It makes me sad that people would get a boost in self-esteem at the expense of someone else. "Well, I'm pretty messed up, but that person is way worse off than me, so I feel a little better."
We need to be boosting other people's esteem through genuine compliments and encouragement (NOT flattery), not make them feel worse or make fun of someone else to make a person feel better. This includes toward yourself, as well.
On another note, beauty is more important on the inside. And hey, if you have it on the inside, it makes you more attractive on the outside. Beauty is mostly about perception.
