jpg).
-
Hark! Yet again, we face another major milestone in Fungi Forum History... I am now posting my 2,059th post, a major goal of my life.
-
That number feels...familiar
-

I thought that link would be the Top 10 ytmnd again.
-
Congrats! Toad, don't change your custom title, please. I get sad if I don't see the term "mushroom retainer" at least once a day.
-
I think his CT should be "King Muscledude". I suggested that for being my own before, but really, I think that only Toad is worthy enough to have the honor of being called the King (of Muscledudes).
-
Congrats! Toad, don't change your custom title, please. I get sad if I don't see the term "mushroom retainer" at least once a day.
Allright! I can brighten somebody's day just by posting! Sweet!! :D

Why should my CT be "King Muscledude"? I'm not all that strong, and hate the term "dude".. unless, it's a reference to Toad's awesome abilities from SMB2 and Wario's Woods.
-
I'm not all that strong, and hate the term "dude"..
/me slinks off into the corner.
-
Oh.. Sorry. :/
I hate the slang term. It stems from when I worked at Burger King for the first time, and there was this manager that I hated (and she hated everybody), and she would run around saying "dude" all the time. Her voice was kind of annoying, like nails on a chalkboard (or that one woman from the tv show Friends, but without the funniness).
I don't hate you. If were to ever take up the use of the term "dude", you would be one of the best dudes I've ever had the pleasure of chatting on the Internet with (I can't say "met" because I haven't met you).
-
Her voice was kind of annoying, like nails on a chalkboard (or that one woman from the tv show Friends, but without the funniness).
Wait, Friends was supposed to be funny?
-
Yes, but it failed miserably at it.
-
Friends is hilarious. Maybe you people should actually WATCH a few episodes before you insult it.
Hahaha, I think you're talking about Janice, Toad. She's so annoying, but I LOVE how she always runs into the friends at unexpected (the worst possible) times throughout the series. At least the actress who plays her has a normal voice (she's been in Everybody Loves Raymond), unlike Fran Drescher, whose voice drives me absolutely insane.
-
'Sup.
I cashed in my CT prize. Check it out.
-
Friends is hilarious. Maybe you people should actually WATCH a few episodes before you insult it.

a
Aw man, but The Nanny was awesome.
-
Friends is hilarious. Maybe you people should actually WATCH a few episodes before you insult it.
I've watched enough episodes (usually because I was forced to) to get an opinion of it, the most they got out of me was a chuckle.
-
All I've seen of it makes me go "yuck, what a bad and unfunny show."
-
I liked it. Most people I see complaining aren't in its target demographic anyway.
-
I haven't seen an episode to my knowledge, but bad shows don't last ten seasons.
-
Friends was one of those shows that you never actually sit down to watch, and yet you end up seeing at least 30 seconds of it every day.
-
I support Sapphira's opinion because she's a girl, and girls are prettier than boys.
-
Yes. they are curvier, and sweet smelling.
-
I support Sapphira's opinion because she's a girl, and girls are prettier than boys.
That's a lame, shallow reason to support someone. I'm insulted that the appearance of my gender in general (or even my appearance personally) has more merit than what I actually say. :/
bad shows don't last ten seasons.
My thoughts exactly, LD, even if I had never seen the show. Unfortunately a lot of GOOD shows don't last long, though.
-
I support Sapphira's opinion because she's a girl, and girls are prettier than boys.
...
-
Girls are better looking then guys. Every guy is supposed to feel this way. Unless of course, he's the g-word, or full of himself.
BTW, I'm not saying that I'd support anyone because of their gender. ;D
-
I like DeadAwake's way of thinking.
I'm also very tempted to post those pictures of ugly girls from Custom Wars used to cheer up girls with self esteem issues.
-
It makes me sad that people would get a boost in self-esteem at the expense of someone else. "Well, I'm pretty messed up, but that person is way worse off than me, so I feel a little better."
We need to be boosting other people's esteem through genuine compliments and encouragement (NOT flattery), not make them feel worse or make fun of someone else to make a person feel better. This includes toward yourself, as well.
On another note, beauty is more important on the inside. And hey, if you have it on the inside, it makes you more attractive on the outside. Beauty is mostly about perception.
-
On another note, beauty is more important on the inside. And hey, if you have it on the inside, it makes you more attractive on the outside. Beauty is mostly about perception.
Thank you for that wonderful speech, Sapph. Everyone needs to realize that.
-
Sapphira wins.
I only "..."d in my last post because I thought DeadAwake's statement was just so very shallow.
-
That's a lame, shallow reason to support someone. I'm insulted that the appearance of my gender in general (or even my appearance personally) has more merit than what I actually say. :/
Alright. Girls are prettier than guys, except in Sapphira's case. CASE CLOSED NOT GUILTY.
-
You only have 8 posts total--the last time you posted being about two years ago--and THAT is what you chose to say? And you wonder why I don't think very highly of you... :/
Is it just me or does it seem like more people are purposely trying to antagonize me (and possibly others) lately? And yet at the same time others have totally agreed with/supported/liked everything I've said? Not just in this thread. Have I become controversial or something?
-
Unless of course, he's the g-word, or full of himself.
Greedy? If that's the case, I think Wario would fit both of those. :D
-
Sapph, people antagonize you because you freak out so easily. People like to make easily-freaking out people freak out.
-
I like Friends, although I don't generally agree that longevity = goodness of a television show. I would've liked Friends even if it didn't last so long.
Also, I think Sapph is pretty inwardly and outwardly. This, also, did not affect my choice in whether or not I like Friends.
Girls in general can be anything, and my opinion varies from girl to girl. This does not affect whether or not I like AV-Cables.
-
AV cables are confusing! All them wires and whatnot...
But, to be honest, gender has little to do with how smart you are, but rather, how you are smart. Guys are smart in the "explosions/pirates/NASCAR" category, and girls are smart in...pretty much everything else.
-
Alright. Girls are prettier than guys, except in Sapphira's case. CASE CLOSED NOT GUILTY.
Yeah...right. This wins my award for "Biggest load of dukar."
Also, I think Sapph is pretty inwardly and outwardly.
And I agree with this statement.
-
I agree with Red Paratroopa's statement as well!
AV-Cables...you know you are wrong.
-
Obviously... why else would he have posted it?
-
I like how seriously AV-Cables and DeadAwake's posts are being taken.
Cuz, you know, internets is serious business.
-
Man, Glorb is pretty chauvinistic.
-
Guys, I don't think AV was being very serious when he said that.
-
Thank you for the game, LD!
I got it in the mail today.. I have yet to open it, since I'm in the middle of playing catch up with my school work (since my old computer has been acting kind of funny, and my parents decided it was time to get a new one. I haven't been able to properly work on school stuff for at least a month).
So, has anybody else played Mario Hoops? :D
-
All this computer breaking down stuff is really strange. My printer AND my computer just broke completely down. My friends computer, as she puts it, is "being a retard".
I'm on my mom's compy.
-
Yeah, I have Hoops. It's quite good, and has fairly unique touch control. It doesn't feel like any other DS game I've played. The action is fast, there are lots of unlockables, and it gets pretty hard. The collecting coins multiplayer is pretty weak but the battle mode multiplayer is pretty fun for awhile. I imagine playing the normal basketball game multiplayer would be the best way to play the game, but the only person I knew who owned it sold it before I could play with them. :<
I haven't played as much as I should, because I got distracted by other games shortly after I got it. I'll return to it more hardcore sometime.
-
Man, Glorb is pretty chauvinistic.
No, my point was that girls generally have a better understanding of everything than guys.
On a very related note, the Final Fantasy characters in Mario Hoops are too overpowered, and I don't like the game anyway.
-
Glorb, i'm pretty sure no one can understand everything there is to understand. Not even girls.
-
I'm pretty sure guys are smarter than girls by default, 'cause they don't have to worry about things like baking cakes and can instead concentrate on science!
-
The exploding part of science, anyway. Or the boobs part.
-
I'm pretty sure guys are smarter than girls by default, 'cause they don't have to worry about things like baking cakes and can instead concentrate on science!
I thought baking cakes and worrying about them was a choice.
-
Baking cakes is a science if you don't follow directions or have an EZ Bake Oven.
-
Cooking is science in general when you know how the chemicals react.
-
What century are you people living in? Both sexes can be and are good at everything. The percentages are different in various fields, but still...
Sheesh, why is this an argument?
-
My government's top scientist told us that women have brains the size of squirrels.
*Awaits overreaction from someone who doesn't get the reference*
-
WHAT?! You cho-vu-nist!
-
Says the guy who posted this:
AV cables are confusing! All them wires and whatnot...
