Author Topic: Your favorite unhealthy fast food places  (Read 14636 times)

« on: April 10, 2008, 12:26:04 AM »
A poll that has been fermenting in my mind for awhile, long before I made my Pancakes vs. Waffles poll. What fast food restaurants do you enjoy eating at?

I've not included places like Arby's, Subway or Quizno's, as I don't really deem them fast food (they're definitely much healthier), and pizza chains like Pizza Hut and Domino's aren't included, because they aren't really fast (Sure, You've Got 30 Minutes, but other people've only got 5 to 10).

You can choose as many places as you'd like, with the option to change your vote if you accidently make a mistake. If there's a place I've missed (Those appear to be the most prominent ones, and even then most of those are fairly regional, we don't have ANY Dairy Queens, Sonics OR Jacks up here in New York), tell me, and I'll most likely add it if it's well known and has locations in enough places.

Please post telling me WHY you like these places, and what you usually order from these places.

My votes:
Burger King
Awesome food. I almost always order a Tendercrisp plain, with large fries and a drink, and ask for buffalo sauce on the side because they discontinued the Spicy Tendercrisp. The fries are pretty good, too.

Wendy's
For awhile I had a period when I disliked the place, mainly due to ordering a spicy chicken filet and getting a sandwich with mostly inedible meat. A few years later, I went there again (mainly because I was really hungry and didn't have much choice) and had the item again, and didn't have any problems with it. So yeah I like the place again.

KFC
Eh, I don't care what all the "Do you know what they DO to those chickens?" people say, I do find the chicken to be quite good there. I usually have 4 of those small sandwich things, or the boneless honey barbecue wings.

White Castle
Wow great place. I'm glad there are tons of locations here. I usually get 4 burgers (not plain, but not with cheese) with the onions, pickles and ketchup on them, fries, and either chicken rings or mozzarella sticks, with barbecue sauce or marinara sauce on their respective sides.

Checkers
Delicious fries. Like, the best fries ever. I usually get the chicken strip combo basket. Heart attack city =D

Roy Rogers
They had good food, but since locations are very sparse here (I've only ever seen them at rest stops on interstate highways anymore), I can't really remember what I usually get there.

Now you vote. =3

McDonalds: the burgers from the McDonalds around me are all small and don't provide anywhere near a good meal. It's only geographical convenience that sends me there. I typically order a Quarter Pounder with Large Fries.

Burger King: called "Hungry Jack's" in Australia, it is made of win, sells far bigger burgers than McDonalds. FTW. I order a Whopper with Large Fries.

Wendy's: not in Aus, but there's another unrelated ice cream place called Wendy's that I see around a lot.

KFC: beautiful... I love eating it, but it's also very expensive in comparison. I'll order nearly anything, though "nearly anything" generally means Popcorn Chicken.

White Castle: not in Aus.

Taco Bell: very, very, very tasty. It's also very expensive, however. (then again I have a bit of a weakness for Mexican food) I'll go any variation of tacos or nachos, even if I rarely ever go there.

Checker's/Rally's: not in Aus.

Sonic: not in Aus.

Dairy Queen: not in Aus.

Jack in the Box: not in Aus.

Roy Rogers: not in Aus.

Sorry for the somewhat vague response.

I try not to eat fast food a a lot because it's really bad for me, both weight wise and nutrient wise (Trans fat, cholesterol).  When I do, I like pretty much anywhere.

McDonalds: I like the fries and the chicken nuggets a lot, but I'm pretty much too refined to eat fast food burgers.

Burger King: Although their steakhouse burger is pretty awesome, I usually get a tendercrisp. I wish they still had the spicy ones.

KFC: They have those famous bowls, which are like mashed potatoes, cheese, gravy, chicken, and corn in a bowl. As unhealthy as they are, they're beyond tasty.

Taco Bell: I've stopped liking this place after I started eating real tacos, but they have some pretty good stuff.

Dairy Queen: They have awesome soft serve, but I'm not a huge fan of their actual food.

I don't really like Wendy's or Sonic, and I've never been to a White Castle, Checker's, Jack in the Box, or a Roy Rogers. Also, you forgot Hardee's/Carl's Jr.

Of the supplied choices, Taco Bell is the best, and the only one from which I regularly get food. Sonic is okay most of the time, but worse for you.

Ultima Shadow, I'm wondering what makes Taco Bell very very expensive in Australia, since here in America it's dirt cheap food.
That was a joke.

McDonald's, Burger King, and Dairy Queen are winners for me. They just seem the most convenient, and I've been going there all my life whenever we needed "fast food".

McDonalds:  I love the fries

KFC: Has a good buffet and the chicken is tasty

Arbys:  I like their roast beef sandwiches and curly fries, but it's kind of expensive.

Dairy Queen:  Has some of the best ice cream

McDonalds:  It;s a classic, people... as for what I order, I usuallly go there for breakfast when I go there at all, so--2 Sausage Biscuits, 2 Hash Browns, 1 Medium orange juice.

KFC:  Their chicken is nice and greasy with plenty of flavorful artery-clogging goodness.

Dairy Queen:  I don't go there much, but I always like their frozen treats.

I choose Burger King and Sonic. I didn't choose BK because I work there (that would be a reason not to choose it. hehe), I chose it because they really do have excellent food. I usually order a double cheese burger, large fries and a mocha.. on my break. Any other day, I take my time and think about what I might want to eat.

I chose Sonic because they're usually the second choice, if we don't feel like doing BK.

Wendy's FTW.
Burger King FTW.
KFC FTW.
A&W FTW.
White Castle certainly not FTW, because the nearest one is always 254 miles away from anywhere, and after you finally get there there's always, like, the same three stoners there and the food tastes like doodoo.

(then again I have a bit of a weakness for Mexican food)

Wow, what an insult to Mexicans. I would barely consider Taco Bell's food Mexican. More like Mexican-American. All they really have is Taco's. which barely scratches the surface, how about some Tamales, Enchiladas, Chorizo with egg, Flautas (Spanish for flutes, thin and fried rolled up tacos that usually have chicken) and so on? Oh no, I'm getting off topic again.

Please, show me where I implied I only eat Mexican food at Taco Bell. There are other Mexican restaurants out there, just that they're not on the list and therefore invalid choices.

On a slightly related note, I got my names mixed up; I actually eat at Taco Bill, which is completely unrelated but seems to serve the general same things as Taco Bell. So I guess, after all that, that choice is somewhat invalid. >__<

The nearest White Castle is only a 10 minute drive for me.

And I can only assume you've actually TASTED fecal matter if you're telling me the food tastes like that. That's pretty disgusting.

White Castle is also probably the most cheapest of my choices. What I order totals only about 5 to 6 dollars. And it's GOOD. It hits the spot very nicely.

Where I live means that I almost never have a choice of fast food, so it's been a very long time (if ever) since I've eaten at a lot of the locations mentioned other than McDonald's.

Also, I have to agree with Lizard Dude. Subway rocks when I can get it (usually if my dad and I eat out when I go with him to the comic shop, since it's in the same building). I don't see any of you other restaurants offering me Sun Chips or foot-long sandwiches.

The only fast food I know is McDonalds (without enconunting Spizzico-not in the list)! XD And I don't like it! =p

It depends: when a restaurant is not so full and it's a little late (or it's not weekend), you can receive a pizza after 5 minutes (because all ingredients are already prepeared).

I had Dairy Queen for the first time yesterday, since my girlfriend lives in a town about a half hour or so away from here, there was a Dairy Queen there, and I remembered this thread, and got food there. It was really good, easily the best chicken outside of places that specifically specialize in chicken (KFC, Chick-Fil-A) Their french fries were also very good, although with my meal, they gave me a random piece of bread, an end piece at that. o_O Also, the soda selection is horrible with only six different sodas. But overall it was great. Did not try any deserts, however.

P.S. Why is Hardee's and Carl's Jr. the same choice on the poll. They have significant differences.

« Reply #41 on: April 13, 2008, 06:42:54 PM »
I have not seen either chains in this part of the country (Though apparently there are Hardee's locations in this state) and I've been told they're the same restaurants, just running under a different name, like Checkers and Rally's.

Looking at the similar logos, I think I'll keep it that way.

If you can explain the differences and I deem them good enough, I'll separate them.
