No need for profanity, there, even if it is swear-masking.

Poision mushroom.

Mario Chat / Re: the "secret weapon" in SMB3?
« on: July 20, 2003, 10:31:07 AM »
Are you certain that it's Super Mario Brother's 3 you're thinking about? I don't really remember that line in the game at all, let alone a koopa kid talking...But I will confess it's been awhile since I played Mario 3.

The secret weapon could be referring to his army of tanks in the Dark World, or his super fast airship, or his...Evil boat thing in the dark world. I guess I really don't know.

Mario Chat / Re: What would you want to see in the next mario game?

I'd like to see more stages like the Bowser stages in Mario 64-3D, yet still maintaining the old school 2d feeling to them. 'Course, I'd be more than happy with just about anything in a new Mario game.

I really would like to add Wario World to my personal collection, but I'm not paying fifty dollars for a game that lasts six or so hours. I'm going to give a good old fashioned rentsky one of these nights, though.

General Chat / Re: Crazy Newbies Must Stop
« on: July 04, 2003, 08:39:22 PM »
The board's current state is sort of...depressing. I've actually been here since day one (Ninth Registered member, if I remember correctly), although I admit that I have basically lived on the AWOL side for a good half of my 'staty'. I really don't have a clue which of these memebers are 'newbies' or not. I greatly dislike the term newbie...It just seems like such a harsh term, like it's descriminating against you for not being there before.

Anyway, there are some methods for getting rid of the 'crazy newbiness', for lack of a better word, that don't involve running to a moderater or the big man. One of the things that comes to mind is not to encourage or provoke them-even if they say or do something outrageous or moronic. You could probably even try to tell them very politely that their behavior isn't appropirate, or that they're being off topic, or that it's generally nice to use decent grammer and stuff. The not provoking the 'newbies' also helps, because if you're not 'rewarding them' with the attention they're seeking, they'll look else where for attention.

Although the crusade for higher standards is a noble one, I don't want to see innocent new comers  trampled. TMK Fungi Forums is a place for Mario fans to unite, and well, we could use all the mario fans we can get. It gives the boards blood, makes them live. With a big of help and being nudged in the right direction, I'm certain that they have a good chance of becoming a functional memeber of the Fungi Society. 'Course, there are always those that won't change...Not much you can do about them.

Sorry to ramble, I've picked up that habit lately.

Video Game Chat / Re: Is anyone here a Sonic fan?
« on: June 20, 2003, 11:23:55 PM »
I'm an extremly big fan of Sonic. I'd say my love for the two mascots are about equal. It was always akward for me back in the 16 bit wars were always akward for me because I was a fan of both the SNES and the Genesis.

As for the Eggman thing...Dr. Robotnik has always been called Dr. Eggman in Japan and for some reason the guys at Sega of America decided that Dr. Robotnik was a much better name for Sonic's nemesis. Dr. Robotnik has a much more sinister feel to it, I admit...But eventually, they decided to get Sonic a little closer to his japanese roots by introducing the concept of Eggman in Sonic Adventure 1 by initialy making it a nickname Sonic and co. called him. Then...They just started referring to him as Dr. Eggman...

This trend isn't too unusual, really. You know the Princess? Princess Toadstool? In Japan she's always known as Princess Peach. But here in America, she was always only known as "The Princess" Or "Princess Toadstool" until the day Mario 64 came out. Then Peach was introduced to the US Audience as the Princess' first name.

Another example of this is Final Fantasy adopting the original numbering system in America. Instead of Final Fantasy VII becoming America's FFIV, it too was labled VII.

I know if I desgined a character named Sketchy Sketchy and in Japan he was named Squiggly Man the Brave, I'd be a little disapointed.

Sorry, it's early in the morning-some of the history might be a little off. Sorry for rambling, too.

Mario Chat / Re: Mario Dreams
« on: June 19, 2003, 11:41:18 AM »
Mario Dreams...Yes, I've had my fair share of those over the years, but I'm sad to say I've forgotten the vast majoirty of them.

When I was in kindergartin, Super Mario Kart came out. *pauses* My my, that was along time ago. But anyway, I was always obessed with finding a secret code where you could use the character specific weapons-IE make Yoshi fire his eggs, make Bowser shoot a fireball, etc. etc. Well, I had one a dream once where when you press X and Y whilte driving as Yoshi, you'd lay an egg. Didn't work, alas...

Another dream I had was short, and very strange. I was Mario and I was living in a really big house and late one night I decided to go to bed. Bowser crept through my house and snuck up the stairs and then started jumping on me in my sleep! It even made the little "Ka-chuck" sounds like when you stomp on a koopa...

Another dream I had was more of a nightmare, back when I was in Fourth grade. When I was in fourth grade we had to take typing lessons on these really crusty computers that only had two colors-Green and Black. The little mascot for the Teaching Program was QWERTY-an odd looking asterik. Thing is, I never really liked that class much.

One night I had a dream where QWERTY invaded my TV and informed me coldly that he was going to put me through a little test, and that if I won the game, I would live, and if I lost, I'd die. So he sucked me into Super Mario Brothers 3 and I had to run through the game, live action. I managed to beat it somehow, and was released from my TV, and a disgruntled QWERTY promised to get his revenge...Although he never did.

Finally, the most recent Mario Dream that I can remember was after a late night of playing Mario Sunshine. I mean, really late. I stopped playing and went to bed and had a very disturbing dream. I dreamt that the Pintas in the Amusement Park were enslaving Yoshis and forcing them to build some sort of machine for them. There were rows of Yoshis in little shades being forced to march around by Pintas with Lazer Whips. I was playing as Mario riding on Yoshi, and we were trying to liberate the Yoshis.

The day finally came. After so long, and what seemed like the ultimate defeat...I really like the idea of Mother 3 on Game Boy Advance. It could probably use similar graphics to the original, or even some from the original, and it just might feel like more of a natural sequal.

On a side note, On Starmen.net I go by the name of Heavily Armored Hamster.
