Over on Twitter, Derek Yu (@mossmouth) noted that the Super Mario Bros. 2 USA box art looks a bit like an edited, flipped version of the Japanese box art for the original Super Mario Bros.  He has a neat little image of the similarities on his Twitter account, linked below:

Latest News / Mario Tennis 3DS Announced (and more from Nintendo's Japanese Conference)

Nintendo held a "3DS Conference" in Japan this morning.  While many new surprises and titles were revealed, there were a few special points of interest for Mario fans.

* A new Mario Tennis is coming to the 3DS in 2012.

* Paper Mario and Luigi's Mansion 2 are both scheduled for 2012.

* Footage of Super Mario 3D Land shows Bowser and Goombas both sporting raccoon tailsl!  A variety of items, characters, and environments objects from Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, and the Super Mario Galaxy titles appear to be present as well.

* Mario Kart 7 footage reveals the return of the Waluigi Pinball track.

Donkey Kong and Samus battle it out in Disneyland's Splash Mountain.  These guys managed to combine two of my favorite things into one amazing combo -- sort of like Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, but less messy.
