Birdo.

Birdo and Bowser had a brief relationship prior to the beginning of Super Mario Brothers one. Her main power is spitting out eggs...So she spit out the eggs of Bowser's first seven children. However, things were not to be and Birdo and Bowser split up on bad terms. In between Super Mario Brothers 1 and 3 these children then hatched and grew up enough to be toddlers. It was during this time that Bowser realized his one true love on the planet is Princes Toadstool and he focused all of his attention on her. Birdo, on the other hand, fell into despair, and end up staying in the world of Sub-Con for a period of time.

The lives of Birdo and Bowser would not intersect again until the time frame of Mario Tennis 64. Birdo had returned to the Mushroom Kingdom and was once again playing the singles game -- as in, dating. (But also tennis.)  When Bowser saw how well she was getting on with Yoshi old feelings bubbled up to the surface and he was filled with jealousy. He made romantic overtures towards Birdo once more and they spent a week-end together. At the end of the week-end, however, it was once again apparent that they were not meant to be, and Birdo left. A few months later Birdo called Bowser and said she was pregnant.

So Bowser was left with another Koopaling egg. Inbetween Mario Tennis and Super Mario Sunshine this egg would hatch into Bowser Jr. After seeing what lazy bums his first children were he decided to take Bowser Jr. under his wing and teach him the ways of tyranny. Eventually Bowser Jr. asked Bowser who his mother was. Embarrassed about his romance with Birdo, he instead told Bowser. Jr. that his mother was the princess. Birdo is still seeing Yoshi off and on.

That leads us to today. Any questions?
Kweeh! Kweeh! Yes, Kweeh forever!

Heck no, why would anyone do it with Birdo? That ugly thing.
Unless you are cloned, you do not need to look like a midget version of your dad. Okay Bowser Jr.?

All the birdos in SMB2 were for-realz killed, and the only other canon games I can recall them existing in are SMRPG and M&L:SS, in neither of which did she contact Yoshi and in the former of which it is Bowser's objective to kill her to get through Nimbus Castle.

Birdo is a man. Thus, "she" cannot give birth.

Me: Why?

The male Birdo is only one of many.
That was a joke.

All Birdos are male. However, they lay eggs asexually. Thus, they all believe that they're actually female. Yes, this is an idea I personally thought of.

As for the original topic:

No, Birdo isn't Bowser's wife. Whoever Queen Koopa may have been, she's in all likelyhood dead and Bowser wants Peach to be her replacement. Yes, this is also an idea I personally thought of.

Personally I've always gone with the idea that Bowser's wife was Clawdia. The internet says that the name Clawdia appeared in a UK edition of Nintendo Power but was never referred to again (it was probably a joke, which wouldn't be surprising since Nintendo always dodges questions like that), yet somehow the name stuck because Lemmy's Land, SMBHQ, and the Super Mario Wiki all mention it. They also mention she's probably dead.

But the thought of Bowser with Birdo... ugh. Actually... *does search for it* ...okay, NOT doing that ever again...

Oh, hey, I've actually talked about this topic before.

Yeah, Lemmy from Lemmy's Land insisted that Clawdia was Bowser's wife, which I knew was fake in the first place. Still, Clawdia is the best name I've heard for a Bowser wife so far, but the description of what she looks like is definitely not what I'd like to see. Then again, I don't have a clear vision of what Clawdia would look like!

If we were to take our knowledge from what we found out in the games, then the only possibility is that Bowser adopted the kids from who knows where. In the Mario cartoons, in Dadzilla, Kootie Pie and Big Mouth tried to get the big robotic dino to think it was their dad by claiming the robot put them up for adoption.

THEN AGAIN, when Koopa is looking around for Hip & Hop in "A Little Learning", he says something like "those offspring of mine better be up to no good!"

Whaddaya think?
Geez, did I really talk like that back then? Oy...
