I'm assuming a third-party wireless controller will work just as well as a Wavebird for this?

It doesn't have to be a WaveBird, it's just easier to turn it off and on instead of unplugging and plugging in a regular controller.

You don't have to do the unplugging deal. If you hold X, Y, and Start for three seconds, it recalibrates the controller. Just do that while holding up as well.

Exactly? The same way? As I did it? The one ShyGuy linked is slightly different. And, no offense, but you've asked questions/made assumptions answered/contradicted in previous posts in the past. Your post seems to indicate you didn't even read my description and simply assumed I did it the Fox, Falco, Ness and Peach way.
